It recently came to my attention that there is now a program out there wich i do not wish to name for obvoius reasons, wich allows an audible warning to be heard whenever a war-target enters system... why has this been allowed? Over the last few weeks as this program has gained popularity it has been clearly reflected in our killboard stats - with kills on wartargets dropping by upto 90% in some cases.. ccp what are you playing at - why not just scrap the wardec system and we`ll all have to go mine veldspar until out eyes bleed. In my opinion this program is a serious problem and unbalances the whole game.. also it`s quite possible that it could be used in conjunction with macro`s - thus alowing the plauge of macro mining to go unchecked once again. As a merc corp this hits our business hard and makes us work 1000% harder for every kill.. wich considering most targets hide in systems with 6 gates and 20 odd stations(too many imo) is already hard enough... Anyone with me on this????

I believe its because the carebears are the majority of players that pay while us pvpers who are the minority suffer, i read on a different post carebears are people that mine/ mission run and try to avoid pvp when they can and this program has just done that.
i got an idea why not give all the carebears a polaris ship wth 8 high slots for mining lasers so they got 99.9% resists and can go 2.5k so us pvpers are truely screwed.
what do other peeps think about this an remember do not post the name of this program as it will make you hated by the world of eve :P

therell allways be programs or 'game hacks' out there, that will give an unfair advantage to thoose who use them - at the risk of being caught and loosing their account.
rest assured, that with your post you possible drove a few hundret people to google now searching for the programm you described. not really in your interest, is it ?

Oh please I dont need the smart comments or puntcuation police.. (new paragraph)+ i have a broken arm atm so typing sucks afraid A sensible discussion would be nice, I`m sure enough of them already have it anyhow and those intent on avoiding pvp will dig it out of their own accord soon enough.

i dont think the program is good for eve... i didnt know about it before this post tho, and it took me around 15 seconds to find it.
hopefully your post wont be counter productive, as i rather like shooting other people :)

If you trawl back to when this happened (or search for the program name using eve-search.com), you'll find lots of discussions. Some of them were even occasionally sensible.
Bottom line: Some people like it, some people don't. CCP (or a senior GM, at least) stated that, while it didn't break the EULA, its use was "frowned upon". They're planning to modify/break/botch the log server so that this sort of thing can't be done in future.

Everyone who uses bacon is carebear, everyone who says bacon should be banned is carebear, everyone who likes pie is carebear and bin laden is a carebear. How about your just blame your own incompetence instead of just whining on the forums at the carebears.
(yeah i do both carebearing for isks and peew peew for fun, that makes me according to some a carebear, others say i am a traitor while others say i am a zombie since solo pvp is dead).
Edit: bacon sucks, CCP probably makes sure it cant work soon (TM). And try finding real opponents instead of ratters.

Furb.. have you been smoking something, that post was bizzare to say the least.. However if you are aware of what mercs do,yes it does involve killing carebears sometimes.. sometimes we do it for fun.. sometimes we even get a real corp and they fight us(wich makes us happy) And gratz you win the prize for possibly the dumbest post in this thread..

I only now noticed that the original thread was locked (which should be no suprise, I guess) – sorry about that — so there is some merit in having a new one….
Still, the topic has been debated to death fifty times over by now.

The only thing larger than my stupidity is your lack of search skills.
Awww now i named the program. Shall i just list them all so we have had that? BACON SAUCE CHIPS EGGS BREKFAST
Now what is the entire point of this topic? CCP will remove its ability to function soon (TM), everyone and their mother in law know it sucks and only morons use it, and now everyone also know you live under a rock.

