did that really warrent in in-game server wide pop up?

You know I was at a gatecamp waiting for a freighter to decloak full of Officer mods and I missed my lock, and scramble on the freighter because of that non modal pop up window, advertising another one of CCP's products. So because CCP interrupted my game play I want a freighter full of officer mods delivered to my hangar.
Well that could have happened. I could have also been undocking from a hostile station trying to look around in a tanked BS, and that non modal popup window could have stopped me from redocking before my battleship got blown up.
CCP if your going to advertise in game for other CCP products at least use the same window that you use for the count down to Down Time timer. That at least does not steal focus. Either that or include naked women in the ads or something more interesting than the last day of the tournament.

And its the same with the stupid window that pops up like 4 times before DT.
There should be a option to not have these popups.
I know when DT is, and dont want a non-modal window poping up!

I seem to remember that CCP did this previously and promised not to do it again. Think it was at the last tournament.
OP has a point. Its hardly important enough to warrant that level of intrusion.

I'll have to agree with the OP. MMO's are all about immersion, and having an add for some tournament pop up while you are logged in can be quite a turn-off for some people.

i agree.. when in pvp you can loose a ship because of it... as you cant ******* click anything else what ****es me off.

Is the tournament ingame? or on some seperate server? Cuz if it is ingame, someone would prolly crash tha party, cuz thats the eve way!
Personally i don't really care a lot about it because it is just the same old groups (with a few exceptions)

I think it was a great move, I think for next time all billboards should broadcast it, all in stations scrolling text should speak of it and agents should go on and on about it when dealing with them.
It's the event that grips most people, surely it must be marketed ingame as well. Some RP event with the same interest behind it would be nice but I guess they blew it with the gallente election system.

Yeah, i was coming through a gate camp when that pop up came up informing me of the tournament. I clicked ok and it went away, then i moved on with my day. 
The fact that you felt the need to create a whine thread about it says alot about you imo

Wow you guys complain way too much about the most stupid of things. They made you click your mouse once and all of a sudden, it deserves a forum thread? FYI: it was the final day of the tournament, really the only day worth watching. The Triumvirate vs. KIA match was epic. So was the grand finale.
I'm actually thankful CCP notified me otherwise I would've missed it. So yeah, just stop complaining.

You know you have a keyboard, right? And the keys don't move so you don't even have to think about where they are, right?
And once that window has stolen focus you can just press Enter and it goes away?
You don't even have to think about targetting it with your mouse click.
