Ohhnoes the shame, it burns. Our once glorious leader are coming out of the wardrobe, he is openly admitting the fairy thingy and even some occasional wand waving.
Now i know how the MC's pilots must be felling when it comes to folding the flag without a single shoot fired.

The MC did the very best of what can be done in this game, and that is to change it. Change the map, change the politics, change alliances. It will be remembered well, and personally by me very fondly. Best of luck to everyone moving forward in what you do next.

Originally by: LLago Cesarii As a young pilot who grew up flying in support of D2 in Deklein, MC was the boogeyman. "Earn that isk now!, MC is coming to kick the dog **** out of us." It was all true, flying against them was shattering, as anyone who didn't cyno out and run (like the rest of the north did) anytime they showed can testify. I can't tell you how fortunate I felt to get to eventually fly with them, and learn from them. Farewell MC, you attempted to build your shining city on the hill, to attempt neutrality. It's a shame that those who call you backstab don't understand what that means.
To the Goon coalition: no, Tortuga could never really join you even if it was in our best interest (and my preference). The fact that the 3 major fleets I flew in with you guys got suicided by the worst FCs I've ever flown with didn't help. We were attempting to expressly NOT join a side, MC had been called a pet for so long no one wanted to don another collar and leash... neutrality, y'know? BTW, neutrality doesn't work in Eve, trust me, don't try it.
To Bob, congratulations, but why dirty your victory with falsehoods? To claim you came looking for a fight when in fact you ambushed us alarm clock style with 6 times our numbers (450+ vs. 80) is well... dishonest. In fact your entire strategy was to dodge the fight until you had minimum 4 to 1 odds in your favor. In my 4 months in PB I have never seen Bob engage outnumbered, or even against equal numbers. Perhaps to many low quality ex-pets in your gangs these days, which explains the Goonswarm tactics. As a pilot who has made it his business to engage outnumbered I found this strange from the so called "elite". Win how you feel like you need to I guess. Again, grats on victory.
News just in, Daisho still fighting the epic fight in PB.
Also "alarm clock opp" can not be applied to people who haven't actually gone to bed yet (we moved on 1-n direct from H74), and that is only tortugas excuse for 1 cyno-jammer going down. Funnily enough i sat in several GBC fleets in Period basis offering combat to Tortuga while outnumbered and it was you who did not engage, preferring the coalition to do all your work for you. The fact that 450 pilots wanted to hit you (tortuga) in the early hours of the morning after seiging all night propably tells you exactly what we think of "good fights" when it comes to MC.

I wasn't an alarm clock op, we had the fleet that had just taken H74 with no resistance. We were bored and there was nothing to do so we hit 1-n with the hope that over the coming days u guys would fight like demons with nothing to loose. Sadly that didn't happen. If you had 400 people in a fleet wanting something to do would you tell them they can't come?
To take the point about not fighting outnumbered frankly where the hell have you been for the last year. As for your 4 monts in pure blind, a quick look at your stats and we see that you wern't that active on the frontlines at all. Leave the smack out of it if it has no basis in truth.
However farewell MC you were always among the best in eve its a shame to see you go out without a bang.
It's not smack, my apologies if you interpreted it as such. It's in fact what I deemed necessary to counter what I saw as smack. Too many Bob pilots crowing about wanting a fight when you used tactics designed to insure no fight happened. It is a fact that Bob attacked 1-n at approx 3:00 am U.S. time is it not? that's certainly "alarm clock style" so point validated. It is a fact that we had a substantial (200 or so) fleet in 1-n yet you waited 'til we went to bed to attack - so fight dodging point validated. Again, congratulations on your win.
It was you who avoided the fight by having a fleet in 1-n instead of H74 where towers were coming out of reinforced, so lol @ u mate

If you stand with feet in separate camps, you generally don't fair well. Your willingness to change sides on a whim like changes in the weather never sat well with either side I am sure. You made your bed, now lie in it. Public apologies and all that guff mean squat. You betrayed them, they suckered you into betraying your new mates......karma.
The coalition failed against BoB for one reason and one reason only. Alterior motives............yes they all wanted BoB gone but in the end they couldn't overcome their petty differences and idiot alliances like -A- thought it better to turn on blues than get on with the job in hand. Resetting half of the coalition was about as smart as taking a whizz on an electic fence. BoB are around because they were able to sit it out by digging in, no other reason. They waited long enough for the idiots to make the decisions and for boredom to set in. Kudos to Goons for sticking it out longer than most, shame your dumbass blues started resetting non priority targets.

