Mad props for once again bringing along a ton of shuttles and rookie ships with no other intent than to lag out the system.
Shame, as you could have bagged a titan.

It is a shame the node couldn't handle the fight that he was in, and we couldn't see what the battle would've been like.
I don't blame him for running like a scared little girl, I probably would have hiked up my skirt and punked out too.
What I am curious about is the support fleet behind him that wouldn't engage a fleet 1/3 hostile.
Doesn't that sound like a good fight? |

That's about right. I don't get involved in 0.0 politics. I just spectate. But: Having the node crash is the worst outcome possible, because there's no resolution. It's like getting interrupted in the midst of sex by your parents.
The other big problem with BoB and node crashes is the lingering taint of previous favouritism by certain CCP employees.... And so now it makes a good perennial rallying cry irrespective of the actual truth.
So what if Goons bought heaps of rookie ships.... So what if Shrike didn't re-log after the node rebooted, to continue the fun. (Who the hell would??).
3 hours for a battle? That's epic.
There's an attribute they don't list in the Titan description: "When deployed will attract so many friendly and enemy fleets that 'stellar events' (aka Node Crashes) inevitably occur"

You can just throw 47 (or whatever) billion isk away? God, look, you've won this game: Go and find another.
Pure Smack.
And by the way: Wasn't this an IAC system? Where are the IAC people posting? All of the Goons vs BoB egotistical chest-beating is getting old.

Not as epic as you would think... 5 minutes to lock something, 30 minutes - 1 hour to jump into the system.... logging in dead.
They got lucky with the node crashing, regardless of who's fault it was, we had dreads in system 10 minutes before the node went down. Their support fleet could rep him through the damage of the BS fleet + support, but they wouldn't have lasted long against the DNs.

It's called the Node-Crash Day Device; every Titan pilot has one fitted. It's like a huge bug zapper that attracts 10,000 flies all at once and then blows up causing not only your front porch to disappear but the entire surrounding 8 blocks of neighborhood. *Poof* Neighborhood gone, but in this case just the whole node.
Anyway props to BoB Cap ship spider tank! Shrike probably has a full set of high-grade Slaves and Boosters (Drugs) also besides the multi-billion officer mods. I mean what pilot wants to go down in EVE history as losing two Titans?

Originally by: Molle This event started with our fleet (roughly 70 strong) got sandwiched in between two various fleets of 100+. Fleet was in 407, hostiles in 49 and 407.
We decided to set the hostiles up for some capital action, quickly gathered a few capitals, inclduing titan. 13 carriers/mommas and 1 titan prepared as the fleet warped to 49 gate, into a dictor bubble, and mwd'ed through the bubble to 49 gate.
On the other side, hostiel fleet is waiting for us, as well as the 49 hostiles. We fire the cyno in 49, drop titan in, and fire dd, carriers arrive on the scene anout 10 seconds after the titan. Most all hostiles are stuck in their own bubble, and as soon as the dd has been fired, our fleet jumps to 49 (loosing a few in the process of jumping, as the timing weas critical). This is the starting event.
We loot the field, and, camp the gate, dd hit well. After about 15 minutes, the hostiles have gathered up more pilots, and they jump into us. Local goes from 80+ to about 250 in 10 minutes. We stand and fight on the gate. Me, personally, loaded perhaps 20 ships during this whole event, and targetcalling etc was not really possible, the standing order was "shoot whatever you load".
At 1 time, we had a carrier going to 30% armor before the spidertanks kicked in, at two different times, the titan was made primary, and stripped of shields, titan never came below 98% armor. Command modlue lag was 10 minutes more or less exactly, so dd-timing was more then tricky. I actually clicked the dd button 10 minutes before my timer was up, and the command went through 10 mins later.
3 doomsdays later, and 1 servercrash later, this is what you get.
The aftermath
After the servercrahs, the order was given to our capitals to hold, until we got a proper overview of the situation, ie, wtf is in there and how many? After about 25 minutes (yes, it took 25 mins to actually get a scan done), local is up to 700+ hostiles, and the call is given for capitals to go to rest, and for fleet to move to 8qt.
Serverlag aside, this would have been a much better fight, if both sides would have been able to load/jump/cyno into the system and actually load stuff.
I for one is happy with 3 very good dd's, and the scotch was good. Capitals have now moved back to delve, for some much needed refueling.

