Charecter is amusing - till episode 2 when you find out she is technicaly god; ie created the universe and is subconsciously manipulating it because she dosen't know she is god..... The other charecters are damage control and symptoms of her godly powers (ESper, timetraveler, alien). Haruhiism is people finding the books explenation a lot better than current media - pastafarianism is an example of people doing it for ****s n giggles. Their incredible skill at moe-ifying and otaku-izing everything they create gives me very little hope for Season 2. /goes back to hoping for the 10th novel. Clannads finished in a few weeks and HAruhi 2 is allready in the works, FMP4 will come out later, we have been waiting for around 4 years now another season won't do much harm. Not talking about the animation style per se--the actual art is fine--its just that animation companies are responsible for quite a bit more than that. They have a whole group of "moetaku scientists" as they've been jokingly called, whose sole purpose is to analyze every scene and modify it for maximum "moe potential" and to pander as much to the otaku demographic. This was particularly visible in Lucky Star, and its only gotten worse since. Some of it was pretty ingenius on their part; adding the dancing ending (Hare Hare Yukai) to Haruhi was a gigantic marketing success, despite the fact that it has absolutely no root in the original novels.