And in Sels defense, he had a true passion for this game. He didn't deserve a lot of the disrespect he got in the past 8 months. Unfortunately, he is the figurehead, and the fall guy for an alliance. Sel made MC great, in the waining days, MC didn't return the favor.

Best wishes to MC's pilots. Not many alliances can say they have had quite the enduring impact on EVE as you have had. As some have pointed out already, your campaign in the north last year was nothing short of impressive.
I can't help but to think how things might have been different for MC (and all of EVE) had MC's leadership made the choice to what I felt they should have done in the wake of that campaign (Sel would probably recall what I'm talking about). It would have been pretty exciting.
I look forward to seeing what MC's former members do next. My guess is that they aren't finished making an impact in this game.

Originally by: DigitalCommunist I agree with everything said, since I probably said it at some time as well. But I will point out something people gloss over and ruin the mood completely (I can't help it, its a chronic disorder).
Cult of idol worship is hard enough to end in peace-time. Whilst I'd love to blame Mynas, he's just a tool whose never played a key role before, and probably never will again. Every alliance has people who will step up in the event of a power vacuum; who it is doesn't matter.
My perception is that you manipulated things on some level, through passive indifference. You took away the only unifying force in MC during a period of ideological transition and war, leaving the alliance to lobbyists and egos that could never fully overcome the past.
Long story short, the people who took over floundered and flopped under the high pressure as anyone could expect. The end became so inevitable they probably wanted you to absolve everything for them; to spare them the shame of admitting it.
If you wanted to save the MC brand (whether as merc or territorial entity), you would've pushed them to a place on the map where they can rebuild, redefine, and retry. You should know more than most people that losing a war and losing space is trivial if everyone maintains a long term vision. It takes the same amount of effort you spent writing this post to give them somewhere to work from, but you didn't.
But my guess is you'd rather see MC end than risk seeing someone else take it for good, change it, and be successful. The fact that you're even making this announcement proves that MC is, has, and always will be your baby. Nothing wrong with that ofc, if BoB goes down before the game ends, that's how it'll go.
Even if I'm wrong, you'd have to sabotage your idol status to truly help them move on for good, and I don't see that happening. It would marginalize your efforts, and fewer people would look back to the past with tear-eyed nostalgia. Which is fine, I'd take martyr status over helping losers bastardize my **** too.
A lot of interesting points there, for myself I've never thought MC was anyones baby other than Seleenes, I'm not sure anyone would be capable of turning it around and making them great tho, I honestly believe MC's days were numbered as a true merc corp with advent of capitals, the role of the merc corp is still viable but not as MC used to be pre-capital days, they were the standard which every other merc outfit had to measure upto and to be fair were the only "merc" corp in terms of status.
That said your right to "point out something people gloss over and ruin the mood completely" but for me as great as MC were, and lets be honest, they were, its the nature of their fall thats compelling, all their achievements great and small will be remembered but ultimately as I as pointed out earlier its the betrayal of BoB, and the nature of that betrayal that will probably be remembered most and Seleenes decision to do so regardless of who took over after the betrayal.
The collapse of MC was a spectacular nonevent, they didn't fight for their space against BoB and now Seleene has done what really was the only option close it down and consign it to history, its a shame how it happened but they can blame no one but themselves.
I must admit tho i'm really curious as to how the rank and file took the decision to turn on BoB?
The right path is not easily chosen. Walk into the light and be redeemed.