Carebears runs missions, mine ice in empire, mine in empire, they reprocess their loot. ore, ice and sell them to industrialists on the market, which then make ammo, fitting moduls, ships, you name it. The pvp'ers/missionsrunners buy those things. --- It have always fallen to a few to sacrifice for the good of many

If you were supposed to get an audiable warning when a wartarget/victim/giantpinkrabbit entered the system wouldnt CCP have added it as a game feature. As they havent I dont believe it should be allowed

You are a really confused person.
The program you are talking about is for playercorps that are at war. Carebears prefer not to be wardecced at all and stay in NPC-corps.
That program is connected to the issue with local-chat. And as a carebear I do agree that local-chat must be removed. It makes it way to easy for pirates to spot easy targets to shoot down. But I do hope CCP in the same time boosts low-sec Gateguns and thus makes it possible to always enter low-sec. ---------------------------------------------------------- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GwaMHJzruDU&feature=related |

You wardec those industrial/mission running corps, they don't have it easy. You make it hard for them to produce what you need.
if they isnt any pvp they isnt a market for the ships modules ammo? so with this program only 0.0 people who can make there own stuff need combat ships lol the people that use this program dont understand how much there destroying there own market.

Btw, i am personally also in favour of making local chat less effective intel tool. It will hurt the non-pvp'ers probably more then the pvp'ers. But it is nice if you can do something about certain gatecamps, when they know just run when they see that a group with same size as their group enters local.

If you were to remove local you remove almost all interactivity within eve. Carebear heaven.... eve is like a delicate eco-system - pvpers provide a market and carebears have their place producing stuff for the pvp`er.. upset that balance and it all goes wrong.. Think how much veld you`d have in your hanger - it`d be worthless..

Edited by: Furb Killer on 15/05/2008 12:23:45 Edited by: Furb Killer on 15/05/2008 12:23:28 And this is exactly what i meant. Those who wish to boost local (bacon is just a boost to local as intel channel), are being called carebears here. If you want to nerf local as intel channel, you are also a carebear.
FFS, MAKE UP YOUR FREAKING MIND.
Nerfing local as intel channel means ratters cant see pirates coming. One button on ship scanner (which should imo also be changed when local is changed), tells pirate which ships there are close. A few warps and you can cover any solar system totally. Sure the ratter can keep pressing the scan button, but he also got all the other neutrals on his scan that are just mission running/ratting too. The pirate doesnt care who he sees on scanner, they are all targets. 'Pirates'/'pvpers' who say they cant pvp without local, just plain suck imo and are afraid for real opponents.

Why shouldnŠt local be removed?
What BACON does is just making it easier for wardecced player corps that are not paying attention to local-chat. Funny that you in the same time both hate BACON and love local-chat when local-chat is the big issue here.
And players in NPC-corps couldnŠt care less about BACON. And even without any war at all, players use combat-ship and ammo for doing missions. ---------------------------------------------------------- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GwaMHJzruDU&feature=related |

I`m not talking about piracy - i`m talking about empire war. no local and its like searching for a needle in a haystack, hell why not gimp the buddy list so we can`t tell if you are even online, then everyone will just be flying around blindly hoping to bump into/avoid a wartarget.. LEAVE LOCAL AS IT IS - ITS NOT BROKEN AND BAN BACON/BACON USERS

so how do you find a war target with no local? hope you bump into them on a gate as eve is massive search agents are only 90% ight if the person aint moving around ... then what?

Why not war decc a PvP corp if you are so nber? As you are both PvP I'm sure you will play fair and have a lot of fun combat... What you want is easy targets so at least be honest enough and admit it. Like the low sec pirates whining about lack of haulers doing AFK flying full of officer gear...

Well empire war might have a problem with local removed, but it would still improve the game in general imo. (and even if empire war wouldnt be possible, there would still be enough fighting, so ships being lost, so miners can sell their stuff).
Bacon is indeed nothing more then an audio version of local chat, which is the visual version. Now according to you the world is going to end when audio version exists besides visual. When just visual exists everything is fine, and when visual is also removed the world is going to end again. Really confusing.
Like i also said, when local is removed scanner should be changed. Wartargets should have a special color in scanner. So then you still have to make only a few warps per system max to know if there are wartargets in space.
And finally, how should CCP know if someone uses bacon?

We shoot whoever our cleint requires us to shoot, just so happens that eve has a lot of carebears, so if we get paid to ... we try to shoot them if they dont hide forever/quit corp/not login... Maybe you dont understand what mercinaries do.. but thats it .. its just business. We dont aim for carebear corps - they bore us silly tbh. Even moreso these days
