Kieron
I'm going to miss you, you made my EVE experience so happy and full of entertainment (Kieron Claus!)
I hope that you were able to instill some of your values into the other employees at CCP, for I appreciate what you did for this community: your job. :)

Ouch. So what happened to all the love-letters we sent to kieron after he left? Did someone else read those?

Originally by: CCP Wrangler Actually, when our first Community Manager left it was not announced unless I'm mistaken, we might have announced that we had a new one but don't think we had a goodbye thread. When I was hired at CCP the only announcement was that my character got the Dev badge on the forums. When I took over as Community Manager and kieron became Director of Community the only announcement made was that we put our new titles in our signatures, in fact it was several months before I "inherited" the Community badge instead of the Dev badge. When our first Community Manager returned to CCP it was not announced either.
Quite frankly we almost never announce people joining or leaving the club.
I've noticed some people post less than nice things here and in other threads and while we look to the future we also miss kieron and if you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything.
I understand the reasoning behind not tellung us about every new employee, as it doesnt really concern us. However, since kieron was, and you are, the person in charge of the community, and we are the community, it would be nice to at least know whats going on when something changes and who our contact person is.

I agree. I actually sent emails to kieron's email after he quit(which i wasnt aware of), and i actually got quite ****ed at him for not getting back to me.

No more Kieron?
Just going to echo a few thoughts from above. Sure, it's not possible (nor practical) to announce every single coming & going. But not even annoucing an introduction for a new community director/manager? You know... the person who personally interacts with the community?
Having the community eventually have to find out for itself makes the whole position seem a bit... faceless.

The forums certainly arent has fun as they used to be =\ i miss when the devs were always making quips in threads and the mods were entertaining.
I miss when the forums were worth reading.
Seems we swapped devs for ********s and the results have ground the fun out of the job of moderating.
Never mind next year it will be worse so enjoy the good times. -

Sorry to see you leave Kieron. You were always a paragon of justice and spokesman on the part of the playerbase.
Also I find it a bit odd that it should take a thread and 3 weeks of silence before the newly appointed community manager steps up and mentions his new role. This -IS- the community - after all.

Frankly, that information would be between he and CCP, and is none of anyone else's business.
Exactly, if I left CCP I would consider it a matter between me and CCP and no one else and we're extending kieron the same courtesy.
CCP had a really good man with kieron and he did a fine job. At least a goodbye statement would be in order (the reasons for leaving are of course a private matter).
And also it was not just some employee but the head of community related things. Wouldn't be it at least the minimum of CCP to open a thread and inform the community about the change, introduce the new person and allow the community to thank kieren for the good job he did in the past? And if CCP and kieron parted with disagreements it still would be only right to inform the community of the change.
Strange behaviour. Even more strange that people think this behaviour is all fine.
Best luck kieron, was a good time as long as it lasted I guess. And good luck to his successor as well!

It's perfectly normal behaviour. I know in the UK a company cannot and will not discuss the departure or in some cases even the employment status full stop, of an (ex) employee.
It is between CCP and Kieron. We have no right to know anything other than the Community Manager position is now in the hands of someone else.
Kieron, you will be missed, I'm sad that you've left. I wish you the best of luck in whatever you do in the future. -- Ralara / Ralarina |

Edited by: Le Skunk on 11/04/2008 10:30:41 Kieron was my snout on the inside of CCP. He was assisting me in my investigations over the mysterious disapearence of the "New Player Experience" people from eve tv.
We were so close to finding the truth.
The last I heard from him he was talking about a man in a top hat, gas coming through his keyhole, and a giant white inflatable ball.
Now we have another mystery. And I must begin the painstaking work of de programming another CCP employee.
This is a dire setback for truth and the american way.

Fly safe Kieron! LetŠs hope youŠll return to CCP one day.
I can only remember one departure, which was handled in a good way (by himself): Garthagk. It would be great if more Devs (and specially Community Devs) could leave in such a great manner. They donŠt have to tell us the reason for leaving the company (who would tell, if you got sacked or if you switch to Blizzard?), but a message to the community is really a great gesture.

This would have been nice. Alas, CCP really has let us down with not announcing even a replacement till this was braught up.

CCP you might as well shut down these forums now tbh, He was the only member of staff (IMHO) at your place that had the pulse of the players, the rest just smile at there on-line banking.

He left? damn... I guess being a community manager is the worst job one can have. You take the **** from your community, you're always at war with the DEVS about what you can and can't tell. You have to spin every bad thing hoping that we, the blithering murderous idiots, accept it without going to Iceland with pitchforks and stakes.
It's a lose-lose situation I guess. Kieron, I hope you're allright, still playing the game and are having fun in it.
