Originally by: Tiona I have looked in EVERY system in two different regions and cannot find a single available lab slot. This is unacceptable! If people are renting all the slots and are actually using them fine, but if they are empty, and they just keep paying for the rental, they should automatically lose them after a certian time period imo.
They do. If slot is'nt used within the 5 day rental period the lease is cancelled. Which leads to the problem of BPs being ejected and people losing their slots.
So keep an eye out for them, make WTB on trade or ask around corp or various chats. Not THAT difficult to find. Got my 4 slots in less than a day with a WTB, 3 weeks ago, at 250k each. Was from Ellaway who made a personal star rating in my personal standings :)

I won't sell you the actual slots 'cause that's not my game but for a fee I can point you towards lab slots that have been unrented for months.

If you find lab slots you are very lucky. I spent 2 hours yesterday with nothing to show for it. Finding 0.4 > lab slots is not easy as well. Allot of times those are all rented too. You notice the pirates are saying they have plenty of slots where there is a chance you can get ganked. If you want slots just pay for them on the market that is how it works these days. That guy will un-rent the slot he is using to research a 75mm gatling gun to ME 1 billion. |

I still think that the prices of lab and factory slots should depend on suply and demand. The owner of a station where all slots are taken should increase the price. Sure, this would mean that new player couldn't afford the slots in popular systems, but it wouldn't change anything because the slots are allready taken.

Well, thats all great but some of us actually have to work for a living and can't spend 12 hours a day looking for lab slots on this game

I had 5 slots after many hours of looking about, but my BP's got ejected.
I'm really not a happy bunny now, it'll take ages to find some again.
As for the main point of the thread, yes, there should be more slots, people have been asking for months (or a month at least)

There's plenty of labslots, if you can't take the time to find them then perhaps you're not fit to be a researcher...

I have taken more than enough time to find them, the strange thing is, I actually want to enjoy the game and not **** about looking for slots. Strange huh?

I think there's a distinct lack of lab slots around but I don't know how you can solve this. Labs are insanely cheap but increasing the price isn't going to effect that many people.
I heard someone say about making it that you can only rent what your skills can allow, but then people will simply open an office and the corp will buy them all.
There's thousands of empty factories, is this because of the price of factories or the fact they're in every station ever?
I just don't know. More labs slots could equal more blueprint copies which would kill the tech two economy much like tech one was affected. I don't think there's a quick fix when it comes to lab slots.

It's because holding a factory doesn't do anything for you. Holding a research lab and continuously researching gives you a better chance at a T2 blueprint drop, the way I understand it.
The solution seems pretty simple:
DEVS: Please make T2 blueprint drops come about some other way? Surely you didn't mean for labs to be (ab)used in this manner?

True. They do hurt the economy. I think they should remove the ability to escrow bpc's and liscense their use to the corp members, or individual that made them to use, which may have been the original intent of bpc's anyway.

Lab slots rental price should follow the offer and demand. When a station is completely rented, the prices of rental should raise and when there are unused slots it should go down. This way people would not rent cheap slots to prevent others doing research stuff. 1k for a slot is way too cheap, anyone can afford this even if they don't need a lab.

T2 Blueprints dont come from researching prints they come from research agents. This is a completely different system and isn't why the lab's are all full. The problem is that the Tech 1 prints are ubar cheep and so everyone wants there own set of original prints all at a high ME. This is also one of the factors in why the market is pritty dead.
