hello is anyone having this so far i have trained empathy 3 times today and it keeps unlearning it self and going back to lvl 1, am i the only one that is getting this?

yeah i petitioned, i just wondered if anyone else has had this its driving me nuts, it think it unlearned heavy missiles lvl three as well :(

a friend of mine lost caldari frigate level 2 completely and the 9 hours or so overnight she had level 3 going , thats gone as well , also 1 hour of electronics level 3 .. i think she petitioned but has heard nothing yet

now its says that i have lvl 2 trained but my charimas still at what it was before, its just odd. i must be getting old keep forgetting things !

usually when you see skill levels disappear or 'unlearn' it is a graphical bug, and can be fixed by closing re-opening the character sheet, or relogging the character.
if the skills still do not display properly after that, then petition it as 'other' category since you will not hear back from ccp if you petition it as a 'bug' (and thus you will not get any help if you report it that way). fyi: as a policy bug reports do not ever get a response- the other types of petition do get response.

ok i just relogged and now the skill is not trained at all, i have two evemails for empathy lvl 1 and one for lvl2. ill try petitioning under other thanks.

I thought I was just imagining things when I trained spatial awareness to 1, then went to train it up to the next level and it was untrained.

try deleteing your cache folder or temporarily renaming it or somethin.

This has happened to me a couple times but despite what it says I never actuall lost anything off the skills. Sometime relogging would fix the display but the only thing that permenantly worked was training a few points into the next level then aborting.

This happened to me last night with medium energy turret. Got level 1, was training level 2 and about 45 mins later I get a 2nd evemail telling me "Skill training of Medium Energy Turret level 1 completed." I was in the process of getting a screenshot of the evemail/character screen when the game was unexpectedly rebooting - and I couldn't pull up the description of the evemail.
I figure I only lost about an hour of training so I decided not to petition anything (esp. in light of the fact that I had no "proof.")

the only proof i have is that i have two eve mails with seprete times on it but for the sake of like an hour it isnt worth it either :)

happened to me earlyer i was taring a skill to use something it took 10 mins so i waited it finished gotthe eve mail great i went to put it on and it said i didnt have the skill so i logged back in and it still wasnt trained so i trained it again this time it worked and i have 2 emails 10 apart saying compleat
i think this is ccp's new was of making pierating even harder

happened to me too and the petition answer said I was wrong and implied I was cheeting. Corp mate of mine also lost her indy skill, while flying the indy, and it still took 3 days to convince the GMs that she had learned it even though they had to move her to a station because she couldn't fly her ship anymore.
I don't think the Devs want that kinda bug getting out becuase while most bugs just blow your stuff up or annoy you, loseing skills would make the game unplayable and if it EVER happens to me again AND they don't fix it I know what I'll do :)

This is a known issue, but it didn't make the Known Issue list for some reason. As was stated by others in this thread, closing and re-opening the character sheet generally refreshes the graphics. Logging out and back into the game also fixes the glitch. It will be taken care of in the future.

I Relogged
I Deleted the cache folder
Yup.. Major Problem!!!
I just went from 20hours to completion for Learning lvl5, switched skills for 2 hours, came back to Learning lvl5, and it's now at 4days 6hours tell completion.
Nothing worked.. I could reinstall and this thing will still say i'm out 3days and 10hours..
Guess we will wait tell downtime and see what happens..
My skill should finish training around noon tomorrow for me. Even though right now it says 4days and 6hours.
NOTE: Even the EVE-Online WEB page says I have 4days and 6hours left on Learning lvl5.
This is totally false.. I know for a fact i've been training this skill all week. I deliberately interrupted the training at 20 hours. So that I could start it up again at a time where it would ultimately finish while i'm online.
But everywhere I look points to a chilling fact. I lost 3days and 10hours of training.

Yup, I'm experiencing this too, and it is NOT just a graphics bug. I trained Empathy to level 1, got the Evemail saying that I had trained to level 1, and it still says level 0 with 0 points on my char sheet. Closing the char sheet and relogging did not resolve it. I had to train it again before it took. Looks like CCP managed to screw the pooch pretty badly this time.

