What you say is true, but keep in mind that RA was almost extinct before it even became obvious that BoB would beat ASCN. They survived thanks to 23/7 scouts and logoff/login traps. RA had somewhat pressure on them (I used to roam in goon/RA space, no defence, easy kills from their ratters) but RA played cheezy tactics and enemies underestimated them.
BoB vs ASCN was the smacktalking exploiters that abused game mechanics to beat the biggest and richest alliance in game. RA would've been gone (well probably popped up under a new tag) if the old alliances would've been bothered to fight dirty against dirty play. ASCN vs BoB would've looked different as well.
As much as I miss ASCN I still /shrug when things like this happens. We know success in EVE is dependant on (ab)using game mechanics, cheezy tactics, scams etc to your advantage. RA survived thanks to that. RA grew strong thanks to that. And as long as noone fight them back with dirty tactics they will probably keep beating those that fight with 'honour' or whatever.
It doesn't pay off to be a good guy in EVE. But kudos to DMC for refusing to sell titans at that price. Some poor diplomacy, some bad defence vs Pure. perhaps, but at least they got balls and integrity. Too bad that also means you'll be extinct soon enough. At least you'll die with your spine intact.

In my personal opinion this is the main reason (among several) for what is happening. It's interesting that notwithstanding all the DMC's whining and hysterics, the obvious answer that it was their greed that destroyed them will eventually come out as the clearest explanation.

Since no-one has really explained it yet, I'll just try and clarify from what I've been reading on our forums (I wasn't there for any of this, so it's probably wrong):
Ka-Tet and DMC are both blue to Atlas. RA is red. Some Atlas guys (and quite probably Chaos guys, dunno, I wasn't there) were doing a roaming gate camp type thing. Some Te-Ka guys (Ka-Tet's little sister) jump in to our gate camp and, much to the camp's surprise, start shooting us. We shoot back. Some Ka-Tet (still assumed blue) ships jump in and reinforce the Te-Ka guys. After some fisticuffs, the KT/TK fleet warp on towards DMC space; naturally, our guys follow them. Some of the guys on site hacve said that they presumed that KT and DMC were still blue and that they were heading for some blue stations- instead, we find that they've started shooting DMC.
Suffice it to say, our guys joined DMC (still blue to us) in shooting the K-T guys, and pew ensues. Over the next little while, two things happen: a K-T mothership gets itself bubbled (don't even know who's bubble it was, don't think it was one of ours) and the various nearby Atlas/CI/DMC guys swarm it, and Atlas/CI/DMC organise a foray in to K-T space. RA resets DMC.
Not really sure, but I don't think anyone in Atlas really got around to any politics until that point. But anyhow, we decide to stick with DMC against RA (who were red to us anyway, after all), and now it's today and there are lots of drama threads.
Any and all of the above is probably wrong. Go ask someone important if you really want to know.

First, i want to say "Thanks" (c) to Atlas, Chaos, Roadkill, Pure and DMC for providing frags and fresh meat to my killboard. Thank you very Much. I am a noob and that's the best training ground possible.
Second, i want to state my own opinion about that war :
Russians have much honor. We never backstabb our REAL friends. But from my point of view - a friend that is willing to sell TITAN to my enemy - shall be terminated at once. No matter the cost.
And one more thing - DCM was blue to almost everyone. Happy, very strong manufacturing, carebear alliance. They CAN produce 2 titan per month.
And third - for the last month (from the time i joined x.i.x - OMNYX corp) - we fought atlas\SmashKill\Pure (little less) (and etc) BLOBS as hard as we could. But i'm really got tired of situations, when they drop a 40 man gang on a 5 man gang. It is SURELY most HORONORABLE way to fight the "ebil russians" ever.
So, now - strenthen all your forces and come to the battlefield of glory and fame. And let the Holy Guns and Saint Ammo supplies decide - who will be honored to survive.
