Originally by: Dilskin There are way too many 0.0 systems with terrible true sec ratings, where the ore is the same as empire Hi Sec, and there are only cruiser rats.
Increase the spawn to battleship rats, and the ore to at least crokite/bistot, and 0.0 won't seem nearly so crowded, as folks won't all need to crowd together as much.
There are 1028 systems with ark, bist, crok or merc in eve so just over 20% of the systems in eve have at LEAST 1 of the 4 highest profit ores. Sig removed as it lacks EVE-related content. Mail [email protected] if you have questions. -Hango

Funny you should mention this. I agree. When I started awhile back, space was kind of "empty", and it was kinda cool to be out alone in space. This is the main reason I've decided to postpone playing eve for awhile. Currently, Eve is too crowded.

Yes, Eve feels cramped. This is due to lots of things, among them à
Agent Quality and Levels.
Gates. We're flying around in rooms with doors.
Can only warp to something or a book mark, over which we have limited control.
Functional space of any system is rarely more than 80AU wide.
High Sec over populated because low sec/0.0 travel risk is not more equitably mitigated, among other things.
Etc etc

0.0 is pretty empty but then again most of the empty 0.0 is pretty crappy. Whole strings of systems with no high end ore or bs rats and moons with no value. You always know when you get to the good areas though due to local jumping up from 0 to 40 with a bubble camp on the gates.

Start by removing the smuggler gates, that's the gates connecting the deep ends of space with eachother. Tenal to Cobalt Edge and Paragon Soul to Period Basis. These are the kind of things that put a needless shrink on EVE.

Pretty good comic, especially in showing how the "gankers" don't really want combat, don't want a fight, thus they are all waiting for the easy targets instead of fighting the ones already in the "PvP zone". I've never gotten how shooting fish in a barrel can be rewarding, but it sure does seem popular.
It's like cherry pickers in racing, guys who don't seek a challenge, just cheap "victories", by competing in classes/divisions they should have left a long time ago. No, that's wrong, it's actuallly like the B racers going to trackdays getting kicks out of "pwning", passing people left and right, people who are not even racing.

you sure are clueless. Fish in a barrel dont drop billions, and neither do other combat ships normally.

Remote use of agents? Being able to spawn a mission anywhere by talking to your agent. Why do u have to visit your agent to get a mission? Has the telephone been un-invented in the future?
Agents in 0.0 outpost?
Boost low sec, make it worth while to rat and mine there, instead of farming lvl4s in high sec in complete safety?

0.0 is way too empty. You can tell by the lack of markets. Since nobody is forced to live with anybody else, no coherent communities are formed. Just some people fighting, some slaves mining, and a load of alts scouting.
Now if 0.0 was 1/10th the size it is now, it might actually be interesting. But seeing as they put most of their stuff like labs in hi sec, because they "sandboxed" 0.0 into an uninhabitable latrine.
Pick the right 0.0 and you can find an empty system where nobody goes. Sadly, you will leave a trail of "Jumps in the last hour : 1" all the way across the map, and in about 45 minutes, 23 Vagabonds, 6 astartes, and 3 Rapiers will dock camp you for the next few hours until you log off and go to bed.

If you look at the number of players vs the number of galaxies, you'll find the average per galaxy is very low.
Ontop of that, you'll find that some systems have 30-50x the average ammount, meaning there's other galaxies that likely have 0-1 players to compensate for the other high-populated galaxies.
That being said, there's evidently alot of free space.. So what is the problem? The market. Players do not go solo, where there is no established market. You'll either have an established space where players go, or there isn't one and only *groups* of players go there, but almost never solo.
You simply cannot be entirely running your account on your own. You cannot own all the blueprints of every item, get all the materials, build your own pos or outpost, defend your space on your own. You need a group that establishes space, you need a group that establishes a defense, a market, a place to manufacture and dock and change fittings, etc.
Just look at our planet, there's loads of space that isn't lived on, but you aren't going there either for the logical reasons.

Having NPC agents in player owned outposts is an interesting idea.
Maybe like Amarr Agents in an Amarr Outpost, Caldari Agents in a Caldari Outpost etc.
They should be like 1 of each level quality could be increased through a purchased upgrade.
The Outpost owners could set how much of the mission reward goes to them up to a max of 50%. Obviously this benefits the station owners and the lower it is the more likely others will use it. However high charges will discourage all but the Alliance members.
It would create interesting dilemas of whether to be NBSI or NRDS. Mission HUB systems would likely make a lot of money through agent tax (Above) and have a much better market. It would however make it easier for spies to move around your home systems.
Back on topic.
The above idea may help to reduce the numbers in empire. Many people even in 0.0 alliances like to make their ISK via mission running and it is likely they would move down to their home system if there was an agent there.
It is one of several ideas of distributing resoucres in Eve to spread people out. However making moon mins run out is not practical and putting very high end ores and high end rats in all 0.0 would mean that there is no really valuable space to fight over and there will always be those who will not leave high sec because of the risk.

Indeed.
The reason that lots of 0.0 and low sec is empty is because the risk is not worth the reward. They need to put missions out there, and fix the true sec standing of many areas.

It's true!
There's a reason why those empty systems in 0.0 are empty. And its because they are absolute crap. Either they don't have targets to shoot, or they have worse returns than a hig h sec L3 agent. Who in their mind would want to go there? Nobody. Thus, empty.

I was talking to a friend about this as well, Eve does feel pretty damn cramped in hi-sec these days since no matter where you go, always seems like you're bumping into other people - not exactly what you think of for a 'massively' multiplayer space game.
Why haven't the agents and asteroid fields been spread out better? The subscriber count keeps growing like crazy, yet we keep getting packed into the same area just like that cartoon which is too close to the truth as far as hi-sec to low-sec.

when eve was peaking at 3k people online it was sweet
now it's 30k it's less than sweet
but the problem is that so much of the player base refuses to enter low sec much less 0.0
i mean you see it all the time
"my idea on how to populate lowsec " by ...
but the truth is all you have to do ... is go there really it doesn't need a patch just some B@lls .
until more players realize that the risk is minimal and the rewards great they will be affraid of 0.0 - low sec and high sec will be crowded

It's a galaxy, full of populated planets. Pod pilots are the elite, but there should still be lots of them. Yes, it sucks when half a dozen alliances have already scanned that moon, but that's life.
Edit: I'm currently flying through a 0.7 Gallente system. It has a station and 'roid belts. And one other person in local. And there are 33,000 people on ATM.

when i started eve had less then 7k players at peak, now it has40+k at peak, in all that time ccp only added a few regions, nobody lives in those empty systems cuz simply there is nothing there worth living there, so the number of people in the systems worth living in has increased exponentially.
Time ccp made more systems worth while to live in. CCP, let us pay the online shop with Direct Debit!!! Magners is now recruiting, evemail me or Dagazbo ingame.

yes there is empty 0.0 systems. but we talking crappy true sec and low on belts.
add more belts and sort the true sec. i know ccp said they would never fix the true sec, i also know that ccp's goal was 10k players online at the same time.
sort the true sec. when you are 40+ jumps from high sec you kinda expect better true sec than -0.04..
