The title isn't meant quite literally. Just that firstly logistics havent seen any love, and it doesnt seem like the triage module will be implemented for them anytime in the near future. I am hoever hoping for smaller improvements to be made to the system as a whole.
Firstly the killmail system. It's nice to see it improved, but one of the main reasons pvp-ers don't actually fly logistics ships is because of the low visibility they recieve. I think this could be amended by having the logistics ship on the killmail if it was assisitng the offensive gang.
Secondly some kind of module that would make logistics more versatile in that they could create buffers for friendly ships instead of just repairing them. TF2 style if you will, shield repairing when shield are full might provide a 15% boost to total shields that would degenerate over the course of 10 cycles. Or something to that effect.
TL;DR ? implement tf2 style changes to logistics ships wrt killmails and support mods

Don't get me wrong i love using them, i just feel like theyre underappreciated in the grander scheme of things, alliance tournaments notwithstanding.
But when they augment ships with effects like tracking links or remote sensor boosts, shouldnt they somehow have factored into the killmail?

No, logistic ships should not appear on kill mails just because they boosted an attacker. If people only wants to be on kill mails, let them fit guns on the logistic ships. Then they will appear there. Otherwise, those gang's with to much 'killmail hunger' will have to live without logistic support. It is, after all, their choice.

What an bad response.
Why shouldn't the logistics pilots receive credit for their assistance in generating kills?
The killmail system has been tweaked a number of times in the last few patches to try and get it to better reflect waht's actually happening. Now even those who just shoot the drones are recognized on the mails as having contributed.
Certainly logistic ship ought to be too.

Its one of the tradeoffs as a logistics pilot..one solution is to field light attack drones in order to get on mails as rep drones are usually too slow in gangs.

Logistics are great as is. There's only one 'boost' I think they need, and it's more a change in the way they operate.
Y'see, they have a -15%/level cap use reduction. Which means the difference between level 4 (-60%) and level 5 (-75%) is actually the difference between using 25% cap, and 40% cap for that level of difference. It's the difference between sustaining 3 large reps, and 6.
Which IMO is too much. I'd much rather see a 5 or 10% cap reduction, and just having the 'rest' as a role bonus. -- Crane needs more grid 249km locking? |

Logistics V is a fairly long skill to train, and is more or less deadend (unless you need triage for a carrier). At the same time it is a committment to flying logistics class ships, while having no quantifiable benefit from a killbaord statistical perspective. At the same time the difference between runnign 3 and 6 reps sustainably could mean life or death to a small gang.

Shooting drones a combat action. It's a killmail. If you want a repmail, I'll be happy to support your charge, but logistics ships on killmails for repping is a little too far removed in my opinion. The killmail is there to track the kills, not the saves. Besides, the more you put on a killmail, the more information the enemy has at his disposal afterwards.

Quite frankly it doesnt matter.
"Wee I got a kill.." what ya gonna do with it?
Your enemy died, you got whats left of him... thats the reward, some epeen in form of a mail is hardly needed.

By your argument then why do logistics ships recieve aggro by assisting friendlies? Also some logistics ships have remote effects like tracking links, which arent that far removed from target painters.

Logistics ships can be attacked for assisting because there needs to be a means of preventing that assistance.
Stop and think what would happen without that mechanic: empire war + logistics alts in NPC corps. Without flagging for logistics, it would be impractical to kill the logistics alts to allow for an attack on the war targets.
As for kill mails, if you want that feature, I would start by talking to those maintaining your kill board. Have them add an option to list logistics support credits.
Otherwise if you want kill-mails then kill stuff. They are not call heal-mails

Logistics ships do have a perfectly good and viable killmail system.
They help prevent friendly lossmails.

Cpu around 20 and 10PG and the ship would be alot easyer to fit well and not make it better than the caldari version. Death is great rember where all dying to get there. |

I am not sure if boosting the current logistics cruisers is a good idea, they are damned fine as is.
What would be nice to see is a T2 Logistics Frigate. I know it sounds bad but honestly it would be nice to see a frigate repping other frigates, with a couple of light repair drones helping out aswell.

My thoughts exactly.
Perhaps they could even get a bonus that increases their cargo hold for ammunition and cap charges. With lvl5 giving around 4Km/3 worth of cargo for the ammo and cap charges. Make them true logistics frigates, designed to keep the fleet supplied as well as patch them up when they take damage.

Flying logistics is a ungrateful job, but somebody got to do it. When you've saved the gang a time or two everything gets better and they actually miss you, sweeties...
I recently finished logistics5 for the pure reason of logistic ships, killmails, pff I rather like to prevent lossmails =)

By your logic, a Command ship sitting 249km from the fight running gang assist modules, should be on every single mail. He did afterall contribute to his friends fighting potential.
There is absolutely no need for that. Only those that activly participate in a kill should be listed in the mail. Killing drones is a bit vague excuse for being in a mail, but I can accept that. You are killing after all.