There are ships killed on gate trying to get into 49-u. Add in the several dozen more inside 49. I almost thought this was kisigo....
In total - roughly 60+ noob/shuttle. Add in crappy frigs that cannot combat within smartbomb range and you are looking at several hundred useless people in system.

Yep did a doublecheck those three are the only rookie/shuttle kills on the board during that time period.
If those ships were dreads............
I died on that gate in an Ares (normally I would have gotten through, but lag... ) becauese I was trying to get into system to get my Scorpion in the station in 49- (where I had most of my ships, since that's the system we've all been basing out of). I suspect more or less the same was true for pretty much anyone who died on that gate.

Useless, as in useless for the particular battle. For example, interceptors would be quite useless, thus weren't supposed to be there.
Not only was there an order to not be there unless you were in very specific classes of ships that were deemed necessary, but there was also an order to shoot any and all pods that idled on grid (friendly or hostile) to reduce lag.

Bizarro Goon fantasy post. Here, you seem to have trouble using Bob's killboard:
Fleet Battle
Note that the board says 250-odd Coalition,w hen we know it was 500+, so the following numbers should be doubled:
14 Frigates 4 Noob ships 2 Shuttles 5 Assault Ships (we all know they are worthless, right?)
not to mention all the cruisers and crap that couldn't actually contribute to a cap battle anyway...
And ships that could actually have killed a titan:
Carriers: Zero Motherships: Zero Titans: Zero (Pfft!)
You got nothing.

I'm not very good at reading killboards I admit, but as far as I can tell there were things called "battleships" and "interdictors" and things like that on the BoB "friendlies" list, this probably means that there were BoB "battleships" and "interdictors" and the like there.

Remember this didn't start as a 'Lets kill a Titan op'.
It started as a 'lets go find stuff to kill op'.
That is why there were various ship types deployed on the field, As said orders filtered through to not log back in or to log out 'ships that would not aid directly in capital ship kill'.
Bob made a tactical mistake, and nearly lost a Titan to it as well as its supporting cap fleet, and that is the simple fact.
The fact that a post appeared on CAOD drawing in others when the situation was already under control, just exacerbated the already 5-10 min lag with around 180 people in system.
As I said, this time the gods of EVE decided shrike needed to live :)

Exactly that was their problem! And don't forget that the system most certainly was not on a single node so on that not were not only the people in local (800+) but people on other systems as well which mades the load of the node probably surpassing 1000 people.
Why why why bring 600 ships if 50 dreads plus SOME support would have been enough?? Tackle titan, kill carriers and mothership and then the titan. Result: one dead titan, one dead mothership and several carriers.
And the most stupid thing is to whine on the forums about lag and accuse ccp of some evil node manipulation. That is just idiotic.

Mad props for once again bringing along a ton of shuttles and rookie ships with no other intent than to lag out the system.
Shame, as you could have bagged a titan.
Back this statement up.
Ok how about this one:
Linkage
or this one
Linkage
or this one
Linkage
Etc etc
Yet still the little Goonbleat warriors are whining about the lag and node overload. It's amazing that even with the odds stack so far in their favour they still manage to fail so badly.
Hold your horses there a little. The "Commander 598" guy is a brand new newbie, who asked me before hand if he thought an ibis (Thats all the little guy had, he's a newbie) could be useful. I asked him if he had a web or a warp disrupter, and he replied that he did. So I said "Sure little guy, go for it." since an ibis with a web or a warp disruptor can tackle a subcapital as well as any other ship, if hes lucky at range. Soon however both of us got lagged into that jump where he died. Soon the order came that no ship other than a battleship , T2 ecm ship or dictor was to enter the battlefield. Having taken half an hour to get in and still being at the "JUMPING" prompt, I ^Qed out, but alas for our newbie friend he had made it into 8Q, alas to his doom.
Now unlike you BOB types, Goonfleet and our allies believe 0.0 is for anyone with the balls have a go, even the brand new newbie. So I utterly reject, and with contempt, your assertion that a brand new player should be barred from fleet battles.
Goonfleet command specifically instructed non Battleships and Dictors to stay away. However before that point, all of us, big and little , where planning on teaching Shrike a lesson.

Again forgive me if I'm wrong, but as far as I know frigates and cruisers can "kill" battleships and the like?

