My Desktop AMD X2 5000+, 2GB, 8600GT 512MB, Vista 32bit is running premium client just fine.
On my laptop Intel T7250, 2GB, X1350 128MB, Vista 32bit I am running classic. Premium is too much for that graphics card.

mmm i cant properly run a single client with premium... it will run... and i might be able to see something other than a slideshow sometimes.

If you are having trouble running more than 1 client in trinity set you cache to low or even off in the ingame gfx options.
edit: Also have a look at your overall memory usage ctrl+alt+del processes and make sure something else running on your pc isnt hogging memory.

Installed it, lost my Boot.ini, rebuilt boot.ini, waited for patch to see if performance improved, turned it off and went back to classic.
It looked nice but was not practical.

It crashes fairly regularly, I don't have a problem with the classic client. My machine is more than powerful enough to run 1 instance of the premium client (hell, it could run 2) but nothing makes the crashing worth it.

1gb of RAM, 256mb X1600 graphics card... still was a bit rubbish in the FPS department, although admittedly I didn't fiddle with the settings.
Went back to classic within 10 minutes. I don't care much for graphics, it's the gameplay I enjoy :)

Most of my problems with the premium stuff went away when I changed the default 'high' cache settings to low. With high it did a lot of HD access (guess 1 gig isn't enough RAM for it) which caused bad stuttering, and dual clienting was almost impossible. With low cache, it runs almost like classic, just very slightly sluggish at times with dual accounts. This is on an X2 3800 box with a 7600GT card.

Having gone through another hellish ordeal of driver installations and uninstallations in another attempt to stop EVE from BSoDing, I have learned one lesson which may be helpful for those of you having trouble with premium.
If you have an nVidia graphics card, don't use any 169 series drivers. Just don't. Don't.
Seriously though. Don't.

I used premium the first few weeks when it came out. It worked quite nicely, no lag, looks beautiful etc.
However, ever since the first Trinity patch, I have been getting the oddest glitches, from the entire station interior breaking down into tiny triangles, to my ship being elongated into infinity when undocked and flying around, and a whole bunch of other graphical glitches.
Seeing as how I can't think of anything that I could have done to cause this (Same old stable graphics drivers, no windows updates, no new programs installed.. In fact, I've done very little with my comp lately.. O_o), I've decided to switch back to Classic for now. :)
That, and fleet fights are absolutely horrid with premium. Anything over 100 people in local, and the entire thing just becomes a slide show as if I was running EvE on a pentium I. O_o

I did... It seems when you have a gfx card on its last legs (7300 GT) and are running two 1240x1028 monitors it can't quite take it.
Well, premium + old graphics card + Stupid resolution = Odd burning smell.
Also, Aussie summers are no good for computers =/

Running 2 clients on premium is pretty choppy, 3 is impossible. Back to classic for me.

I've been trying to put together a new computer for 8 months now, but every time I get close to having the cash RL smokes me with the need for truck repairs or the like.

Well, unfortunantly that's what causes most lag, a poor graphics card. The other part is just a bad system. Then it would be poor internet connection.
There are two types of lag: Video and Network. A bad video card doesn't mean bad net lag, and vice versa. Don't confuse bad FPS with bad internet connection.

Those running premium with two clients running fine, what settings have you got?
I have a 4200x2, 4gb mem, vista64, 8800gt and 1 is fine as, 2 and the game grinds to a halt.
I can force 12xaa on one client no problems (110 fps,in station, 70 in space), two clients with no aa the comp ****s a brick :S
