Lol Gallente/Minnis will be obliterated ! We have the best snipers (rokh/cruise raven), we have the best damagedealer (torp-raven) - and we have the numbers. The descendants of tau ceti french will be defeated in a Blitzkrieg within 4 weeks.
To bad we wont see faction warfare this year ... if it's announced for "somewhere in summer 2008", we won't see it before spring 2009, if at all.
Rail megathron/artillery tempest/blasterthron? Saying nothing of all the great minmatar pvp ships. There is a reason a raven will die to almost any other properly fit bs. Anyway, from what I heard faction war won't limit to you 1 race ships, as that would just be stupid (plus minmatar would just win) And yet again, numbers won't matter as most people don't care about this (including me ). Seriously, we need some kind of separation between the post and signature. |

I've always enjoyed EVE for its adapt or die gameplay, whatever else the The Empyrean Age is I hope that it forces massive change throughout the game and affects everyone!
The more chaos the better imo, things are too predictable and stable now. Nothing like EVE started off to be.
What the game needs is another Armageddon Day that redraws the lines and forces people to adapt or die
(or it could be all hype, badly implemented and a big letdown where nothing really changes... again)

I will fight for the people of the Khanid Kingdom/Amarr Empire. I have never been one who cares for religion however I will fight for the people I hail from.
I am somewhat new to EVE, I wonder how this will effect me as opposed to players who have much more time invested than I..? |

Well let's all be honest here.
The Caldari are going to be carebearing it away (after all it's what their race was designed for).
The Gallente are going to be racing around in their pimp-ships of death pewpewing anyone that gets near them. Their superior blobs will lay waste to most.
The Minmatar are going to be zipping around annihilating anything that moves slower than they do (which is just about everyone) and zipping off to the next target.
And there you have it. All the races duking it out.
Personally I'm thinking it is going to be a very very close tie between Gallente and Minmatar, but seeing as they are historic allies they will just reign supreme together :D
Gallente pride ftw :)

so they still hold their original time-plan... release this fall
as long as they make it something more than redVSblue they can release it in spring 2020, it will still (hopefully) be awesome

Quote: Eve The Empyrean Age Tony Gonzales Space opera on an unprecedented, larger-than-life, scale
These are times that will test the bounds of the human spirit.
A clone with no name or past awakens to a cruel existence, hunted mercilessly for crimes he may never know; yet he stands close to the pinnacle of power in New Eden.
A disgraced ambassador is confronted by a mysterious woman who knows everything about him, and of the sinister plot against his government; his actions will one day unleash the vengeful wrath of an entire civilization.
And among the downtrodden masses of a corporation-owned world, a man named Tibus Heth is about to launch a revolution that will change the course of history+
The confluence of these dark events will lead humanity towards a tragic destiny. The transcendence of man to the dream of immortality has bred a quest for power like none before it; empires spanning across thousands of stars will clash in the depths of space and on the worlds within. Those who stand before the tides of war, willingly or not, must face the fundamental choices that have been with man for tens of thousands of years, unchanged since the memory of Earth was lost.
This is EVE, The Empyrean Age. A test of our convictions and the will to survive.

Originally by: PeHD0M Edited by: PeHD0M on 23/04/2008 09:08:17 I hope that faction warfare will not be (amarr+caldary) vs (minmatars + gallante), because it will be borring. From the RP point of view and backstory i see a lot of links, wich connect gallante and amarr, despite their differencies.
So i want to see something like (gallante + amarr + rogue drones) vs (caldary + jove + minmatars). I this case i will either choice amarr\gallante side, or will remain neitral and stay with concord and SOE .
There is no way this would happen unless things change dramatically. The Gallente and Minmatar are allies and the Gallente supported their fight for freedom. The Gallente don't like the Caldari because of the previous war and they don't like the Amarr because they hold slaves. According to some mission text, etc, some in the Gallente Federation support war with the Amarr to force them to release slaves.
Maybe the races won't be allied, but each will only be at war with one other race along the traditional enemy lines. Or maybe there will be two allied sides. But the Gallente are not going to fight the Minmatar and they're not going to ally with the Amarr (unless maybe the Jovians decide to take over the whole galaxy leading to the other four races allying).

This is an extremely interesting read for those who are unaware of it, and shows just how unlikely it would be for the Jovians to side against the Minmatar or Gallente (unless of course they do something really, really stupid.) I think they're fairly indifferent towards Caldari, as after all they were the first to contact the Jove and get access to pod technology (much to the dismay of Lieutenant Hirakii Pirkotan); nothing but business.
The Amarr are a different story. I'm fairly certain the Jove don't like the Amarrian empire. God help them should the Jove ever decide to get actively involved with the other four races militarily (unlikely as that may be.) eve-online.com |

If it comes to factional combat, I'm fighting for the Ammatar Mandate. That way I can be hated by *both* the Minmatar Republic *and* the Amarr Empire, and strongly disliked by the Gallente Federation by proxy. Makes for a target-rich environment.

Unless it's required that you join the fighting, nothing is going to change.
Carebears who avoid PVP like the plague will still just neglect to sign up if given the option. No one who doesn't feel like fighting will fight. It will just be a little "mini game" on the side where you can shoot other factions.
The only way to counter this is to make the factional warfare required.. or to make it cause enough chaos that it actually effects every player. If 90% of the population is still going about their business with nothing changed (except maybe more ships being sold), then it fails completely at immersion.
There would be no feel of the grand scale warfare promised. There'd be no turmoil, no adaptation.. only a minigame where you get to meaninglessly pewpew.
Of course, people will whine if their safe missioning and mining is somehow interrupted. I honestly don't see how this will turn out well. Y
You'll either have the PVE'ers crying in mass, or a meaningless addition to the game. On par with WoWs "PVP" where the warring factions come in and play capture the flag for honor. Feel of warfare? Negative. Any significant impact in the game? Negative. Another little mode that will likely be farmed for it's rewards and ignored? Yup.
As nice as it is in concept, I simply don't see how it can be implemented successfully without a torrent of dignified "I'm quitting EVE because my internet spaceship might get blown up" threads.

If, as seems likely, war does break out between the factions I think that although I am Gallente born, I won't be able to stop my urge to throw my lot in with the Matari tribes and use my expensive FNA Special Forces training to help free slaves from the disgusting Amarr Empire. |