TBH they've had a pretty sucky weekend, so it's not surprising they're feeling a bit tetchy. First of MIttani's fanfare announcement of the latest propaganda video fell flat before being pulled by CCP as nothing more than plagiarism, with no content.
Now they cause their allies to lose out on a titan kill by ill discipline.
Goons only have 2 assets - their size, and their reputation for 'humour'. Sadly, their size is more of a hinderance than a help when 80% of Eve is already against BoB. And their 'humour' is becoming increasingly repetitive and unoriginal.
It must always suck to be a Goon, but now more than ever I guess.

Well, it can tackle them as well as any ship that's not a dictor.
Which is to say "not at all". Normal caps and subcaps, go wild.

Not everyone can afford a titan, so if their were some voyeurs in shuttles what the hey.
Some of you forget that even if now you fly badass T2 or officer fitted ships with the latest implants and feel invulnerable, most started in noob ship, mining for 20k isk per haul wondering how to make the 1st million and drooling about getting a trax (cos they looked huge and awesome) erm or was that just me :)
As already said, orders were given for all non essentail ships to log off, so maybe some didnt get order..give em a break :)

Given that I've had ships destroyed hours after logging off in heavily lagged systems (which I'd imagine would be a significant reason why Shrike didn't quit, "Space honour" or no space honour), it's quite likely that many of them did get the order.

If I'm playing some guy at pool, and just as he's about to win, he sinks the white ball for a loss by default, I'd hardly brag about it.
BOB "won" because the node crash allowing shrike to get out. When the node returned he refused to log back in so the fight could continue as before.

But to say bob was outnumbered 1-9, dos not give that much sense. When they jumped in titan and their capitals, it was no near that, and i am pretty sure most of the pilots in the system, could not do anything, as shrike could just dd everytime his timer was up. No, Shrike survived and so did a good number of capitals that probably would have popped.
Thankfully BOBs secret ally Goons came to the rescue, not only did they leap in endless useless ships against their "allies" wishes, they also went around shooting pretty much anything in sight.
Many a pilot who had BOB ships in dictor bubbles or scram points on BOB ships discovered they were under attack from Goons.
Evidence of this all over the killboards and of course the news pages.
But nevermind, I am sure Goons had this planned all along. -

It's good that the coalition has members who are good at specific things. RA are fearsome fighters, while Goons are a bit of a joke.
Smacktalk in forums, on the other hand...you should probably let the Goons take care of that.
Just sayin'
nothing personal im just very angry sorry for that
I must admit, I'm pretty surprised that RA pilots are now stooping to schoolyard smacktalk. Good to see you apologising for it though. Still, I'm not surprised your angry - Goonbleat's incompetence and lag tactics cost you a titan kill.

Unfortunatly , even with the API your killboard isnt accurate, you seem to have a problem with the code that means some losses are not posted, Your board shows 2 battleship losses for today so far, there are at least 4 on other boards that dont use API. So quoting your board as proof when it is flawed isnt helpful.
(Not smacking here, just pointing out the API isnt working as intended)

Yet still the little Goonbleat warriors are whining about the lag and node overload. It's amazing that even with the odds stack so far in their favour they still manage to fail so badly.
So those three ships that weren't even in the target system managed to lag out 49-? I know eve has some server troubles from time to time but I've got a hunch they can handle THAT.
Yep did a doublecheck those three are the only rookie/shuttle kills on the board during that time period.
Well, they were in 49- before they were in 8qt strangely enough. Bob kb shows another 4 noobships and 2 shuttles (plus some haulers) killed in 49-u. This is out of only 250 ish ships who actually got on mails, no doubt there were more in system. What time they went into 49-u doesnt really matter, seeing as flying noobships into the system after you have cashed the node is not really too bright either. Why would you do that? stop people getting in? On the other hand i cant talk too much about people taking useless ships to the fight, i jumpcloned to 25s and ended up in a badly fitted bellicose

As for the losses suffered by the coalition, no-one really lost anything aside from the chance to kill a titan as I expect everything that was lost will get reimbursed. Given that the node crashed I expect even their logs will show some record of the lag.
Still it does sort of suck that ccp creates ships that are impossible to kill without enormous numbers and then fails to build a system that allows you to get those numbers into the required system.

the thing is, its near impossible (financially) to build such a computer/server. Handling say a "stress"-level of about 1000 ships without crashing would meen ENORMOUS bandwidth needed, a ton of computing power and near perfect DSL/Cabel connections.
And to be honest... i think your computers would lag a LOT more at say 1000 users then a decent mainframe or alike would...
But ye... perhaps its time for CCP to upgrade the EVE Mainframe with some newer internals.
Anyways... i'm kinda glad it didn't get killed yesterday... I had work to do so couldn't do Ops.. so lets hope shrike gets killed tomorrow so i can be there :)

Yes. Don't blame CCP's horrible Client-Server mechanics and net code on anyone but CCP.
Also, for all the whining about "Worthless Ships" and whatnot people forget that it was a T1 Frigate that decloaked Shrike and lead to his death the first time. How many of you sitting here claiming that some ships are worthless have caused the death of a Titan?

