That's precisely what I'm getting at.
But the problem in this case happened to be exacerbated by other unrelated problems. Namely the long standing sore that is jita combined with a feature-bereft autopilot.
Any one of the problems by itself and you wouldn't be seeing another whine post. But through their powers combined I wasted four hours doing a single ****ty mission (since it was a storyline declining it was out of the question). And it sapped me of my will to play for the day.
So you can laugh a bit more... My Industrialist just got is 5th or 6th Storyline encounter mission in a row...
As for the Jita issue, we all know Jita is a lagfest at the best of times, my agents never send me close because it's 14 jumps away... find an agent in a different Region and you don't get sent to or through Jita... While I do agree that the Auto-Pilot should have a way to eliminate some systems, it does not and as I have been told so often, Adapt...

Yes you can. I do it all the time. I hate faction loss so i refuse to do them 
Also, they can be ignored completely for a similar effect.
