I've been playing EVE for over a year now, admittedly only between 2-4 hours a day, and have yet to have a card fail on me.
Now one little trick as has been mentioned is to set interval=1 to enable vsync.
If you have a card that renders at a framerate less than the monitor's refresh rate and if you enable vsync the framerate will drop to the next lowest multiple of the monitor's refresh rate.
For example, I have a 2nd PC which I run my 2nd account from that has an ATI X1650 Pro card fitted. Without vsync on it will only run at 40-45fps at my preferred settings but with vsync on it runs at 30fps with the temperature dropping from around 90C to around 65C.

WTS glasses.
Seriously, read a blooming thread before posting the same stuff as 20 others. ***The EVE servers and their patches*** |

Getting random video corruption here. Alt-Entering twice (forcing a redraw) fixes it (for a few minutes at least). Mostly happens with 2 accounts running, but occasionally only with one.
As stated several times by others this does appear to be a possible heat issue (or maybe graphics memory addressing issue), but that said this has only been occurring in the last couple of months and is definitely an EVE specific issue (I'm running classic btw). I play several other games without issues, including EQ2 which is far more graphics intensive than Eve, without problems (others include Rome:TW, Oblivion, Railroads, Civ4).

Edited by: Jororked on 19/08/2008 20:41:00 Had problems similar to those described in this thread. After trying what is suggested here i found the following options to work:
System nForce 680i SLI mobo 2 GeForce 8600 GT vid cards 4 gigs of ram lots of air cooling (5 120 mm fans, large copper CPU heat sink with 2 more 120 fans)
nVidia Control Panel Manage 3D Settings -> Global Options Triple Buffering > On Vsync > Force On
Set SLI configuration Disable SLI
In Game Settings ESC > Display & Graphics > Display Setup Check Advanced Option Present interval > interval one
Hopefully this will help others and clear up this issue. Was having lines and blocking before, nice and stable now.

Shameless bump, also i see CCP staff responding to other threads in this category and none had the decency to come here and at least either say " Hi mom!I don't care." or " So... uh... wha? "

Edited by: Rhaegor Stormborn on 28/08/2008 13:44:34 My EVGA 8800 GTS just fried because of Eve two days ago. I have a 680i EVGA motherboard and 4GB of 800MHZ RAM. Thankfully it has a lifetime warranty, but I am out of a computer for the next 2 weeks waiting on the RMA to get back to me.
Not sure if it was Eve's fault, but it fried while I was playing Eve Online.

As it's an nVidia 8/9 series card I think it's far more likely to be this: http://it.slashdot.org/article.pl?sid=08/08/29/151227
In short 10-20% of all nVidia 8/9 series cards are failing. Reports are saying that it looks a lot like heat-death, but is caused by a design issue in the chips.
Anyone else in this thread with a non-nVidia failure is probably unlucky enough to have one of the 0.1% (number made up) that normally fail on their own.
