I was in Narnja today in a Bustard and saw a gang of Domis suicide ganking a freighter.
After watching I wondered how the Freighter blew up even though Concord made short money of the Domis. After asking questions it seems heavy drones keep attacking even the ship controlling them. I felt pretty bad for the poor lad - is this a bug? I mean, logically speaking, how can the ship transmitting a signal for drones to attack still work after the ship has been destroyed?
I think it's quite unfair (yes, unfair) for cheap t1 BS with cheap t1 heavy drones to pick up a billion isk ship with billions in cargo probably, and the gankers get all their money back from the insurance.
Had it been a 24 BS gang that somehow alpha striked the freighter it would be okay, but letting drones attack after ship has exploded is pretty lame.
I think the worse thing is they wore smacktalking in local. Two years ago such an immature sighting was rare(r), now it's an every day occurence. I guess the game's ranking popularity came with a price.

how many domis? i got a weebit confused on that part
and i thought concord was supposed "disconnect" drones when they arrived now.
also thats a .5 system so it takes a bit of time for concord to come, so enough domis should be able to get off a few shots,

There is no such things as scrambling from drones.
And drones do not keep attacking after the host is dead. If they did, yes it was a bug, but excuse my sceptisism when I claim they did not.
The damage output from a decent number of domis is however very good, and normally enough to bring down a freighter. Especially in lower sec status systems.
Where you there the entire fight and could judge how long the fight progressed?

I did watch the entire thing, the fight lasted about 2 minutes (even though it seemed longer)
I could be wrong, but eyes raising is not necessary. It's condescending.

No problem. I would have said that the game's popularity has come with a price: people who don't pay attention enough to know whether or not ECM drones warp disrupt... and then go on to say how it is unfair.
The amount of whining is astronomical. Maybe you caught me on the wrong day?

Hmpf. I resent the singular form of "the resident condescending ***** of S&M", he's not the only one.
Besides, he does his job well. They both have their touch of errata and arrogance. One with less general knowledge than the other. ;)

Just because someone wrote a mining guide doesn't give their completely incorrect assertion that ECM drones warp disrupt any more weight.

Drones DO fire 1, maybe 2 more shots after controlling ships dies.
More than likely 2 in this case as concord spawn + mass drones + ship destruction etc etc = lag. ---

It is highly unlikely that suicide domis would use EW drones when suiciding a freighter. There is no warp scram drones in game also. And umm well ... suicide should happen in max ~20 seconds altho I imagine that it might take minute perhaps for CONCORD to kill the stage entirely clear. They use heavy ECM tho. I think they were also supposed to pop the drones nowdays altho not so sure abouyt that last one.
Plus, as pointed out previously when controlling ship goes poof drones should stop attacking. I would also think that when suiciding sentry drones might be slightly more effective as they will not lose precious time slowboating to victim to attack it.

drones DO NOT keep attacking after the controller is dead. they stop shooting instantly after the controller is killed. who ever told you that is a ****** or a carebear whit no clue.

you saw wrong.. that is not possible.
also EW drones dont scramble.... the freighter pilot was probably afk.. or if he wasnt, then he was shocked " omg omg omg what will i do.... mommy!!!!!!!!" and forgot to start warp again.
the reason domis are used is because good old CONCORD will perma jam you when they come after you.... drones keep attacking still when the controller is jammed ---------------------------------- This is Me, fighting stupidity one post at a time. There - we have a winner.
That's why drones are being used. Concord is jamming first before blowing up. The drones keep fighting until the ship is dead.

Wrong CCP now make it so when Concord spawn your drone bandwith goes to 0. As said earlier it was probably just lag causing it to seem like drones kept firing, things get very screwy with lag when Concord spawn in large numbers. Also I doubt it took 2 mins more like 20-30 seconds tops.

1. Concord spawns for each aggressor.
2. After concord spawns, you die within 2 seconds. In the first second you get neuted to 0 cap, is jammed, and have 0 drone control bandwidth, and then concord vaporizes deals about 100k DPS to you, vaporizing your ship in one second.
3. Drones do not attack after the controlling ship dies, the OP probably made the whole story up just to whine.

I thought the EW scrambling idea by halada was a sarkastic dig at the freighter pilot not warping away despite the scrambling domis being destroyed - since he was in fact AFK and as such should basically not complain about what happened (which he actually isn't).
Anyway I think suicide ganking is fine except for the fact there's nothing suicidal about it since concord pay you money for blowing up your ship. There's basically no risk for their rew... oh sorry has this been mentioned before? *hides*

Yeah suicide gankers have existed since before the game got out. Heck it used to be really easy and cheap when you could fly cruise and torp frigates.
However I was also under the impression that once you've lost drone control, your drones go 'limp', exactly like after you dropped them or you got blown up. Or like how concord does to you when you've been naughty..
A freighter has like 8,000 shields, 40,000 armour and 155,000 hull, lets say 200,000 hp (raw when using thermal damage). Ogre I does 48 thermal dmg, with a 4 sec rof. Add drone int 4, heavy drone 4, gallie bs 4 and you get 12 * 1.8 * 1.2 * 1.4 = 36~40 dps, * 5 = 200 dps for a tech I domi. So it would take 1000 domis to insta pop it (insta pop the node more likely).
In 0.5 space you have like 35-45 secs before concord shows I think, lets say 40 sec, so you'd need 25 dominixes. Those Domini would cost about 20M isk a piece (insurance, minimal fit) so 500M isk to suicide a freighter. Of course these prices go down when you get cheaper domi's etc.
My point? Don't carry too much expensive stuff in your freighter ;) and don't frelling afk transport with them .. seriously .. Just get a dual web corp alt and insta warp, jump, rinse and repeat. Noobs.
The reason this guy prolly didn't warp was allignment.. freightes align slow. But fast enough to dock after being shot for carrying illegal stuff (which you can't really eject from your freighter) (yeah you know I'm talking about you buddy, lol)
All the stuff above does not necessarily reflect my corp, my alliance or even me.. Drone guide.. |

There's more to a domi than just drone damage. And you're forgetting the damage modifier, and a bunch of other things tbh. My guesstimate... 12-13 skilless domis to drop a freighter.

Actually most of us don't use domi's, and 11 can do it at a push depending on sec status. Last one we took down was in 0.7 and took 13 of us.

Yeah I suppose loading your domis with blasters will get higher dps for sure.. and I suppose you can all hug the gate the freighter is coming through so you only need a few seonds to mwd towards the decloaking or afk warping freighter..
I thought I did take the dmg modifier into account .. and the noobaxe is for the freighter pilots. It's quite hard to suicide gank a freighter with a decent hyena/rapier/huginn support corp alt, tbh any webbing sensor boosting corp alt will be quite useful. Also i didn't want to feed the soon to be suiciders too much info ;)

Tbh, little difference betwen the bs's. Mega does it great aswell even , all comes down to the individual skill of the pilots.

Freighters don't need to align to warp, they just need to get up to speed, hence why you use a dual webbing corp mate.
edit: I'll correct myself here. Freighters only need to align to warp upon undocking. When warping from gate to gate they can warp sideways and backwards (I've done it..)
