It seems that the 2 remaining solowtfpwnmachines are the Ishtar and the Curse. I wonder if they were intended to be flown as "haha can't catch me when I'm doing 6k forever" nanoships, being far superior to Vagabonds (the original and only authentic nanoship).
The Ishtar does more DPS than a Vagabond with free choice of damage type and 50+ Km range and it can fit a rack of Neutralizers as well in the highs, giving it 2 main weapon systems).
The Curse can kill anything solo (below properly fitted capital ships) since its bonus allows it to disable all forms of tackling/ECM and many types of weapons.
At least the Ishtar should not be useable as a nanoship ...

You should also note that the Ishtar has a severe disadvantage to the Vagabond. Should the Ishtar have to leave quickly, it also leaves all of its DPS behind... I'd call that a pretty significant drawback to using a drone boat.

To be honest I see no problem with the nano-ishtar that you don't see in other nano-ships. Sure it can pump out more dps, but unless the ishtar slows down you do know that he's not going to be able to call back drones right? And drones die quickly if you know what you're doing.
As far as the curse goes, just STFU. The amarr actually have a good pvp ship (not that it can do anything against a passive tank but w/e) and someone complains that it needs a nerf... you're not actually that dense are you?

guys I just noticed if I set it to "All Level 5" the following ships have omg amazing dps and are fast when nanoed and can tank -
- All of them
---------------
The Nanoishtar may be a pain in the bum but it isn't "OMGWTFNERF". The Curse has had its nerf - it can't lock everything down now. Though it is a powerful ship when used correctly, and works well preying on belt ratters/miners, its not overpowered.

Ogre II with HP bonus are hard to kill, yes. 5 of them have about 20K HP, that's more than the Ishtar itself.

Recalling drones from 50km in a solo wtf ship???? You mean to say you got a 50km scrambler nice
Never tried the nano ishtar, I dont like flying nano ships my self but yeh if a drone gets shot or you have to bug out then you leave your dps. Same with the curse and its drones your dps is exposed and can be taken down unlike the vaga.
I dont see the point to the thread though as there is no question apart from no they wernt meant to be flown as nano ships, no point really just a statement from your veiwpoint so I will leave it at that.
Theres a few corps and alliances that mainly fly nano hacs,bs's infact anything with low slots they fill with nanos and overdrives and we all know who they are. Its a Low risk tactic which many use in pvp and many hate.
Train for a vaga or rapier and then come back and complain when you see they have no tank when caught and melt in seconds.

No they are not... I dealt with a nanoishtar easily with a raven and i had torps on for craps sake. I was popping this guys drones left and right. Did i mention i was only ratting fit and had just 2 kinetic hardners and a Large sheild booster on? Oh yes, this was also before the drone shield recharge nerf too.
If you get killed by a single nanotar really i laugh at you.

Well, if you can fly faster then your drones, you might end up far away from them. When you get into trouble and want to bug out, it might not be a good idea to wait for the drones to catch up

Huh have you ever tried to make a 6k sustainable nanocurse or ishtar? Bear in mind the curse will not nos what EFT says it will as an opponent's cap will fluctuate and they may cap out. Those ships need a good bit of tweaking to break 3k, most are in the 3-4k range.
Quote:

Wait, what? The ishtar is horrendous to fit, ogres take an age to travel to target, you can't scram at 50k in an ishtar, and medium neuts don't work well on nanoships as they have a ~12km range and they cap you out meaning your mwd stops.
Quote:
The Curse can kill anything solo (below properly fitted capital ships) since its bonus allows it to disable all forms of tackling/ECM and many types of weapons.
Cap injection is your friend, so are... friends, and not being cought alone by a ship that does well to do 200dps. The curse is extremely powerful used right but it is far more difficult to make a solo curse these days after the nos nerf. Most setups are either paper thin or rely on cap injection or both.

How is an Ishtar going to kill anything that is 50km out?
The best warp disruptor that can fit to the Ishtar is the Domination / Republic Fleet Warp Disruptor. They're 30km range. Add in the 20% from thermodynamics, and thats only 36km range.

Drone dps can be lame as they either get shot down or you end up having to leave them behind
ishtar and curse are both too slow to avoid taking damage so they arent exactly survivable.
Neuts on a nano ishtar is vaguely dumb. You take 1 or 2 to deal with intys and other tacklers but apart from that you keep out of web range.
Your arguement seems to be that the vaga is a worse nano ship than both of these. Can i please have some of what you are smoking...

problem is, people don't want to have to fit specifically to counter certain ships.
what they're missing is that we've always had to counter for certain tactics to a greater or lesser extent. no one ship or setup can do it all. [IMAGE REMOVED] |

Ain't getting those numbers even on EFT with the all lvl V character. Would never get those numbers in game, except perhaps for a very short while, due to capping out and mwd breaking down.

