Edited by: StinkRay on 15/04/2009 12:07:26 Edited by: StinkRay on 15/04/2009 12:02:47 This is an awesome little program that just got better! For exploring/roaming purposes, ombeve or dotlan maps still have the advantage over this one but this looks so much cooler.
I think some customization on the looks is in order. It needs a bit more readability for it to be really useful in tight situations. (I'd like to have this app on my secondary screen instead of a 2d map.) Colors, width of lines, size of fonts etc..
One feature I'd like is to have "show systems in regions", so that a selected few regions would be the only ones shown on the map. Even better would be if region selections could be saved. Do this and you have a big advantage over the in game map!
---
If possibly, make it so that users can move systems around themselves to their own preference and save that as a "layout"? That way, I could selected my regions of operation, and then just move the systems around until I got a nice clean layout.
It's probably not feasible to re-order the nodes with an algorithm, as overlaps would always occur. It's better to let a player move a few systems around for readability.

Please resize sig to a maximum of 400 x 120 and filesize no greater than 24000 bytes - Mitnal |

So far I have found just one problem - the program hangs when I select the "Show solarsystems" from Region option.
Okay, so I found out why it hangs. If you select the "From region" with the drop down menu blank, the program hangs. However, if you select directly from the drop down menu, it works fine. Hope that helps.

Hi,
Great program. But I have messed up settings (I think I used the select maximum resolution (sic) on the pull down menu and it keeps crashing before starting. Your help to reset the settings (out of the program) or re-install is appreciated.

Hi AcriQuo, and thanks for the Jump Program that you've created. I'm running Vista 64-bit and have updated to the newest Java for Vista 64. Now according to Sun's Java website 64-bit Java will work compatible with 32-bit. I 'Run' the program from your webite and the interface pops up for about 3 seconds (everything is there). Then it crashes to desktop. Any suggestions? Here's the error log:

What this really needs is more focus towards jump bridge and cyno gens networks. A new tab where you can enter system names and drag routes onto other systems so you can retain a nice permanent record would be awesome. Also a little annotation feature so you can write in pos locations of jump bridges or system locations of cyno chains and or cyno gens. Very useful for alliances with a large network. obviously you can retain the routes atm but it could do with being a little more user friendly.
Otherwise... Awesome work man

Edited by: Tom Peeping on 16/08/2009 22:36:13 This is a pretty awesome tool, Great work man!
That said, a couple of the features don't work... Maybe it's just me, or maybe they aren't working for everyone? For example system occupancy shows null for every system, including some I know have not been null for > than an hour. Also, the "color systems by" functions are working fairly spotty. Sometimes they are there, and sometimes they arent. (this is true regardless of the ones that show null values like the issue with occupancy, but is also true with one that are not null, such as system sov.) Most of the time, you only see a system if you mouseover the intersection of the connections... and if you don't show the connecting systems it's a right pain to find the point to mouseover. It does show the colors for the second that you select the option, but then vanishes, so there's sort of a workaround by clicking over and over and over to get a strobe light effect of the system colors.
P.S Any chance of adding the rest of the stats? Number of jumps? Pod deaths? Pilots docked, active, etc?
Btw, adding the jump planning is pure win!
Edit: I also have problems running this in fullscreen... horrible flicker and don't really ever see the map. I just run windowed and it works ok.

Here's a heads up for the latest Java 6. You might get an error after updating Java that says the following:
java.net.MalformedURLException: unknown protocol: socket
If you get this go to control panel and go into Java. Then go to the network settings and select direct connection.
By default it will try and use the browser settings which may cause issues with some people, particularly if you have a proxy of some kind.

Has anyone else tested this with an x64 version of Vista or Windows 7, running JRE 6 update 15?
I always get a Java Web Start error "Unable to launch application".
Originally by: AcriQuo Edited by: AcriQuo on 07/04/2009 10:48:09 Hello all,
Lately Ive been busy writing a 3D out of game map for EVE. I know there are already a few out there, but they were either no longer being worked on, or they didnt suit my needs. Therefore I started writing my own and well, here is the result . You can see a screenshot of the program on the site linked to below.
Current version: 1.4
Features: - Jump planning - Capital cyno planning - Lots of display options and filters - Solarsystem search - A lot more..
Requirements: - Java Runtime Environment 1.5 or higher - An OpenGL Capable videocard
Ive tested it on Windows XP and Ubuntu 8.04, but it should work on any java supported OS.
It probably still has bugs, so please report them. Feature requests, notes and appreciations are also welcome.
How to run: Clicking on the following link should should start the application: EVEMap Webstart Website: (With screenshot) EVEMap Website

Just updating my own post, I figured out that when this launches a call is made to a verisign.com site for certificate validation, and that site was getting got on my proxy server, I created an excception for this site to bypass the proxy and it launches correctly.
