The patch itself was designed to fix an issue with the keyboard not working on the login screen.
But patch downloading after i login? I need to copy-paste my pass? Thank for working mouse :)

for all that have important things to do tonite in the eve-universe and can't login i would suggest downloading ubuntu gutsy.
DL + install will take 1 to 2 hours. install eve after that and you can at least change skill, or finish your mission etc.
but be aware that Ubuntus bootloader (grub) will remove your windows one, which is no problem at all, you can boot windows normally through it, it is only important to know if you plan to remove ubuntu afterwards. its not a big thing, but you should read how to bring back the windows bootloader before uninstalling ubuntu....
good thing is, you have a peek in a really good OS which is absolutely free....

I can assure you it is not fixed. I cannot apply the patch nor can I log in. It goes all the way to where it should switch from the login to the char select screen and it just hangs. |

Now I am worried...
I logged on just after down time, downloaded the update, Eve restarted and everything seems to have worked fine... now I hear the patch is going to be removed... --------*****-------- It takes 43 muscles to frown and 17 to smile, but it doesn't take any to just sit there with a dumb look on your face.

I have attempted to use the XP version listed above but - it does not work with Windows 2K.
first the boot.ini scandal, now this for win2k users. CCP where does it end, really?

Shame ATI support is so awful for linux. First thing I did earlier when I couldn't log in with windows... is try in linux. Success! Until I undocked... and now the linux client crashed a split second after loading So windows wont work, and I can't change skill using linux. Bugger.

Due to the patch issues we reported in the previous news item there will be a reboot to fix the issues. Tranquility will go down at 17:39 GMT and the reboot is expected to last for about 15 minutes. Please make sure your characters are out of harms way before the servers close!
We apologize for the inconvenience this reboot may cause you.

General
* A bug where Users could see that a patch was deployed was removed. * A bug where clicking the "Connect" button actually brought you in the game was removed, it restarts the login screen now instead.
Windows Client
* A bug where players on Windows 2000 Platforms were able to play the game, was fixed. Windows 2000 Users can't log in anymore. Linux and Mac Client
* Support for both operating systems will be removed soon
Homepage
* A bug where you could see the patch notes of the latest patch after clicking the "patch notes" tab in the left overview was removed, it displays the one month old patch correctly instead.

win... seriously though, not home to check to see if I was affected by this, but I was affected by the boot.ini nom nom nom... I've had rare cause to be disappointed with ccp's handling of these issues, but so close together is not exactly an encouraging thought... it seems to me things need to change on the check process so these sort of things ARE caught before launch... the absence of patch notes is maybe a goof, but not having a clear news item or motd of the situation is just negligence...

Funnily enough I'll be playing around with Linux for the rest of the evening after I've installed it to the spare HD. I'm downloading Ubuntu as I type after realising the SuSE version I have on CD is about 4 years out of date ...just wish Ubuntu used WindowMaker for a GUI

Agree, it's just unfair to let 2/3 players have opportunity other 1/3 can't login. Assault undefended structures, compete with trade orders... Why to not have the server down and fix it?

LOL at me, forget server time isn't CET so still have to wait for reboot.
Good call on the reboot CCP, stealth updates smell like Microsoft, do not do what Microsoft does, we all know it just causes us pain for thier greed.

The fact that so many people now question whether their systems/clients will boot after patches is a relatively disturbing reality. When will CCP realize theyre reputation has been tarnished beyond belief with the latest patch nightmares? =(

Wrong. You must not know a lot about OSs. Win2k uses by far the least resources (out of these 3). It crashes the least (out of these 3). You can still install drivers manually without much hassle. |

This little glitch on CCP's part is excellent! You get at least 2 pages of responses that are just LOL. Better than the funny papers, you'd think that CCP had just nuked someones cheerios. Thanks CCP, always nice to see that there are people out there who demand perfection from everyone.....except themselves.

im new to this game and its issue's
so i dont know if this error is from the patch or not. when i go to log in it dose the loading thing and auth then just sits on the screen where you put in your account and pass
if you hit the connect again it gives this error
[ 2008.01.17 16:49:59 ] (info) The client's local session information is corrupt, probably as a result of failed cleanup during a disconnect. Connecting to the server in this state could lead to a rather unpleasant game experience. Please restart the client prior to logging in.
i have done every thing but change my os and its the same error. is this from the patch or is my account jacked up?

I'm in the very unhappy camp here.
If things continue on their current course, it will only be a matter of time before I leave in protest and close all 4 of my active accounts. If I'd been hit by the Trinity boot bug, I'd not be playing now and would be talking legal action. If CCP continues to be more fast and loose with their deployment of stuff, it's only a matter of time before everyone will get their turn to experience problems on that level.
This really is due for an apology to the users here. I am in the "This borders on Malware" camp on this issue... Where was our patch warning we are supposed to get? Were was our chance to prepare or refuse to accept it that is required by law in some areas of the world? And really, when did the Paying users on Tranquility become the QA beta testers? "Testing a new patch deployment method" sounds an awful lot to me like the entire user base was used as beta testers today.