Same goes for the Curse really.
Both are heavily drone dependent and poorly managed drones are extremely vulnerable.
Leave them alone (for the record, I fly neither of them) and let those of us who are prepared ruin their days.

Originally by: Evil Thug All peoples who is writing that ishtar is balanced - are stupid. Ishtar is clearly best nanoship atm. Much better than vaga, with more defence, almost unkillable in small gangs.
clearly a ship that takes 5 level 5 skills and costs as much as a battleship and has a third of its tank must be overpowered if it does any damage at all
Cost more than a BS alot of the time. My ishtars are only named and t2 fit, and each loss is something like 230-250m isk. And I have lost more than I like, so obviously: I'm not a super pilot AND they are not all that hard to counter.
Weird, if Ishtars and Curses are that crappy why is it that your alliance members keep apearing in our region flying them?
This.
If these ships weren't a problem then why is there a new thread about them almost every other day. Nerf Polycarbons.

I have maxed navigation skills. I can name another dozen people off the top of my head who have maxed navigation skills. I have heat available. Most other people who're serious about pvp use heat. When talking about navigational skills especially, All Level 5 should be standard.

I have Nav V, all MWD-affecting skills at IV (16 or 20 days to max them is absurd) and I have Thermodynamics IV.
It was boring as hell, and the training times defined to be arbitrarily and artificially long, but I got them.
Yes it's it's an absurd training time, but some people have done it. -- Support fixing the EVE UI | Suggest Jita fixes |

Ishtars are a bit much lately. Very popular despite high cost, and operating in a role not laid out in their description.
I think you guys who say it's easy to take down the drones have been fighting the second string. Try going up against Creamster or someone like that and see how well you handle that situation.
Any HAC that runs circles around Vagabonds and interceptors needs some re-thinking.
Actually, it's the gestalt of all the mods that needs revisiting, not the ships. The ships are fine, until they are turned into freaks by excessive modding.

Well either the pilot of the ferrarishtar,
a) invested some really hard isk on faction fits and implants to surpass the vaga pilot.
b) the vaga pilot has real poor skills or fit.
c) the vaga pilot got caugh in web or the ferrarishtar pilot got a lucky break and used heat on the web etc and so forth.
d) Ishtars are nice because they have a bit more survivability and they are flown in packs of ishtars and minmatar recons ( wich seem to spread like mushrooms ).
Not everyone is telling the whole picture, i got killed a while back by a guy from Tri in a Curse ( caught me distracted fair and square, good kill Wei) he sucked my cap dry and well 4 rats+curse+drones=no miracles, yet i didn't cry OMG NERF! NERF! NERF! , ishtars are more widely used now in pairs with huggins and sort, wich is a good call imo, hugin maintains target stoped, helps both the ishtar pilot and adds firepower, its no rocket science.
What should be done? Frankly i dunno, maybe people should watch local more or skill up, use their imagination or something. Each HAC has its counters and flaws, the ishtar is no exception, the problem is that ALOT of people are flying them atm in GANGS not just solo, because a SOLO ishtar does not perform miracles.
The problem this time is not in the ship itself, in fact the ship is absolutely fine. _____________________________________

doesn't even need cheap boosters etc.
Watch your midslot rack melt in under a minute. Also, 50km range? If your opponent has half a brain he'll either just warp or start popping drones. -------------------- ICE Blueprint Sales FIRST!! -Yipsilanti Pfft. Never such a thing as a "last chance". ;) -Rauth |

Ogre II with HP bonus are hard to kill, yes. 5 of them have about 20K HP, that's more than the Ishtar itself.
You're a fool..
This troll thread is terrible.
Is this what the report button is for? CCP Mitnal wouldnt allow crap like this in coad so why is it ok in general discussion?

There's a new thread every week because most people cant stand losing. Expecially when they convince themselves it wasnt there fault. I dont actually mind if polycarb's get a nerf, but this current round of whines being directed at them have much more to do with everything else that was ahead of them in line already being nefed than anything else, and deep down you know it.
Also nerf the guy who said nerf the curse.

You know what happens when you pop an Ishtar's drone? They launch another one from that massive drone bay. They are not over powered though. For what they cost they should be a very nice solo gank ship. Get a web on one and its dead meat.

Yeah, but at what point does it stop being worth 'launch another drone'? Hammerhead IIs and Ogre IIs aren't cheap, and getting more of them is sure as hell not easy in some areas. -------------------- ICE Blueprint Sales FIRST!! -Yipsilanti Pfft. Never such a thing as a "last chance". ;) -Rauth |
