Originally by: Shira Tandaria We can even take it one step back. How is CONCORD/sentry tanking exploiting in Yulai?
Nowhere is stated that CONCORD is supposed to kill "criminals". They shot back and did their work. There was no exploiting. However, CCP decides that that was exploiting, and they aren't allowed to do it. There's no logic behind that at all.
The police system was broken. Concord did not field an adequate amount of units, nor did it asses threats -at all- which wasn't the intent. They were supposed to have died, and would have if Concord wasn't broken (which it wasn't before a certain patch). They took advantage of that, they were asked to stop, they didnt -> actions taken.
TomB once mentioned in a CSM chat that players weren't supposed to stand up to Concord. That the notion itself is absurd, because Concord can field vastly more powerful units then players ever can.
That's why I think Zombie got banned. We'll never know, of course.
Quote: The same thing goes for sentry guns in 0.4. However, they are supposedly not exploiting. The only reason one can think of then, is that CONCORD is supposed to kill everything it faces, and sentry guns are not..
Which is obviously bull****.
Sentry guns do not spawn more of themselves when defeated, nor do they respond to a thread by warping(spawning) a couple of units. Instead, they are stationary defenses instead of response-teams, which means that once circumvented (through staying outside the range, or taking your shields against them), they are not expected to spawn more of themselves to help with the threat.
This is all speculation, of course, but it's one line of reasoning, and he one i consider to be correct mostly coz its my line of reasoning

What's the difference between CONCORD at gates, and gate sentries? Their purpose is practically the same afaik.
You disagree?

There is a difference - in Yulai the Swat/Police teams are meant to be able to destoy you even if the sentries can't and what Zombie were doing stopped this happening due to the inability of the npc police to have an AI complex enough to cope, hence the CCP statement.
In Atlar i'm not sure that the Police even respond but what Zombie are doing is borderline - they seem to have moved up that far purely because the traffic to GW and Curse has been severely curtailed - if you check the map it is possible to see it going on and avoid otherwise organise a response.

Edited by: Steini OFSI on 26/04/2004 15:43:43 I honestly can't tell the right answer, CONCORD and sentries are to prevent attacks, but they are not part of each other, the logic behind CONCORD is to prevent killing in 0.5 (CONCORD does not respond to action in and below 0.4) and above and have been so souped up that it should be impossible to survive after you make agression there and therefore concidered exploit to manage to, the logic behind sentries is to prevent any fighting within their range.

I didn't know sentries don't spawn after being killed. Hmmm

They do re-spawn after being killed, but they do not call for reinforcements. (eg, a whole buncha sentries spawn). The fact that they're stationary defenses (pre-programmed), rather then supposedly intelligent SWAT teams, means that they can legally be bypassed :)

Can't belive people have 14 pages to post on a none exploit.
I messaged GM's the first day it started, they told me exactly what they where doing and it was legal (some reason thought it was something else but oh well).
Either way I say drop it and learn to live with an extended route if u want to travel through there. Fear The Bunny

Anyway, I have found the answers to my questions (tho not really consistent, nor accurate) and im not really satisfied with it. But I'll live with it for now.

LMAO this made my day, after the 14 pages of gibberish that's in here, someone worries about going offtopic
Edit: Ehm there's a mod working in here, it was 14 pages already a while ago, hope all my flames are still there, I wasted a lot of time writing that up. ~{When evil and strange get together anything is possible}~ A tool is only useless when you don't know how to use it. - ActiveX The grass is always greener on the other side. - JoCool |

Originally by: GM Grimmi Hi folks, this is just to make it known that we GMs have observed this camping in Atlar and investigated it very carefully and there is no exploit involved.
Says it all and I think the other discussion has pretty much ended. For future referance you might want to read this page and remember that each possible exploit it reviewed by a case by case basis.