That is not the issue here kieron...
Its not just a gfx glitch at all. I have the same issue on one of my characters but fortunitly for me the skills seem to become 'static' after downtime. Every skill i train between downtimes will continue to 'reset' itself to lvl 0. This is not just an error in the character sheet but it actually AFFECT modules and values relating to this skill. Acceleration control for example kept going back to lvl 0 eventhough i had trained it to lvl 2. More specifically the skills seemed to reset itself after each session change. My AB's would go back to 35% boost instead of the correct 38.5 with AC lvl 2.
I am almost 100% positive that i last about 4 houres of training on my friagte lvl 4 skill aswell. It was due to finish over night but didnt for some reason..i'm not entirely sure about this however but i have a very strong feeling that that skill took longer then it should have..perhaps one of my learning skill reset over night or something. In any case, this is affecting ingame modules and not so its not just a display bug, also its my firm believe that in sertain cases, training time will get lost due to this....very annoying.
Needs fixing!

It's the exact same things as what Zombie did, you may not attack in "safe-areas" (empire/within sentry range) without loosing your ship.

I had exactly the same problem.
Trained Sheild management to L4, swapped to train Trajectory Analysis 1, and guess what, when I restarted shield management, it was back to 3 days 19 hours for trainging. I lost a day's training, but the skill restarted slightly ahead of it's original point (I know, like the saddo I am, I have list with times for the skills I'm training). It's annoying, because I would have been ready to go the Teddy Bears Picnic myself and a few 'carebear' friends of mine have planned for this weekend.
Down into 0.0 alliance space.
One small fleet versus ever poor fool we can find.
And his mates :)

Well, it just happened again. I trained social to level 2, and guess what - its still at level 1.
Hint to CCP - This is *NOT* the correct way to aquire new customers or keep existing ones.

I think there is TWO problems. A graphic one, and a serious one. The graphic one is corrected by closing/reopening the character sheet or the game it self.
However, the serious problem seems to happen when you train a skill, and all is apparently doing well, BUT I think in fact the server didnt took your command, and so you are NOT training any skill. As long as you stay on the same skill, you will think all is doing well because the info in your cache say you started training. However when you change skill training, you will receive new information from the server, and it will appear that no sp was earned in your skill because the server never received your command.
Well, its only supposition, but it would explain the bug we have. I personnaly experienced the two bugs (and I'm almost certain its two separate bugs).

I have spoken to my friend again and she has tried all the tips given , closing re-opening character sheet , re-logging , deleting cache etc , still the same . this is no graphical bug , she did mention that she had no problem up until the cluster dropped her the other night , then after that it went a bit pear shaped .

This does seem like a fairly serious bug that hit me last night.
I bought a Blackbird because I wanted to go out and try some funky things like shield hardners with all the med slots the ship affords me.
So I bought Tactical Shield Manipulation and set it to learning. When I had got 890 skill points, I bought a few new skills, set to train them (to get them in my character sheet) then went back to tac shield manip. Soon after, tac shield level 1 was learned  The graphics looked good and I got an eve-mail about it.
So I tried to fit a Photon Scattering field. Error - you need Tac shield manip I. Hmmm, I changed my skill to try and train to level 2 on tac shield. Nope, back to 891 skill points? OK, no biggie, maybe a glitch, so I trained it to level 1, got the message, got the eve-mail. Things look good again. Start another skill training, back to fitting and try to put tac shield manip on. Nope, error again???
So now I've learned it twice. I relog, thinking this would fix it. I set it to learn again, get to level 1, get the message and eve-mail and try to fit the hardener. Success! Fitted another hardenere and make my way to .4 space to hunt rats with my hardeners to help me.
Or so I thought....
I take the ship to a belt, get into combat. Thunderbolt missiles coming in, activate my Photon Scattering shield hardener. Error - You need tac shield manip I???? Suffice to say, my BB did not survive 
Another relog, trained it again and it now seems to have "caught". But I trained it 4 times, only kept 2 of the eve-mails though as i usually automatically delete them.
So it's not a case that you haven't learned the skill. For a brief period of time, you have learned it, otherwise it wouldn't have let me fit the hardener. But it seems to unlearn it for you and take you back to a cached state for your character?
For me, it was most of a night's gameplay gone between me travelling about picking up equipment for the ship, then travelling to a suitable system to test, then my travel back home in an Ibis. Not to mention the cost of equipment and 60% value on a BB. I know that I'll be really annoyed if it messes up my Missile Op V training I'm doing at the minute like this. It's something that is definitely happening to people and I see it as something that's fairly critical to fix. After all, Eve is all about your skills!

I have a friend who lost a complete skill to this bug. It just disappeared. Not on web, not in game, not working at all.
I wonder how many skills i forget daily, mayb i should start to keep track of em (have about 90 different ones atm)
doh. I really hope they find a way to cure this soon, as its quite annoying ;)
