When I tried to re-open it, it showed the splash screen and nothing more. The Eve client is down at the task bar, and it shows up in the task manager as ExeFile.exe, but that's it.

Its a stealth patch/hot fix that CCP has implemented. They just need to un-roll the patch and get it fixed then redeploy. This is non-sense to leave the game broken and give no explanation and no advice on how to fix the issue at hand. Think you can run your EVE Logger and copy and paste the errors you get like I did above? Maybe we're both running into the same errors. Also, run graphics card you running? It took up the whole screen but there was a big blue box around the edges of the screen, and at the top it said EVE and there were 3 boxes at the top-right corner, one of which was red and had an X in it. I hope that you know what I am talking about, because I can't explain it any better so I clicked exit and I quit alright. then I tried to start up EVE again and it went into the splash screen and then an error box popped up and it had some long number and letter sequence in it, however, on the top it said 'Error: No disk'. I had a trial account and had upgraded and didn't have a disc. I restarted my computer and tried to play the game, and the issue you all seem to be expeiriencing happened to me

C:\Documents and Settings\%username%\Local Settings\Application Data\CCP\EVE - local settings is a hidden folder. Oh, btw, I un-and-reinstalled EVE, and got this same BS. Even deleted settings and cache, and get an error similar to before, with the added benefit of flickering system modality. Makes it a pain to try to close it with Task Manager. I don't know what broke in between last patch and now, but I'd appreciate it if you'd at least respond to this thread. It's obvious that it's more than a single-user issue.

Come on, CCP, I paid way in advance to play this game, and your last patch prevents me from getting past the splash screen (can't even get to client ui to dl or anything). If I uninstall and reinstall, no help. I even put in a ticket on this and they don't even have the courtesy to reply to the ticket.

What really ****es me off is CCP's response (or lack there of). I've only recently started playing EVE and love the game to death, but it has some of the worst customer support I've ever had to deal with. I'm nearly 100% convinced this error is strictly on CCP's side; the game was running perfectly fine only to have this happen over night. Nothing has changed on my part.

Ghost Goat	Posted - 2008.01.31 18:38:00 - [26] While i was trying to solve a problem of BSOD during playing EVE (Error Message: STOP 0x000000EA THREAD_STUCK_IN_DEVICE_DRIVER (Q293078)) i might have stumbled upon a fix for you guys , then again i might not but its worth a shot . after i got a random crash and submitted a crash report to microsoft i was forwarded to MS support site and got this as possible fix : 1. Click Start, click Control Panel, and then double-click Display. 2. Click the Settings tab, and then click Advanced. 3. Click the Troubleshoot tab, move the Hardware Acceleration slider to None, and then clear the Enable Write Combing check box. Click OK, and then click OK. Note: This procedure prevents the display driver from programming the hardware incorrectly, but you may lose some display functionality and performance. so i went ahead and done that , and guess what , got the problem you talking about , after splash screen eve minimized to tray and u cant open it . it seems that at least on my system , if the acceleration slider is at anything but full , i get this error , if i move it back to full acceleration the problem dissolves . so check your acceleration slider ,and if its anything but full try changing it , hope that will help .

Luckily my newer PC still works, but i cant imagine how frustrated i would be if i only had one computer, just started playing this month and it fails in less than 20 days fix it please

I bought this card because my old GeForce 6600 was crashing a lot on the new trinity graphics engine. Seems like I traded one problem for another. /me sighs