This is probably why the node crashed tbh. Anytime there are any massive changes in a system (local rising or dropping quickly) the server lags to crap. Perhaps with the 800+ people and a massive log off (I don't know how many logged off) was probably to much for the server to handle. Who knows, I'm only speculating.
But really, node crashes occur when the system is flooded like that. People that are trying to blame us for having 70 in system need a clue tbh.

Congratulations on not losing a titan, this must be a crowning achievement for the Band of Brothers alliance. I guess I'd be happy too if I had saved a titan after losing one previously and then losing a heapload of regions.
You sound quite upset .
Out of curiosity, how many regions and how many titans do Pandemic Legion own?
The same amount as always. How many regions and titans have you lost though?

So, what you are saying is you are measuring your success by never having accomplished anything to begin with? Nice logic....
There are fair number of people who never try to succeed because they are afraid they will fail, I guess you fall into this category.

And to answer your question, we have lost 1 titan and 3 regions. But at least we keep going and trying . There was this one alliance that lost almost all of their regions once to. Their name was Red Alliance, you may want to look em up and see how they are doing now.
Look up an alliance called Lotka Voltera. They're quite similar to your alliance, or I guess they were quite similar to your alliance.

Theres all kinds of alliances that were great powers that have fell, there were also insignificant alliances that never really accomplished anything. Kind of like yours.
Argue against Bob all you want. Yes we lost regions, yes we lost a Titan. At least we have the balls to try to take it all in the first place. I just love all the people who jump on the Goons+RA bandwaggon and try to talk about how "they" beat bob.

Interesting how Shrike managed to kill ships solo with the Doomsday at 23:35 (skullkeeper in a Malediction) and again 56 minutes later at 00:31 (Wainak in a Flycatcher). |

Probably due to server lag. When a DD goes off it takes quite a while for all the killmails (logs now) to be generated.
Or we activated our dev h4x, you decide.

The truth is, Molle almost lost his titan. He should have lost it. I mean, I played better than he did, i was sure of it! But thanks to my own stupidity and arrogance, I didn't see him controlling me the whole time.
I was getting a bigger pile of chips all night long, mocking him every time he lost a hand. I thought my mockery was working and his anger was apparent when he was about to fold his last possible hand. He was down to 4 blue chips, and the buy-in for the next round was 5 blue. So he put in his Avatar title as collateral for more funds I accepted with cloaked joy.. This was just what I had been planning. My smack talking had succeeded! The next round i would take the avatar from him in one fail swoop.
When I laid down my full house (aces high) and started to smile my "OMG I HAVE TO GO TO THE FORUMS AND POST HOW AWESOME I AM OVER AND OVER AND OVER" smile, i noticed that he was starting to smile too. After knowing him for nearly a decade, I knew this was bad for me. He laid down a royal flush.
He took every chip off the table, and his titan back as well. We were "all in" that last round. What the hell was I thinking? I was overconfident thanks to a whole night of kicking this Swedish meatball all over the place.
Wait, swedish meatball...
Dinner was good. A little too good. He's a good cook, but a lousy bartender.
I KNEW IT. HE GOT ME CRUNK. HE GOT ME CRUNK AND TOOK ADVANTAGE OF ME. AGAIN.
Bah whatever. I should have known it was coming. Abba knew exactly what he was doing the whole time. WHAT THE HELL WAS I THINKING? Why did i let him keep pouring me Turkish coffee? I thought I was crushing his ego with each pile of chips I took from him. The next morning as I nursed my Shrike-induced hangover I remembered that he didn't have an ego to begin with.

