I never heard anything further on that project. Well I've "borrowed" that person's idea and made a user manual for the Kestrel. It's still work in progress at the moment but I really wanted to get some feedback on it before I polished it off. Please could you lovely people give me whatever comments and suggestions you feel appropriate. Use it to fire on drones in Fleet engagements (trust me.. unless your shooting at another frigate your light missles aint gonna hurt a bigger ship 'mutch'.. BUT.. people start gettign worried when their support/combat drones start dissapearing. Here's something 'close' to what i have on my kestrel. [Kestrel, Drone Killer vr2] Ballistic Control System I Beta Hull Mod Overdrive Injector Barton Reactor Capacitor Recharger I Phased Weapon Navigation Array Generation Extron Standard Missile Launcher I, Sabretooth Light Missile Standard Missile Launcher I, Sabretooth Light Missile Standard Missile Launcher I, Sabretooth Light Missile Standard Missile Launcher I, Sabretooth Light Missile useing standard launchers cause im to cheep to buy the better ones =D But it works rather well at poping drones... Being a frigate in a fleet engagement i tend to get ignored unless im warp-jamming someone people always tend to target the bigest 'threat' first so ive been free to fire on drones (managed to pop a few tech 2's and even had someoen in a Enimy fleet STOP repping his buddy and instead started repping his own drones! lol. Could also possibly be used as a anti-fighter platform.. as a Kestral 'can' be a pain to cruisers.. and thats basicaly what a fighter is. and they move slow enough that the light missles whont have any trouble hitting them. --------------------------------------------- "Only two great species on this planet take part in massive, organized warfare. Yes, we know it looks very cool when pilots do it in the movies. But trust me, scrubbing frozen corpse goo out of missile bay 3 is not how you want to spend your Saturday. OffBeaT	Posted - 2008.05.15 16:01:00 - [27] a good low sec tank setup for ratting that any noob can do in a kest that i use with my noob account.. noob setup for ratting in low sec with low ship skills. 2 standerd missile lunchers. 2 rocket lunchers for when you get rushed buy the frig rats. 1 meduim shield 1 damp or ecm for defance just incase somone drops in on you ratting. 2 pdu's the best ones you can get.

All sections are done, apart from section 3.6 Pod Systems. Please let me know what you think and I'll also start considering suggestions for a follow up manuals. Bear in mind that I mainly fly Caldari and some Amarr. Gallente /Minmatar ships would require me to consult you guys a lot more during the production of the manual. Most users of a light frigate probably wouldnt need to know that the kestrel can travel over 2000 times the speed of light. Thats generally irrelevant information. Alongside the stated uses of the kestrel, it seems more like marketing. What I'd like to see is some more elaboration on the inner functions and working of the ship. How to connect your pod, weapon calibration, sensor cluster maintenance... including diagrams and things. You're on the right track but I wanna see more nitty gritty things. Stuff that isnt generally mentioned ingame, but obviously would exist in one way or another. Not entirely sure who originally developed the kestrel. You can get creative though, instead of just a kestrel... maybe a "Propel Dynamics K1-A "Kestrel" Light Missile Frigate" . Just throwing that out there.

These aren't IMO serious manuals that you should be reading to know how to fly a ship - just imaginations of what they might be like if you actually owned your own spaceship. Anybody remember Frontier? The instructions manual for that game was a Flight Manual for the Eagle Long-Range Fighter. 90% of the info was wrong, outdated or plain irrelevent but it didn't matter since it was great to read

Gotta get real creative to make it interesting! Serve up some real fantasy in the realms of the inner workings of the ship. There are some neat bits in there, but it needs moar.

You are more than welcome to try. Most of this was written at 5am. I intended this guide to be a cross between a buyers guide and an existing users guide. The first half of the guide is actual useful stuff, section 3, about the ship systems etc is something I added late in the creation for a bit of padding. I'm not sure many people want to read 28 pages of how I think the warp drive works. I think I will do all the tech 1 Caldari frigates including the Ibis and the Caldari Shuttle. I'll see from there what to do next. I'm trying to steer clear of tech 2 ships because I feel that they have a rigidly defined role with in the game.
