While you cannot petition against the method of kill, it's perfectly legit to smart bomb ships as they come out of warp.
You may try to petition the loss of your pod. If you do in fact have logs saying "Jumping", then so will the GM's
My guess is your ship was destroyed as it came out of warp BEFORE you clicked jump (While you exiting warp, a smartbomb can hit you), and the pod was destroyed while you were "Jumping"
Bottom line, you wont get your ship back...but maybe the pod

Unless you saw yourself in the next system and local had changed over before you woke up in the clone bay, you obviously didn't make it in time. "Jumping..." does not equal "Jumped" sadly. ---------------- Tarminic - 31 Million SP in Forum Warfare Play EVE: Downtime Madness v0.78.2 |

I think you should not because it is only a Taranis and it costs only a few million ISKs. So it is a waste of time submitting a petition. If it was a battleship and worth millions then it is worth petitioning. --------- Technica impendi Caldari generis. Pax Caldaria!

So does it take over 22 seconds to jump into a system at 54m from a gate??? No it doesnt. I had jumped according to me and my log. It does not take 22 seconds to get through a gate, at 54m off it . I dont care about the ship. What i do care about is the game working correctly, and when i jump i would like to think that means i have. If this is not the case then how long does it take to jump?? 22 seconds seems along time my friend.

You will probably not get your ship back, here is why:
- Smartbomds were probably active continously - Therefore your ship was most likely destroyed while it was coming out of warp, before it would be possible to activate the jump gate - With the destruction of your ship, there is a 30 second session change counter before your pod could jump - Your pod would certainly be destroyed in less than those 30 seconds
As for your logs, server side logs would override anything claimed by your client. You client might have recorded your attempt to jump before the server acknowledged that the jump had taken place and before it had received notification that your ship had been destroyed.
The fact that your client was displaying information that was slightly behind what was happening on the server would not have changed the out come of the encounter. Even if your client was perfectly responsive, you would have still lost both your ship and your pod.
You can try petitioning if you think that something else might have caused your ships destruction, but I would expect any petition in a case like this to be a waste of time for both you and the GM.

That's great, and lag isn't a valid reason for reimbursement. Still. So no, you shouldn't petition it. ---------------- Tarminic - 31 Million SP in Forum Warfare Play EVE: Downtime Madness v0.78.2 |

Jenny III, the rigs alone on a ceptor can be more than some tier 1 Battle ships. And depending where you get them as much as a tier 2. Then you have some that pimp them out with faction fittings. So use some math and do a market search. You might be surprised. Lead follow or get the hell out of the way! |

why do you have to wait 30 seconds to jump after the destrution of your ship??? If this is the case then that is why i couldnt jump. i was not aware of this? I have previously jumped straight away after a ship has been popped?? as for the ship it was a bog standard Taranis nothing on it, but the issue is the game working correctly not the cost.

Edited by: Jenny Spitfire on 24/01/2008 20:03:57 Angel, if a pod loss is only a couple of millions, I still think it is better to absorb it than to petition. It is not that expensive and saves GMs time for someone else with bigger issues. It is not like it is a few hundred million ISKs pod.

No it's nothing new. When you change ships for ANY reason there is a session change timer of 30 seconds. It has always been that way. If you eject and try to jump, guess what, session change.
It clearly denies you permission to jump. It says 'session change in progress' so now I'm wondering why you insisted that your logs said you jumped.
Edit: it is a matter of experience. Eve has terrible documentation. I don't think anyone is going to argue with that. If you want to petition them, tell them their documentation sucks, but this is not a bug and the game is working "as intended"

Examples of session change timer messages:
- "Just a moment while I finish gathering my senses.I'm pretty sure I can do it within 16 seconds." - "You're halfway onboard already. Please wait.Estimated time left for getting the other half aboard is 28 seconds." - "Can't do that while undocking. You should be squeezed out in 20 seconds." - "Please wait while ship is entering hangar.Scotty, the docking manager estimates 23 seconds left."
I had none of these or any other messages to this affect warning me of my session change???

Widgetman,
Simple answer is to feel free to Petition it, both ship and pod... just don't get your hopes up.
We trust the GM's to look at what they look at and make the decision... we may not agree with what they see, but we trust them to look. --------*****-------- It takes 43 muscles to frown and 17 to smile, but it doesn't take any to just sit there with a dumb look on your face.

Okay, so it doesn't show, in your logs, the appropriate "session change in progress" message. Either way, no bug caused you to lose your pod, just a normal game mechanic you happen to not be aware of...despite playing this game for over three years. Once again, what valid reason do you have to petition this loss? ---------------- Tarminic - 31 Million SP in Forum Warfare Play EVE: Downtime Madness v0.78.2 |

Ok so if i eject from ship i agree that is an action by me, my own decision and i should have to wait 30 seconds to jump. However if my ship is popped by a third party that is not my decision so why do i then have to wait ??? Any way if i do have to wait 30 seconds to jump, then i have no right to petition. But after 4 years of Eve thats new to me, i was not aware of that rule.
