I've been told trading is a good way to make lots of ISK, you can also look into smart investing, T2 production or selling datacores (though that's a relatively slow way to supplement your income. Is that really the average time frame to get to lvl 4's? damn.. i remember back when it took me 6 months to get to lvl 4's.. and i am still bordeline scared to do them... i guess Caldari is the win?
i didnt break my first 100m for almost a year (mind you lots of ships went pop, so that was prolly why).
i make several billions a month (and spend every penny at the local Bordello's) by market manipulation, pvp loot & ratting when no action is around (which hasnt happened lately). that;s where all my income comes from.

watch the market.
You can turn that 300 mill into 400 mill in a single night by looking for good deals.
Remember but low sell high.
I got lucky Found a Gist X-Type X-Large shield booster for 137,000,000 million
some one forgot a 0. hehehe.

I've been playing for almost 4 years and I only have 370m. It's really in how you play and what you do. Me I make bad investments. I tend to build things that are supposed to be high ticket but really aren't big sellers. IE: Drone Rigs. I mostly only build for stuff i use. OH and Yeah... level 4s. I'm only doing level 3's. Yeah you're making plenty of money. The people with billions keep their methods secret (well, not really, but they don't spam them everywhere).
Some people trade, some people do industry, some people buy GTCs and sell the for ISK, some people rob corps, some people mission run for eternity, some people set up large POS chains in 0.0 and and create Tech II ships or sell their POS goods for insane prices for other people to make Tech II ships.. The list really does go on.

It is probably a combination of both. I would guess you are more active than the average player. And of course your style of play comes into play. If you pvp you will generally spend more time losing isk than you do making it.
When I started, my first 2 months I never even imagined I would get to where you are. It wasn't until I went to 0.0 to mine and rat that I saw my first 100 mil. and that even took awhile.

There are some ship skills that cost more than that

my max wallet so far was around 500 mill. and that was mainly from cashing in datacores.
~~~~ ~~~~ ~~~~ Take away the risk and it would make flying around in space utterly pointless.
Take away the flying around part and you make EVE into a space themed spreadsheet application. |
I've never had more than 800m. I could easily make more than that doing missions, but every time I try I get really bored
I don't have it quite that bad, but I remember how hard it was to make my first 100 million, now it seems like you can achieve that sort of amount before your trial runs out....
Hehe, if it was so easy to make isk as some people like to make you believe, then everyone would be buying GTCs with isk to pay for their subscriptions, and CCP wouldn't make any money... no wait...
well one reason i ask is to move into paying isk for play time and i know people make billions each week w/ not a lot of play time/little effort... and i think am a little more active than the norm player... i guess 2-3 hours a day running lvl missions brings in 20 mill or so... also i dont think you can ever have too much isk...
I guess it's not hard to make money once you know the ins and outs of this game, what things people want and what they're willing to part with underneath market value, how to rat and how to farm missions etc.
So with time, you will see your revenues bounce up. Tbh, farming lvl4 salvaging and looting everything should double what you have in your wallet every week. Trading might easily make you ten times as much - but it really requires knowledge and experience.
I have modest needs for isk, so I don't really bother much, but I make about 200-300 mil afk every week for my main and when I play actively I can make much more - but ratting / missions etc are boring so I rarely bother anymore and am just happy with the afk money coming in.
But my suggestion anyhow is, keep your eyes open for good deals. Continue to excel in lvl4's, salvage and loot whatever you can and sell everything for the best price on sell orders. In time you will start to see discrepancies in the market that you can exploit as well - this is where the fun begins.
Only have 130mil and that is slowly but steadily falling due to the fact that I loose a lot of ships but can't find a reliable way to earn in lowsec (ratting is a bit crap really.)
Oh well, T1 cruisers are cheap anyway.
Same here, but then i play maybe 11-13 hours per day. Still a noob thou, would be nice to pay my subscription with ISK indeed. |
I have money...
Theres a point you reach where you have all the skills you require and dont generally have to buy a new one every day. You dont really loose ships because you have learned how to avoid losses...and all you do is make ISK, or sit back and enjoy not having to worry about it.
Being able to mine high high sec ore in a hulk or run level 4 missions should bring you to this point...
Also I ave learned that some new players exaggerate the amount f ISKs they have. I was talking a to a guy who was can baiting, he said to me 10M was pocket change...I removed his thorax from the game, then he started to smack me and tell me how I would pay for it and replace it for him. No offence but if 10M is pocket change...a thorax loss wouldnt hurt that much.
PS: It was entirely T1 as well  --------------------
You can make 1Bil a month easily doing L4s without spending -too- much time on EVE. It still isn't very enjoyable though...  ...
