Originally by: Inertial To be quite honest. If you can't handle a wardec, you don't deserve to have a player corp.
So far, it seems that your reaction have been: "OMG, this is ruining my fun!", but it should have been "hmm, how can I have some fun with this?".
These players who are wardeccing you, are probably more expirienced when it comes to PVP, and probably have more skillpoints towards it. What you guys shouldn't do is fly battleships and battlecruisers against them, this is probably what they are expecting. Instead you fit T1 Cruisers, with cheap stuff, fully insure it and fly in gangs against them. If they are flying Nano ships, you counter it with anti nano ships. Neuts, Webs, fast ships, ECM, Damps, etc, there are plenty of counters. Put in a few logistics and practice a spidertank and you can probably take their Hac gang slowly. Watch the tourny videos for a few ideas on spidertanking.
This is what you should be doing, proving that you deserve to have a corp.

This sort of thing is lame as hell, unfortunately it happens all the time as ganker types like to dec random nooblet corps to try and get easy no-risk killmails. Half the time they're alts anyway, with their mains happily mining away in some system far away to fund their pseudopiracy.
But while this is perfectly legal, making a new corp or switching to NPC corps are also legal, and perfectly valid ways to avoid pew pew. The official ruling seems to be that because corp war was intended to be a primarily economic tool, it only extends to the corp and not the members so the members can do whatever they want. Essentially, anything goes. I guess CCP realized theres too many alts, lamers, smackers, gankers, hoppers and general d-bags polluting empire warfare that it cant be regulated. _________________ [IMAGE REMOVED] -- aka Cpt Bogus -- Is that my torped sig cloaking your base?

So you trained for scissors because you thought that you wouldn't need paper despite that warning in the tutorial about undocking?
It seems like your ignorance is your issue

Ok, I'm the CEO of a "mission-runner" corp myself, and we have been wardecced only two times so far in more than a year, so I'm not 100% sure my advice will help that much. Suffice to say, we never paid any ransom, but we did suffer losses. On the up-side, members learned a thing or two about PvP. The hard way, sadly.
You have just three options:
1. Diplomacy 2. Lethargy 3. Violence
1. Diplomacy You have to negotiate terms so they will leave you alone. That usually would involve a ransom, and many corp will actually ASK for a ransom when they wardec you. Or inflict some damage, THEN ask for ransom. Unless this is a personal grudge (which I doubt), it's for the ISK. Give them what they want, and they'll go away.
2. Lethargy Issue a general "do not undock" order. Logoff whenever THEY login. Disband corp. Play with alts. Stuff like that. Generally, give them nothing to do. They'll certaily get bored, but then again, so will you. Whoever cares less wins. Not a pretty sight though.
3. Violence Fighting back and inflicting more damage than they do is a good way to convince them to drop the wardec. Like several people said, this can be as easy as "do not fly anything you can't afford to lose". Worst case scenario, you might need a hauler alt to bring you supplies from a hub, in case you're having trouble getting there without getting killed. This means, no expensive ships (BSs almost completely out of the question, even BCs, and don't even think of T2 ships), preferably no rigs either, and low-end named mods. The less cash they get when they kill you, and the less cash you lose when killed, the better for you. Eventually, they'll get bored of the "no cash" thing... or YOU will start enjoying it enough to wardec others.

This is a part of the game and not 'greifing'.. As a corp you have to be able to deal with these situations, you can't ignore this aspect even if it might work for a couple of months :P I'd say it's pretty ignorant to ignore the threat of being Wardecced and just specializing on Missionrunning and mining.. Doesn't matter if you call it "unfair" and "we just want to make iskies without any conflict".. This is how the game works, you have to deal with it..

1. Do NOT join a big, strong alliance. In fact, if you're based in hi-sec, NEVER join an alliance. If you do, you will be at war with someone at all times.
2. Not being in a corp but maintaining private chat is an idea, unless you like to have the formal ties.
3. If you wanna stay in corp, do not pay the mercenary corp EVER. If you do, they and others will never leave you alone. Have someone make an alt to keep the corp name and ticker active, and then just jump corp. Sure, it takes 24 houts do do so, and it costs a little bit (not much), but after awhile, the aggressors won't bother with you anymore. There's no point if they get no money. I know what I'm talking about, I've run tiny hi-sec corps for 3 years.

Sure, so everytime you lose in a game it's considered greifing.. You can call it Natural Selection, only the strong corps that can protect themselves survive..

