like lag? ;)
Well I thought it would be good to make a real film, not some fan-made piece or crap.

actually, if done right, it would be a wonderful movie. Plot follows the major alliances of the south (because that is where I know)
I think following BoB would be good. the rise and fall of BoB, and without a definite end in sight for them, could hold well for a sequel.
ASCN war, iron/g, SA/SE, coalition. The anticipation of the titans and then the loss of Cyvok's and Shrike, with extra emphasis on the planning. Fleet battles with a built up suspense, large amount of people on a view screen. Say the fleet on the forward screen with the other pilots talking in various picture in picture.
Maybe suspend the idea of clones so when a person dies, they die. But make podding rather rare

Edited by: Paulo Damarr on 02/01/2008 03:34:23 Depending on how ambulation turns out I reckon the CCP Team behind the Trinity trailer could probably make a movie from that and base any Character scenes from Ambulation and do it on a reasonable budget.
The Trinity trailer is almost cinematic and if you watch it in HD the scenes with the Minmatar and Gallente fleets are pretty close to current sci fi SFX. ----------------------------------------------- My new years resolution is to give up nonconstructive posting |

EVE backstory has incredible cinematic potential. It definitely does not have to take place in the now, and there's basically no way to make it about the alliances, but the backstory itself bears amazing adaptation. Such events as the Caldari-Gallente war, the Amarr-Jove war, and the Gallente-Matari alliance, for example, could make for badass adaptations.
There is fighting, and then there is fighting: Some weapons are more useful than others, and not all battles must be won. |

I'm an avid fantasy fan and I'm dreading the WOW movie, they're going to murder the genre, also its not like its going to work, if anyone dies in the movie all they need to do is negotiate their way back to they're corpse and they can resurect (with a penalty to their items durability ofc) _______________________________________________ EVE is dying, we are all doomed...

Are you kidding? No one gunna paye to see a movie about BoB or ASCN or any of the major alliances, you have to remember most of the population hang about in empire space and few people bother reading the bable in COAD or keep up with 0.0 politics and the film atleast needs to be interesting to people who havnt played EVE before otherwise it would fail. _______________________________________________ EVE is dying, we are all doomed...

Marketed outside the game. To more of the general public. I think the premise could be done to appeal to more people without comprimising the integrity.

How would you like to see it done? What kind of director could do it justice? And what would the plot of the movie be? Perhaps..
how about a collaboration between Tim Burton and Quentin Tarantino
...And it should have Angelina Jolie in it, She could be a slave owning Ammarrian princess and they could take volunteers from in-game to go on-screen and be her slaves... of course. -- No love for the Matari |

Yeh right...
Minmatarr who are for some reason tribes?
In space?
Sure eve is pretty nice... but Warcraft is far far more complex and professional.
An eve doco maybe... but an eve movie? Backstory isn't strong enough. Or at the very least not movie like enough.

Originally by: Bryg Philomena actually, thinking about it, with all I hear on ts, this is practically a movie anyway. but I think it could work out actually.
Tom Cruise as Cyvok. Samuel L Jackson as evil thug.
Plot is based around the major turning events of the south. Heavily based on the strategy used. Flown starfighter style for cinematic affect. Large fleets of battleships shown with individual crews all flying in formation to attack posses. Dreadnoughts and titans. OMG OMG, I just came in my pants.
Will Smith as Sir Molle
Chris Rock would seriously have to play somebody for me to pay to watch it tbh...

So all I can think of is;
Eve Online: Session Change In Progress
Could be a trilogy with; Docked In Jita, and Starbase Siege with Desync.
Epic.
In all seriousness, I wouldn't mind a film based on eve backstory, contrary to what an above poster said. It should be all backstory, something about the Gallente-Caldari War, or the Amarr Religious Crusade. As told from the begining, though I think something starting from the eve gate would actually be a very long story, and very hard to produce. Could be doable though.

But how is it to appeal to the masses? There is no discovering hummunity really either... so it probably won't appeal to the sci fi crowd either.

Well lets put it this way... what is better about the eve story then say Star wars Star trek Battle star galactica (this is probably the most relevant one)

To be honest; It'd have to be on something epic, large and long lasting, GBC vs Coalition, player created, and everyone has a thorough knowledge of the personalities of the mainplayers, and the current progression of fleet battles.
Just imagine, seeing all that in super-high definition graphics on the big screen, and then, seeing a titan come onto screen and blackout/whiteout the battle.
tbh it would need Molle himself to voice-cast it :D

It would start out with a Star studded cast, and really engaging storyline, But after a while the supporting actors would complain that the stars are getting too much attention, so the producers would dumb down the stars and tell them not to act so well.
Then the extras would complain that there not getting there fair share of the lime light and demand that all actors get the same audience as everyone else, then it would dwindle down to a load of dribble resulting in a lot of stuff being given away.
