Wondering if there are any EVE players that were born in Gibraltar (my birthplace) or that currently reside in good ol' Gibraltar.
I love the place and can't wait to go back as i have not been in a few years. The weather is great, the beaches are nice, the people are ace...and everyone speaks english. Also the food is lush, and everything about the place is just pure coolness.
GOD I LOVE GIBRALTAR!!!

I know 3 (maybe 4, if that dude didnŠt quit) that live in Gibraltar and play EVE... IŠll re-direct them to this thread if they want to meet you.
Though I bet they wonŠt like the title of your thread

Edited by: Isiskhan on 10/01/2008 01:28:57 Regarding the title of the thread, I'm Spanish and I do know people whose blood would boil at it. Personally, I couldn't care less about these sort of territorial pissings.
What I do find funny, is when the same people that claim the UK should return Gibraltar to Spain, go on to vehemently defend Spain keeping a couple of isolated territories in Northern Africa (Ceuta and Melilla) in the face of similar claims by Morocco - territories that are now under Spanish sovereignty for pretty much the same historical reasons why Gibraltar is under British rule.
Nationalisms... ugh...

So what exactly is Gibraltar anyway? Since I am a US American, and don't have access to a map, and my education such as in South Africa and the Iraq, everywhere like such as.
So anyway, my first guess would be that Gibraltar is a Spanish Item. Next would be to guess that it is a Portugese Item. After that, I would like such as guess that it is a British Protectorate. Is this correct? ----- TANSTAAFL

Actually after thinking about looking up some info as a US American I think it is a territory of like such as puerto rico.

Wikipedia describes it as such The awesomeness that is Gibraltar
Basically a samll stretch of land that the Btitish conquered hundreds of years ago from Spain, and became a strategic naval base during the World Wars as you had to go past it as it was at the entrance to the Meditterranian (sp?)

It's not much more than a frigging rock hanging at the tail end of Cadiz. It's become nevertheless a traditional friction point between some Spaniards and the UK. So much ado about nothing...

Indeed. I count 21 images in that article. Which is three shy of the two dozen that is the minimum requisite for any US American to even deign to notice. Can't you do it in a four panel comic? Please, for to be like of as? ----- TANSTAAFL

And if they weren't, they would realize if they took Gibraltar, they would have no legitimate reasons for keeping Ceuta and Melilla.

Which is why, thankfully, I have not posted in Kirjava's "Just another thought" thread. Every response I considered was nationalistically slanted and bereft of content. ----- TANSTAAFL

I hope everyone gets the joke there, because I lol'd pretty friggin' hard.
I think a good comparison that the US Americans might get is Guantanamo Bay. Its a part of the island of Cuba but is under US control dispite Cuban protest. ------ Any factual errors or mistakes in spelling and grammar should be attributed solely to me and not my nation of origin. |

Thankyou Gibralter was ceeded centuries ago, the people that live there are several generations down the line Brits who want to remain British and have a right to self detrimention (sp?) and had a refferendum to keep Gibralter a British Dependancy my an overwhelming majority. That realy should settle it in most books.
