Is Spain invaded Gibralter, I would think that would put them in a very bad position with the rest of the EU, they wouldn't do that. Gibralter also is a military base, it can hold it's own for long enough for reinforcements, and the Falklands is an example of how far Britain is willing to go for it's dependencies - war ain't gonna happen.

Gibralter was ceeded centuries ago, the people that live there are several generations down the line Brits who want to remain British and have a right to self detrimention (sp?) and had a refferendum to keep Gibralter a British Dependancy my an overwhelming majority. That realy should settle it in most books.
Exactly. Same situation with Ceuta and Melilla. Or even the Basque Country.
Some, while indulging in their patriotic onanism and historical flights of fancy, apparently forget or neglect what it is that the people living there actually want. "For the people, but without the people".

Which is why, thankfully, I have not posted in Kirjava's "Just another thought" thread. Every response I considered was nationalistically slanted and bereft of content.
Couldn't possibly imagine what your talking about...

Wouldn't mind visiting Gibraltar, one of the few places in Europe that I havn't been too.

The reason i put that "which is not is spain, so don't dare say it"...is because my friends are b**tards and call Spanish just to p*ss me off!!! Especially when im drunk...then i get stupidly p*ssed off sometimes.
Its was not a cheap shot at the Spanish...i even love going to Spain and the Spanish people...I am partial to a portion of Aljmehas (sp?)

To be honest, i think most Brits or Spaniards don't really remember Gibraltar is there apart from when some British or American nuclear sub pops up there with a leak and needs repairs, then it hits the Spanish press - oh the environmental disaster waiting to happen, why do the Brits have this base here? And the British press starts the "Go away itÆs ours etc etc" routine then after a week everyone forgets about the place.
Love to go there - because they have monkeys, and after all, monkeys rock!

Gibraltar: Captured by ZAFT in the First Valentine War and used as a staging area for operations across Europe and North Africa. Recaptured by the Earth Alliance late in the war. Recaptured by ZAFT at the beginning of the Second Valentine War.
Wait, what were we talking about?

Or so Maggie wanted Argentina to think so she could have a little war followed by a victory and another term in office. Nearly didn't work out that way. But thats another story.
If you look at the political build some time before the war you can see why they thought they UK wouldn't give a flying fig. /start sig I love old characters that post 'I've beeen playing the game four years' when I know their account has been sold on. /end sig |

/sings I predict a lock, I predict a lock!
Thought I'd try something new. Not sure I'll keep it.
The primary reason why Gibraltar is still owned by the UK (despite the efforts of BOTH the Spanish and British governments) is because the Gibraltarians (word?) have said no. The place is of nil strategic relevance today, so the only value the land has is in whatever the 30k or so inhabitants invest in it. And since 99% (of a turn out of 88%) voted a no to joint sovereignty in 2002, it's fairly obviously not a goer. ------

The Falklands/Malvinas were not "ceded", nor given by any treaty. Taken by force, and never returned. Every right to regain back by same force then, in my book. But as I donŠt want to open this huge can of worms, IŠll leave it there. Just wanted to point that out.
As to the OP, the 4 dudes I know keep playing EVE quite a lot. Not been able to log this day, but I emilaed them this this thread, so they should talk to you soon, if they do.
