Its about time i bought a new ship for level 4 missions. Going back to them as i'm bored of 0.0 ratting now.
What would be your ideal T2 Setups for this ship. Or/And What would be your ideal Setup for the ship (Faction and cost no issue)
Thanks :)
Oh and if anyone could answer the question, is the Golum better than a standard Raven or CNR it would be awesome? Want to hear from people who have flown them, not just number crunchers ;)

I have a fried that I run missions with often, he loves his golem... Then again, he runs a perma-boost faction setup...
The spare highs on any marauder are insanly useful, me and my friend use them for salvagers/tractors, but they can be used to make a hell of a remote repping team... (also useful if you damage a drone lol) Ive noticed that 99.9% of people on these forums have a signature. If you are one of the 0.1% that doesnot have a sig, copy this into your sig, and display your defiance towards people with sigs. |

I would say it's better than regular Raven (depending somewhat how u use it). As far as CNR vs Golem goes it depends how you fly it. They are different ships with different advantages. If you are not 'proffesional' missionrunner or prefer more casual playstyle then most likely Golem is more sensible for you, if you know all missions eyes closed and do em balls flapping in the wind 'gank style' then CNR is better for you.

Against the rats? It will last a very long time.
Against suicide gankers? A couple of minutes at the most. And they will be coming after you, if you use that setup. |

About your setup - it is not very good. Ofc it would work, with the tanking ability of Golem almost anything would work that involves shield booster. I would just like to point out that shield extender is not very sensible in case of battleship. Also, while that faction shieldbooster is uber I would not use it on Golem, as it's so expencive that it alone would make you worthwhile to suicide for it. As rough rule of thumb, if your fitted modules cost 300 mil or more then you are worthwhile target to be suicided (in missionrunning battleship) altho I believe most who do it for isk would not bother under 500 mil in modules.
4x CN launcher 1x shield booster (large II or CN) 4x hardeners 1x boost amp 1x afterburner 4x CN BCU + rigs + drones
would be more or less sensible altho depending on your goal you might have to play around a bit with fittings if you desire permatanking setup. In near future CCP plans to implement a user interface change where you can change ammo in all launchers at same time (not right cliking them one by one) after what T2 launchers might grant you slightly better effectivity for actual killspeed than CN ones (if you take advantage of them by using t2 ammo). If you run missions in mission hub I would change one of BCU's out for damage control II to make yourself less attractive for suiciding for your modules.
As you seem to have enough funds for faction equipment I would also like to point out that goot set of hardwires is very good investment for missionrunner. If nothing else then at least 5% missile damage and 5% missile RoF ones.

If you are carefull Suicide gangster only have a Chance to bring a properly fitted Golem down, if they scan you out and you have Aggro of many NPCs and you don't warp out. In other Situations like travelling or if you don't have Aggro of NPCs who help them with the Damage they will need a very big Gang(Tackler and >5 BS) to get you down surely. If you Team with PPL and you get ganked it's your own Fault.

It actually takes only 6 torpedo ravens to down CNR (or Golem as golem has smaller hp buffer). They do it usually after you jump thru stargate. Some 15-20 seconds is enough to lock you, activate warp scrambler and get off 3 volleys, doing some 95 000 damage during approx 15 seconds. Thats why that approx 300 mil in modules above what it's profitable to gank you (assuming 50% of your modules get destructed).
With insurance as it is currently it will cost you 85 mil to buy, raven, 35 mil to insure it and upon it's destruction you will get 108 mil from insurance. Plus ofcource 6 torpedo launchers, some sensor boosters, painters and scrambler plus 5 BCU's.

Edited by: Schena on 31/03/2008 12:45:42 This is my golem setup, can't use it yet though :)
4x Siege Missile Launcher II (javelins for range / rage for dps) Tractor/Salvager
1x Caldari Navy X-Large Shield Booster 2x Caldari Navy Shield Boost Amplifier (with the tanking bonus of the golem = <3 ) 2x Caldari Navy Invulnerability Field 1x Heavy Cap Booster II (you have enough cargo to bring alot of 800s with you) 1x Target Painter II
3x Caldari Navy Ballistic Control System 1x Reactor Control System II
RIGS: 1x Rocket Fuel Cache Partition I 1x Hydralic Bay Thrusters I
Implants, dunno if needed. a 5% velocity for torps/missiles then. I get about 37km range with rage torps and 55.1km with javelins (with bombardment and projection lvl 4) The DPS is about 1000 with rage and about 700 with javelins.

i think it is leandro salazar that has all those "there is no n in turret, there is no ..."
well, he can add one more, "there is no "u" on golem"

You should make Room for an Afterburner.

you no like turrnets on golums?
anyways estamel's fit with a gist c type, tech 2 ccc, pwn target painter, and cap rechager II
or the fit above but with t2 torps, and a tech 2 missile velocity rig, needs a officer cap recharger though
but since cost and suicide ganks exist, probably just everything caldari navy would be fine.