And the most stupid thing is to whine on the forums about lag and accuse ccp of some evil node manipulation. That is just idiotic.
People we fight tend to be afraid to risk quality ships. Heck, for me, if I have a 1.5bil isk Faction ship sitting in station - Its on the front line in a situation like this (and yes, I have done this before and will do so again). However most of the coalation are made up of isk farmer style alliances, mining or ratting or thinking that they are contributing to a 0.0 market by selling rat loot cheaply. They play the game more for isk and less for pvp, and as such, they use the most basic or affordable setup, prefering to leave quality ships to "someone else". To cover their own greed and incompetence - they just "stick it to the man" - Blame CCP for B0B H4X!
Thats why people were shooting the Titan with crap and filling local with hundreds of ships such as frigs, noobships and other useless but cheap ships that are ineffective outside the Titan's smartbomb range. I would not be surprised if 90% of hostiles in system were in ships useless for the job. Then again, nothing really surprises me much anymore. --

Bloody hell, Goons, first you try to claim that killmails showing huge numbers of noob ships and shuttles in system at the time of the fleet fight are nonsense because 'killmails can be 'lagged for hours' in big ops. Then you try to nitpick about timings of shipkills from a doomsday device and claim 'devhax' over a matter of minutes.
Pro tip: If you're going to try to spin some paper-thin excuse for causing your allies to miss out on a titan kill due to you spamming the system with crap ships at least agree a story in advance, and stick to it.
In the meantime, all you're doing is bumping a thread about how badly you failed.

Granger, i would like to clarify something under the circumstances that seems to be often forgotten by the general forum-posting community: adding features/graphics upgrades/ambulation/feeding wild Icelandic squirrels is not mutually-exclusive when paired with improving server stability.
Per Hilmar's announcement at the fanfest, a whole new cluster is being built to house TQ, which along with a fundamental rework of how the game treats similar scenarios from the back end as well as potential revisions to POS warfare at large, are to solve the problem you're speaking of. The people responsible for those changes are largely independent from, say, the design cell or programmers handling features of the kind, the artists, or people working on ambulation.
Once again, ccp knows about all of this being a problem but at the moment it simply cannot be helped, and something like diverting artists from what they're doing will do absolutely f-all to change it. We just have to tough it out a little longer to see how the game will turn out once the changes are in place, i just hope bob lasts long enough to see the day we can exclude lag from major combat factors.

Yep did a doublecheck those three are the only rookie/shuttle kills on the board during that time period.
If those ships were dreads............
I only see 4 rookie ships and 2 shuttles on your killboard, I think you need to work on your math there :psyduck:

Moore's Law and the exponential rate of change in technology tells us that this whole issue is not far off being irrelevant. From CCP's point of view, it just better business to invest in attracting new players and ride out the whiners until the technology can support this fairly easily. We are almost there already. The next server cluster will probably NOT fix the problem completely, but the one after that certainly will.
This means that by the time I have enough SP to fly decent ships with decent fittings into battle, the problem will most likely have evaporated.

you didn't want those carriers, regions, stations, ships, allies, reputation anyway. You just want titans.
Good priorities.
Maybe you're new to eve and the series of tubes. It's ok, I forgive you.
Carriers: ships meant to be used in combat. Yes, we like those. We use them in combat. They die and they kill you. Yours die and yours kill people. Good one.
Regions: territory. BoB was made to pvp. Lifting our leg and lubricating on your face by taking regions from you and others has given us what we desire and have always desired, pvp. We have regions and we have had regions. We have given, shared, and lost, and taken them. You have done the same.
Stations: see above. Back in the day I used to run around taking enemy stations by myself simply to provoke a response. Did I care when a mouthy 5th grader and his 17 friends came just for me and I left? (No.) But when they sent 1 or 2 mouthy newbies, I would enjoy dismantling them.
Ships: are carriers not ships? See above, bookend.
Allies: people to fight other people with. conversely, ex people to fight people with who we now fight. What I just said may be well above your intellect, but if you understood me explaining BoB's nature concerning pvp, please try harder to insinuate a loss.
Reputation: lol. yea, we've always cared about that.
Please tell me you are not the best of the Goon's elementary all star forum warriors. Please dear God.

This is regarded as a victory for BoB.
part of being better than everyone else is also being better at losing things, obviously.
Or better at reading at least. I'm not sure but I think the thread even has a title regarding it's nature. The word you're looking for is titan. You know, the titan incident yesterday that invoked the tears of many thousand goons? Yea, that one.

So BoB goes from controlling our game to considering it a win when we **** and moan about almost killing one of their Titans.

I think you missed the point. BoB wins by killing hundreds of you while not losing what you wanted to kill. Your moaning is just a bonus.

you're going to have to do better than that. you have 10,000 wet behind the ears forum troopers who log into eve as a secondary timesink. i understand this very well, and it doesn't make you anything except good fodder.
more, please.
