I find it disappointing that so many players candidate with a "vote me and your niche will get a buff, or at least no nerf" attitude. While the political realities have shown throughout the centuries that this gets votes, this attitude doesn't make EvE a better game. Boosting EvE itself, as a whole, should be the only thing a CSM member should lobby about.
Having its own pet-niche is okay, and ideally the CSM would have an expert for every major (or not so major) playstyle, but that should be on top of a vast knowledge about every aspect of the game. Neither "I haven't left 0.0 in years" nor "I've never been below 1.0" are going to cut it if lowsec issues are put on the table.
Very few campaign documents I've read so far make me believe the candidate has at least a basic-good knowledge of all the aspects in EvE

I am really, really hoping that we get a good range of all round players who are capable of seperating out their own interests, those of their corps or their alliances from basic questions to do with core mechanics of the game or its emergent systems. I'm standing because I believe that I can do this and because I feel I have a high level of understanding of many aspects of the game as well as a bit of a vision as for how I'd like things to develop. ---------------------------------------

Signed.
If possible it should even be a requirement. But alas, I dont think we have the instruments to meassure/quantify it
We'll see how it goes.

Edited by: Rod Blaine on 01/04/2008 19:59:08 I'm a bit surprised to see people running that already have an 'above average'understandign of how CCP works tbh.
And the turnout is rather poor too. I mean, hardly more candidates then places. I bet CCP are feeling a bit let down here.
p.s., if you are running on something like "i'll push combat ship balancing as a priority" then please, back our while you can :p

I would of run but who is going to vote for a non=PVP solo player with 3 accounts? Wouldn't even come close to the votes Goons and BoB will pull in! Kind of stacks the deck doesn't it. PROMISES MADE PROMISES KEPT BRING THE BRIGHT STAR BACK!!!

I'd hope that everyone who even thinks about running runs as even if they are not elected, the cross pollination of ideas among candidates is vital to ensure that our representatives end up being representative! So run and get your ideas out there, even if you feel you can't win (and assuming its 1st past the post then the BOB/GOONS candidates will get in, probably one each maybe two or three IF they can co-ordinate their votes or otherwise huge stacks of votes will just pile up on already-elected candidates leaving many more electiion slots free). ---------------------------------------

Extraordinary - wow. That is a great summary of the game, design, issues and how we all might go forward.
I have trouble with Goons as a group, but Gounindong sounds like s/he has the ability to think critically, both broadly and in specifics.
Seriously, that needs to be put up on a more accessible web page format.
Thanks!

Edited by: Finideach on 02/04/2008 13:32:41 I will throw my hat into the ring as the Anarcho-Capitalist Libertarian voice of the Eve Community.
I believe the best solutions are created by a market free and unfettered from the influence of regulatory government. If you look at the most effective institutions within Eve: from financial capital, IPO review, internal policing, dealing with ISK-farmers - all have come from player innovation and market forces.
If allowed to serve on the Eve Council my votes will be simple and to the point. I support a solid infrastructure that minimizes bugs and game-mechanic-exploit - as well as giving tools to players. Beyond that however I will be a strong voice to make sure players are allowed to solve their own problems - as they are the ones best equipped to do so.
Granted I am a party of one - but that's the best way that government works after all.

I met Serenity at Fanfest, I support the candidacy. Serenity is one of the very few people who have contributed as much to Eve that I know of.
The goon in me couldn't resist the opportunity to RR my potential candidacy, the BoB in me makes me too elite to post full details. (In other words, I am way short on time for the next few weeks).
I know I would make an excellent candidate, due to my wide and varied knowledge of the intricacies of most aspects of the game. I am also quite neutral regarding high-profile issues and have the ability to cut through the BS (not the ship) of all issues that may present themselves. If that qualifies me, so be it. If not, no worries, I will crawl back into my hole.

Just thought I would throw my hat for this thread. Been away a couple days so didn't see this one pop up at first.
I am definitely running, here is a tagline you can use in the list: "I have the knowledge, and experience to represent all players of Eve. Vote for me, and give yourself a voice!"
Website: Campaign Site
Good luck to all candidates!
I will be making a general posting shortly discussing some issues that are important to me as an individual, But my main goals as a candidate (and hopefully council member) are to represent the issues that are important to YOU as players. So if you have anything you want to discuss openly leading up to the election, I ask you to either send it to me in a PM, or post it on my campaign site!
See you all at the polls!

Hi all.
I've also applied for the candidacy (if that's the right word lol), as I think it could be a good thing for the game overall.
You will probably have seen me flying round Empire lately, as I've been advertising the channel I created to help people out with missions.
Been playing since 2004, and enjoy playing what is after all a game. (oops, lost some votes there hehe)
If anyone wants to get to know me, feel free to join the helpmymission channel, as that's where I basically live now
I won't create a website to try to campaign, as I personally think it's far better to speak to someone in person, and would rather be playing Eve instead of creating a website.
If I get voted in, i'll try my best to help improve the game for everyone (if that's at all possible)
Good luck to all the other candidates btw , and dont forget, Eve is supposed to be FUN. |

More of a recommendation than a requirement. Just a list of names looks boring, but if that's how someone wants to be represented then who am I to say :)

I've offered Boris space to blog on my site where they get their own URL and latest blogs promoted to the site front page. I know that might seem odd but the way I look at it is the more the merrier. That goes for any other candidate too. I also think Serenity's offer is great as well.

Are there only carebears running for CSM??? Industrialism, solo players, missions, care bears, empire markets... yes eve have these features too, but the only candidate who promotes the harsher side of EVE is Jade Constantine!!
I hope CCP let a choice be blank, so we can vote for "Empty seats". Because I want to have the choice of not Electing people who will turn EVE into a new NGE..
More True EVE candidates! PLEASE?????

I've spent 4+ years in 0.0 alliances but all that proves is that I have a better grasp of the socio-political side of the game than your average mission runner.
On the whole this election doesn't seem to be about carebear industry v pvp badassness v empire mission running, or at least I hope it isn't. There are clearly issues, like lag, that cut across all classes of players and these tend to be the ones that need attention most severely. ---------------------------------------
