What exactly you think is missing? They've clearly read the feedback we have given and fixed and altered the game based on that feedback. Then the person who wrote the notes had a sense of humor, which I think is a positive thing to do even when I'm personally not in the mood to enjoy it. |

First. There are always unforseeable bugs that only show up under very specific circumstances, and are therefore easy to miss.
Second EVE is old, and many teams are working on it at the same time, so some little thing that somebody on one team did can affect something that someone on another team did years ago, in addition, as programmers all have there own style, if somebody made something ages ago, then left, it is very hard for a new programmer to come in and suddenly know exactly how everything works, so getting it perfect first time is difficult.
Thirdly, and I can't stress this enough, Devs are people too, and people make mistakes, a simple thing such as : instead of ; or X instead of x can break everything.
Finally, Be grateful for the bad jokes in the patch notes (which I also like), like hell you could understand them if the devs wrote exactly what they were fixing, which would mean nobody would read them, which would mean everyone would whine about issues that got fixed weeks earlier.

Punkturis found edit clips of Mintchip in a future promo folder, felt betrayed and leaked a Vid of Hilmar at an Office party with 24 women from Holland and a mechanical Bull. Hilmar had last laught though because he put a fine print paragraph in his contract saying that if CCP let him go early for any reason they had to pay him the value of Greek debt in close out costs. Both Hilmar and Punkturis were last seen in mansions in New Zealand and rumor is they will be opening an EVE 2 there, after this one closes down in a project called 'Summer expansion'. The new EVE2 will feature the girls from Sucker Punch all flying Amarrian versions of the Mech seen in the movie. |

At first I was going to be diplomatic to OP, point out how he's wrong. How people like Sony (someone mentioned) with no sense of humor and who clearly aren't gamers themselves manage to ruin things. How it's refreshing to see jokes in patchnotes (and most importantly, patchnotes period which show they're fixing stuff). How great the 180 CCP has done in the last few months has been....
Then I read Veritas reply... Like I said, I like the humor, and more importantly the fixes that came with them, so I wasn't happy that he let this guy get to him. At this point I was going to just point out what a flaming vagina OP was and request his stuff be transferred to my account as he left. Probably throw in a virgin joke or something about his parents basement. Several people beat me to it though.
Then I realized the -real- way to get back at him was just to turn this into a joke thread since he hates humor so much!

I don't mind that I pay for the game and patch notes are funny.
If you love the game and the company, there is a word for it - loyalty. I dont even have to use it - loyalty - to accept these jokes; on the contrary. These jokes actually making the relationship between the player & game studio.
Well, that's my rather philosophical view on the issue and Veritas, dont even think about to stop being funny!  |

I used to think the CCP jokes were a bit cute and/or mildly entertaining as well.
But considering their last few years fuckup in this game, Soundwaves ego and bashing on players, Hilmars ego and bashing on players, CCP's utilizing CSM for whenever it suits them for propaganda purposes (and ignoring them rest of the time), CCP being stupid enough to balance the game for a minority in unbalanced super-income sov null and actually listen to blobpropaganda, CCP stating internally they don't care about players and this games origin as long as they can get more customers, CCP rushing out the latest "make-up expansion" a sellout to win voters rather than actually making sure it has some proper balance, etc..
It all adds up to CCP not being funny, and they deserve every smack they get on the forum. Even tho the OP is pulling it off quite bad, and I sound like a stuck vinyl player, there's absolutely no reason whatsoever to laugh and encourage CCP's jokes, until they give us any reason to like them again. I stopped years ago. The core of the game is still good, and there's just no better alternative on the market (I keep trying to find one), but the current CCP doesn't deserve any encouragement, only insults.
If anything, laugh at me and other angry players, but don't be a tool, think longterm consequences and.. see what CCP actually do, not what they say.

CCP Dev's are human too (yeah, who would have thought that, eh?). Nothing wrong with some humour, no matter in what context.
It's like that Grandmother who sent a text to her old friend "I heard your husband passed away - LOL"
She thought "LOL" was "Lots Of Love".
Point is, humour is humour, bad taste or good. In this case, CCP Dev used it to good effect and in good taste. It certainly brought a grin to my frustration.

I would agree with you, if this were a year ago (or whenever that was) and CCP was still touting the monocle, and etc and etc or whatever. Really though, they have turned all the way around, starting with Hilmars mail, and the talks with the CSM. Yea, talk is one thing but actio... OMG CRUCIBLE! <3 CCP! and remember crucible was started very late in a release cycle as a way to show players they were taking complains seriously. I say they did a damn good job of it.
Now, if that changes in the future, I'll be right back on CCP's case because I have high expectations of them and for Eve. In the mean time though, even since Crucible 1.0, I've seen major changes and fixes to the core gameplay that helps everyone (brackets were pretty nice in the 6oy fight!, thanks whoever is working on those). For that I think people are willing to cut them some slack if they want to be funny in patch notes, troll the forums (awesome post CCP Punkturis), or whatever keeps them happy as they code away fixes to my spreadsheets :) |

You sir, are taking this game way too seriously. If the game was so broken that it is unplayable it would be one thing, but I've definitely played games that were much worse, and they even had serious patch notes!

In the interest of making this thread longer. I appreciate that the devs or whomever writes the patch notes actually takes the time to write them instead of just scraping the bullet points from Powerpoint or somesuch. Also I appreciate a company that is actually fixing little issues often instead of at major release time.
No worries CCP, I will continue paying my sub for the forseable future. |

Please, for the love of the rest of the community let your sub expire and go play something else. If you truly have that much of a lack of humor we sure as hell don't need you.
I for one read all the patch notes top to bottom looking for the jokes and Easter eggs. Please continue CCP :)
