So i see alot of people saying they hate the new forum but i just have to say im really liking it right now.. I barely ever used to post on the old one but with this one im posting alot more than usual..
I know people are angry about the NeX store and all the bugs.. I am too and i also want alot of things changed just like you all do.. But it seems people are bitter about everything CCP does because they only ever see the bad now.. Granted there are ALOT of bad things happening.. But some are good and shouldnt be treated as bad things just because you dont like other things that are happening..
Too many keyboard warriors who flame everything in sight just because they can..
Who else likes the new forum?

And I sincerely hope all the crap ppl put with sigs/tags etc. can be turned off if they are put on.
I like what I read to be fast and easy to find. It's a forum not a gallery. |

I have to agree, the new forums load faster, look better, are easier to read, and even though I miss my signature, it is an all around upgrade.

I agree, having all tools in one place (EvE Gate) is a great idea. I can now be at work and do deals by EvE Mail to in game players, post on the forums, like cheese etc etc. |

I like the new forums, especially because of the direct integration of EVE Gate.
It's much easier to look up posters and get an impression of their general stance on the game, ponder corporations and alliances.
Most important: not having to log on every quarter of an hour (apparently).
Also all that space makes the flames more bearable.

Ok, I will admit that it's nice to be able to look up a poster and see that they're posting with a character that's only 13 days old telling me that they are either a sock puppet, newbie, or paid shill without having to log into the game.

They aren't forcing at all, you can play EvE all you want and don't have to use EvE Gate at all. |

Like the look, like the new features, hate the high usage of javascript(really? gotta use JS just to pick a link thread to read?), hate the lack of signatures worth looking at, and really miss the pics. SOME of those pics were informative, and the rest were funny(usually).

Seems to function in my smartphone browser quite well, even moves the screen as I type with one thumb. No complaints with function currently but then I try not to get fancy anyways when on a phone which is what I read the forums on 90% of the time anyways. |

You can change the background in your EVE Gate profile settings. There are several to chose from (personally I use the Amarr one, of course; 'cause I need all my slaves to remember that their place in my life is in the dust (514; I mean, who on Earth pays for their mercenaries? Hmmm, strange. It works fine for me. Then again, I am using Chrome and I did not test this on Firefox. However, our web QA does test this on Firefox/Chrome/IE, so it may be a browser/cookie/cache setting. |

I've tested this will three difference browsers and they all behave the same. Only problem I had initially was if I changed my background while I was logged into the forum, it didn't apply or remember during session changes. I had to actually log out of the forum and back in to keep the background across session changes.

Could you all please switch to the Amarr background before they call the police? I know it might sound like a weird solution but the Amarr background has the best sound insulation.

Probably a problem with the cookiee settings on your browser, the background selection is working fine for me, although i did find that changing it while on a gate page it didn't stick for the forum and i had to ctrl+f5 it to get the selection to show. Probably somethign to do with session cookiee timeers or something. |

Possible but unlikely to be a cookie setting, as I don't overly care about cookie "privacy" and have my browser set to accept all cookies from all sites. I also have the same problem on my Mac and my windows box. If it's not a forum problem, then it may be a Chrome issue, as I use the same browser on both computers...
Edit - That being said, I've re-applied the background setting, and it may be sticking this time... |

Well it resets for me because I'm not logged in yet.
The second I log into the forums, the background I set in my preferences appears.
Has this been fixed or was that just the issue all along (you weren't logged in)?

The only black mark [imo] to these new forums are the preview boxes when your mouse cursor hovers over a topic, very frustrating. A lot better than the first iteration, at least you can get rid of the stupid pixel bed!

It's nice, fairly clean looking but it does need a bit of work, though there is that thread on applying some other styles to it... That should help some folks out.

I'm pretty happy as well. This round of forums has solved my two biggest beefs with the old forums, which were the way it logged you out during long poasts and the way the default character thing was cookie based, which meant you sometimes alt-posted (or main-posted) by accident.
I'm not sure it was worth having the incarna expansion, but taken on its own, its pretty good. |

I wish the portraits were smaller since them combined with the poster information often takes up more vertical real estate than the post. Otherwise I like the new forums. |

You can opt for the "compact view" somewhere in the top right corner. I had the same issue as you and that pretty much solved it for me. |

Click the "Compact view" button found in the thread title bar...your portrait will magically shrink and information except for character name will go into the character dropdown list

I like the new forums now that they work, and the Gallente background looks very nice indeed. Also the jump to forum function is a time-saver. |

If you think they don't you need a dose of reality. In fact they'd be stupid not to have such. It's standard PR stuff in this day and age.
Paid posters are used to drive traffic, generate discussion and yes, push idea's and products. this isn't conspiracy theory stuff this is just the way the world works.

Actually think of it more of a inverse filter.
The more Likes a person gets the less likely they will have anything of interest to say.
This is an EVE Forum
Therefore in the end the Trolls will have the highest number of likes.
Or you could just ignore it all together. |
