Just to stick my ore in on this, during the last week my connection has been swamped [i.e. bandwidth >95%] fairly much all the time.
when I've been playing I have only had 1 disconnect - the rest has been laggy but stable...
I know this does not help the majority of you but it points to disconnects being more to do with something en-route to ccp servers rather than them. [I'm in the UK BTW]

Has CCP changed how connections are routed? Connections to the Eve server used to be via Level3 routers, it now appears to be routed via TeleCity.
I'm starting to get dropped connections.

This is happening to me too. I've run tracert and its fine. I've also run the telnet search and thats ok, as is pingplotter. Correct portforwarding on my Router.
I can occasionally connect, sometime for long periods but I frequently get Status: Unknown and get no further.
Nothing else I use online has a problem and my last petition response was "ISP error" I've emailed my ISP to see what they say.
Not the best of errors is it!
I guess some of us needed nerfing

I'm having similar problems... mostly just disconnects every few minutes and not being able to reconnect until I've exitted and reloaded EVE. But my WindowsLive Messenger (MSN) keeps disconnecting all the time so it'll probably be my ISP Orcon here in New Zealand... It's damn frustrating though

Never really had connection problems apart from the odd random disconnect... until today.
Logged on right after servers came up from DT and now I can't maintain a connection for more than 1-2 minutes, either at home or at work. :(

I like how I don't use EVE voice, yet now today that it works for those that do, I disconnect constantly. What a wonderful feature!

Seems as I'm in same situation as a few others. Never an Eve connection problem for over two years, and then suddenly today I can't stay connected for more than two minutes or so. After fighting this through 20+ discos/relaunches, I think I'll sit this one out for a while, and watch here for more info.

Having the same issues myself, it seems every 2 minutes the connection to Eve dies even though the entire rest of the web works fine... Didn't kick in until perhaps 3am-ish pacific standard, and since it's barely held on longer than two minutes.

I'm south of Indianapolis, IN and I seem to crash even before I reach the character selection screen most attempts. Ran Ping Plotter and saw a bunch of 100% packet losses on the graph. Ram 10 minutes of samples, got this: Target Name: N/A IP: 87.237.38.200 Date/Time: 4/30/2008 10:14:15 AM to 4/30/2008 10:24:00 AM

It seemed that half the time during sampling most of the packet losses (and I mean it was 100% packet losses) were at sbcglobal, which is my ISP. Just trying to change skills, got a final exam to take so I don't have time to troubleshoot this further.
Was wondering how many others having this problem today are going through SBC. They offlined the internet locally here for about a day once before, with no advance notice so they could do "system upgrades."
On the other hand, was able to watch streaming South Park episodes with no problem.

i also have ATT DSL but im located in Chicagoland area...this just started this morning for me. I can log on fine but my connection goes out after a few mins (internet keeps working in other programs)
this really needs to be addressed. What does ccp get paid for?

Not to run offshore routers. The problem seems to be stateside, specifically sbcglobal. CCP makes the game, but can't guarantee you can actually access it. That is (mostly) up to the network providers.

FYI, I've been 'discussing' the problem with ATT tech support for the past 20 minutes. I'm still having a hard time convincing them that it's an 'issue', as they say that I I'm the only one who's reported a problem.
If your provider is ATT/SBCGlobal, please call and let them know.

What, doesn't ATT lurk here constantly to troubleshoot problems as they arise?
Calling it in myself. The problems aren't just with Eve, from what I've seen, but it hasn't hit surfing very hard, except for these specific forums.

Anyone have a 800 number they're using for complaints? There are about 20 different numbers listed and I think it would have more impact if we were all talking to the same call center.

I am showing 12 hops from me to 87.237.38.200. It looks okay until hops 8-12, which is with Telia.net. The ms at that point jumps from 7MS ---> 140ms. Is this an issue?
I am on Yahoo SBC Global - DSL.

California here as well. Have 2 connections at my house...Cable and DSL. Began with dropped connections and bad lag on the Cable connection ( RoadRunner )shortly after DT this morning and finally got to the point I couldn't log back in. Switched over to my DSL connection (AT&T) and still can not connect at all. Any further word from CCP or is this still a "user" issue?

It looks like an ISP issue, specifically with AT&T. It is a CCP issue insofar as it will probably do a lot to solve lag problems when it hits US primetime.

Listen, if you can get to other web sites (MSN or other news site) and runs fine then it isn't AT&T's fault. I am an outside repaired for them and trust me it has something to due with CCP, now if you can't visit other sites then yes it is AT&T's fault...