Greetings
As an alt of a main whose corp was war decced by a vastly superior corp i share your pain, but i assure all is not lost. Before panicking, think about your situation. They are griefing you, can you grief them?
Here are some suggestions:
Camp the entry points to a *system* adjacent to your home system and blob them in t1 cruisers or bcs. This will involve everyone logging on just after dt. If they are flying HACS then chances are even if you lose a few ships they will lose more than you, isk wise
Get allies:
Chances are if they are known griefers/cowards etc they are unpopular corp and have many enemies. contact them. We had 4 corps willing to help us when we were wardecced, simply because they were known griefers and were seen as pathetic. I am sure there are corps out there willing to help you, for minimal cost
shame then:
Any kills you do get, post on crime and punishment, explain how you are a corp full of noobs and that you dont have two civilian blasters to rub together. Post kill mails, i assure you with the blob tatic you will get at least one or two.
Hope this helps, good luck

I know.. but we are human.. no normal human sells ships he owns worth half a bil to pay a ransom instead of using the ships..
At least you seem to have isk then :p
How about: Use t1 frigates and t1 cruisers and train for t2 ships. Admittedly vagabonds are pretty hard to catch but if numbers go up in single battle it's very likely you catch one once in a while even with kestrels/condors. (With principle: catch whatever you can :p) Some t1 cruisers are very effective, like stabber, thorax, osprey or blackbird etc. Maybe get someone to tell you how to assemble a proper gang or something if you don't have experience.
Never pay ransom tbh, in your case it's probably insane. :p They can keep wardec up only for 1 week at the time. They will get bored, eventually.

Edited by: Cassandra Wolf on 08/03/2008 10:31:03 Thanks for all the advice.. i have read so many threads in the boards and most of them went into complete bs just after a few posts :/ this one is great :)
But i still dont see how we can kill highly specialized and trained pvpers with t2 equip with some 10 mio-thoraxes.. maybe hurt.. but catch, defeat/kill...? hmm :/

Never underestimate the power of numbers... you might not "win" in the sense you get to kill them, but you can "survive". Starvation is just as bad of a death as getting shot They fight you to get cash, either from your wrecks or from the ransome. You don't have to actually beat them, just fend them off. Deny them any income. Wreck of a corp mate ? Collect loot/salvage yourself, or SHOOT it... as long as they don't get it, perfect.
In even numbers, or even if you have a 2:1 numerical superiority, you might not be able to kill them... yet. But you can deny them any gains, and you will get better at it. And one time, one of them will make a big mistake, like underestimate the gang you're fielding, or get impatient. Then he's dead.

The problem as i stated before is more that they are 2-3:1 in numbers and technique :(

It is griefing, yes.
But CCP allow it and so you can't do much except leave the corp and creat a new one.
This highsec pirates are to week or dump for lowsec/0.0 and don't realy like fair fights at all. They just like to destroy the fun of other, that's all they want.

That is where the blobbing tatic comes in. Get all your corp mates to one gate and camp until they find you. Yes you will probably die but you WILL take down 2-3 of them, t2 or no t2. Remember eve is just a number crunching spreadsheet and no amount of technique can beat a blob hammering out raw dps on one target. (also remember to field frigs as tacklers)

Drop to your npc corps. Leave a noob alt in your existing corp as ceo- as a placeholder. He keeps the corp open and gives you access to assets. Play on as usual. Bad guys will soon get bored and move on to next target. Then you rejoin the corp

Even with 20 or 40 T1 frigs you have no changs to kill one BS from a skilled PvP pilot. He will simply lough about you.
And be sure - they will NEVER come with a ship they might lose. You bring frigs? they bring cruiser! You bring Cruiser? they bring BC! ... You bring BS? they bring 10 + HACs + Command + Suport!
a) just don't undock for a long time till they get bored about it. b) creat a new corp and hope they don't dec your new one (it will happen most of the time) c) stay at an NPC corp (wich is bad for helping your friends)
so b) is the best solution.
If you don't like PvP avoid it as best as you can equal what people try to tell you here or ingame.

Any time a corp i am in gets a war dec i drop to noob corp immediately. I fly Empire for fun and not to be ganked by jerks. It is my firm opinion that the whole war dec mechanic is flawed and needs to be removed. Others who believe like me maintain a seperate chat channel and keep +10 to each other so we don't have to be in a corp just to have fun together. War dec is why we stay in noob corp really, forming a corp without the numbers and experience is just foolish and asking for trouble.

By forming a corp, you're announcing to the world 'look, we can do stuff'.
Whether you like it or not, EVE _is_ a PvP game. Without having PvP capabilty in your corp, then yes, you're presenting yourself a target.
No, it's not griefing. it's natural selection.

Look he can take or leave the advice, i am only relaying what we did.
In a warrdec fear is one of the primary weapons of the warrdeccer. They probably think they know how you are going to react. The last thing they are expecting is a fight, this is why fighting is the better option.
Heck i bet they will even have fun doing it
Another tip: when you gank them at gate, have alt hauler standing by to pick up any loot that might drop

At least you're heading towards the right kind of thinking, if you don't have the isk or skills, it's always an option to join forces with someone that has the same goal/targets.
Think of solutions, there are plenty.
Stop victimizing yourself, it won't help and it makes you seem weak.

But they are for sure expirienced enough to know what to do IF the PvM-members try to fight.
And if they realy can pin one to a station he simply goes to sleep (or plays his alt) and let them sit there . They know either how to break the blockad or avoid it.
No, for new players it's simply a wast of time and ISK to try any PvP-actions against this Griefers!
Best is to avoid them as best as you can (creat new corp).

There are different types of decs. One where bose side make a contract-like wardec. One where the other side can't do anythink against it (the griefer type of wardec).
