You guys realize that my OP is a joke right? Apparently everybody but the self important noobs like Kehmor get it.
Being a pirate is a state of being. It's how you conduct yourself. High sec ganking, empire wars, corp infiltration and thievery. It's all good.
But being red flashy and -10 just makes you look a lot prettier when you're ripping the innards out of someone's pod, don't you think?

Could you quote your OP and point out where the joke starts and the pathetic stops?

Well you'd be surprised what people have tried to argue on these boards throughout time.
I do agree, though, all-out yarrness IS a state of mind.

If less than 75% of your corp/alliance members are -10, YOU ARE NOT IN A PIRATE CORP FFS.
As you were.
Edited to revise cutoff to -9.0 or less. Yarrr.
So in your world, a 6 man corp including 2 hauler alts wouldnt be able to call themselves pirates? How about just letting people decide for themselves what they are?

I respect all forms of Piracy. But there is a special place in my heart for fellow outlaws (flashy reds).
And don't worry Kehmor, Anti-pies are still Pirates...sort of.

Sorry bud, when you enter a low sec system with a 5.0 sec stat and start screaming "Y4rrr!!" in local and you actually think you're a Pirate, its difficult to convince me.

My corp recruits quite a bit , mostly new players starting with 0 sec status , so it takes them a while to reach -10. As a result , less than half of the corp is below -9. Yet , all we do is pirate people (and farmbots) all day long.

Pirates are honestly epeen boosting n00bs that use most of their time to gank haulers. Real men PvP in 0.0 space. Low sec is for us carebears to mine, rat and run missions. Honestly, why you would bully innocent people that just want to make money in low sec.

Because that's piracy? Besides, we have to make money too
Saying they are all noobs isn't strictly true, I *know* and *fly* with a *lot* of pirates who are far from noobs!

Edited by: General Coochie on 23/01/2008 19:14:48 Empire wars is totally legal in EvE so I really wouldn't count that as piracy..
And since ppl think we can decide what we are, I'm one of the better mission runners in eve, the fact that I did about 10 missions total in my eve life has nothing to do with it of course.
Id like to call myself pirate and I don't wanna be mixed up with the vermin thieving ore and scamming ppl.

The same goes for the -9,999 people who go "Yarr!!" because they can have a 10 man gatecamp from a high-sec gate into lowsec and shoot whatever mission runner that jumps through.
Standings doesn't mean jack.

Wrong. Sec status give a strong indication of what you do. There is a difference between a 5.0 and a -10. If sec status didn't mean jack, how come outlaws can't access high security space?

A lot of interesting views on piracy in here. From my POV the pirate title is simply a RP idea, I ransom when I need money, I gate camp when my AO is dead/slow, I gank ppl that rat in low sec (noobs?), I fight other groups of like minded people. I prefer to have a low sec status because I believe it is the most difficult and enjoyable way to play Eve, everything requires a plan.
I just enjoy challenging pvp, which leads to why I only log in to change skills, being in a large gang to gank 1-2 ppl is not enjoyable or challenging yet that is all that is available to do.

REAL pirates corps are all -10 and do not have alts (in corp or out of corp) that can enter high sec. A pirate lives in low sec and does all their business in low security systems. If you have an alt account that hauls, trades, missions in high sec to make isk, why the **** are you pirating?
