Well....technically if Dumbass A buys implants to win and ends up losing he fails to begin with...
Besides that cruisers will NOT be able to lock your pod before you can warp off in a pod. (so if you are really that worried warp off ASAP)

Have you guys considered hooking up with EVE-TV? It appears you are planning to produce videos yourselves, but maybe if you ask spiral then you could get some broadcast time for these videos of yours some time ebfore or during the Fifth Alliance Tournament (and maybe you could even get spiralJunkie and StevieSG participate as a team... oh dear, I can see it now ).

question on match start.
so 4 pilots and 1 ref gang up,warp to the arena, steal each others cans. then warp out, warp back in, start shooting? need a little clairification on the rules there.

I read the rules and I am a bit annoyed by the restriction of finding a partner who is less than one year difference with me...
I found a corpmate who is interested but he is close to two years older than me, can I be considered as one year younger than him (older than I am really) and the team will work? -- Pocket drone carriers (tm) enthousiast !

can I say not allowing faction ammo is a bit silly. The vets can all use t2 ammo so this does nothing but widen the gap between them and the noobs. Considering how cheap it is I'd allow it.

Sadly, Eve TV is on a possibly-semi-permanent hiatus, not expected to return, except to cover large scale tournaments from, maybe, Feb onwards.

Taking from a gang members' can doesn't transfer aggression.
So the order will be: 1. Everyone warps to the can in the center of the arena. 2. Everyone swaps cans and gets aggro 3. Ref then gangs everyone and distributes them so fleet bonuses aren't applied 4. Ref then asks each team their starting distance 5. Ref then tells team 1 to go to their distance in one direction, team 2 to go to their distance in the other direction 6. When everyone is at distance, the spectators are clear of the arena, everyone has unlocked targets on each other and everyone is flagged and ready, the tournament starts
For the absolute avoidance of doubt, there's no warping once you're in the arena pre-match.

This rule has been altered, as per:
Originally by: el caido IMPORTANT UPDATE: Due to public outcry, the twelve month rule has been revised. I will accept a team with two players who are separated by more than a year. As a penalty against this, the team's age will be determined only by the oldest player's age. Therefore, if a 3 month old and a 2 year old enter as a team, their first match will be against a team with an average age of 2 years.
If anyone who has already registered wishes to change their team because of this, EVEmail me.
Hope that clears everything up.
Best wishes,
JNA

Fully aware of that. I'm not talking about the weekly show
Despite the fact that the show got axed, I'd wager that the guys who were EVE players before are still EVE players. They don't stop existing just like that, and they might be interested in the event.
Also, there are always breaks during the tournament broadcasts, usually halfway through the day, where spiral stuffs his face with pizza and we usually get to see pre-recorded footage or fanfest recaps. Maybe they would be inclined to put the video material you guys record of your Cruiser tourney in there somewhere? Maybe they could pick up the topic on air while waiting for a match to start, or maybe even devote a few minutes to a concise summary/feature report? I don't know, but they might know! That's what I was suggesting to ask.

I see why the ref has to gang with the participants, to avoid people making a gang of 3 and having someone external to the match toss gang bonii, but I think it disadvantages characters (like myself) who have invested in the leadership tree. We're in cruisers so no gang links but I still think if someone's burned the SP for 10% armor or shield or speed or whatever bonus, they should be allowed to utilize it.
For enforcement purposes, you would need two refs per match, one to form a gang with each team. Each team could specify the gang booster for the match before the match begins and the ref can retain fleet leadership in order to ensure nothing fishy goes on. If a player leaves the gang, they're disqualified.
I think that system is eminently fair to all players involved, the only issue being one of people - could you get two Refs for every match? - and if this isn't possible for the initial round(s), could it be implemented in the later rounds, where there are fewer competitors?

Do both team members have to start at the same distance or can one start at 10km while the other is at 70km?

RK, great suggestion! If we can gather enough referee overlap, I would love to put it in action.
And Del, each player elects his/her starting distance. Both ships on a team do not need to start from the same spot.

I hope you guys scan ships for everything forbidden : including the cargo for forbidden ammo.
Also, is nanite repair paste allowed? This thing could make some difference in a fight I guess... Overloading can be powerful. (I don't have the skills, but by wingmate may have it)
I can't see blogspot sites from work, when is the deadline to apply for the tournament?

Nanite repair paste is allowed.
Passive targeters are not allowed, thanks for pointing this out.
Of course the referees will be scanning for illegal modules.
I'll make some revisions and add FAQs in the first post as soon as possible. :)

Hi, sounds very good to me and I would really like to participate :)
Is there a specified daytime (EVE-time) where the matches will start? This is because I can play EVE in the evenings only
Thx, Mary

Would you even need the two refs? Just split each team into a separate squad, set squad boosters, head to starting distance and let 'em rip. Put the ref in a third squad so his bonuses don't affect anyone else. -------------------- ICE Blueprint Sales FIRST!! -Yipsilanti Pfft. Never such a thing as a "last chance". ;) -Rauth |

makes perfect sense to me. satisfies all three major considerations - team's leadership bonii are applied internally, team does not get the benefit of opponent's bonii, and ref's bonii are applied to no one. any reason this wouldn't work?

*Smacks Head*
That makes a lot more sense then having two gangs. There's a lot less overhead involved and the one ref can keep track of all participants directly. As long as the ref is in a third squad, as you noted, there's no danger of the ref tossing bonii to the participants. This way we don't have to worry about overlapping refs, and folks who have worked for leadership skills can take advantage of those abilities. ------------------------------------------

As the SAK EVEnt crew is not CCP affiliated, we cannot guarantee - though we shall do everything to protect - your safety. Competitors who belong to a warring corp/alliance should be especially wary.
I sincerely hope that no one would take advantage of this tournament in such a way, but not everyone is an honorable as I'd like.

RK, Jurgen - great suggestion. We've chatted amongst the ref pool and we can all have (if we don't already) Wing Command II to put this into effect. tyvm for the suggestion. ------------------------------------------------- When Carebears Attack! <-- Hulk PvP video |

just a side note, plz plz everyone fit a cloak...
would really make my day, because: 1. Cuts down your scan resolution by what... 25%? 2. Cuts down your dps, by quite a lot on some ships. 2. if you cloak, your in a gang with me and All i have to do is spam the warp to member and by merit of me not being cloaked and being faster than you I'll approach you and eventually decloak you in which time I'll probably end up killing you before the 30 seconds of recalibration time is up. and even if you do manage to get a lock on me, did i mention your dps is going to suck?
So please everyone... fit a cloak.
