Firstly, I expect smack, feel free.
Secondly, as with most Merc corps, I am way past caring wether people believe it was a paid contract or a fake one, your decision to make, and bothers me not.
Thirdly KIA are available for contractual work from Sunday 1st June. Contact KIAEddZ in game. We generally dont take on work vs single corps etc, we need plenty of targets and a mark that is capable of fighting back.
Now to the report.
KIA were hired 2 weeks ago to hit Hydra in Hydra space.
The single goal of the contract from KIAs POV was to make Hydra fight, and keep them fighting. The contract source was unusual, to say the least, but made sense in a strange kind of way.
The contract stipulations were fairly simple. No mass Dread operations, no real threat on Sov, and keep Capital presence low. Force Hydra to fight in anyway you see fit, and do not allow them to hide.
In itself this posed KIA a problem, KIA Alliance at peak is only 50 or so active combat pilots, and we were well aware that Hydra numbers would be considerably larger than that. Daisho, who we had worked with closely in Tortuga, were free, so I offered and they came. Problem solved.
First port of call was P3EN.
Hydra bridges and cyno jammer in system. Classic Empire/Null Sec choke point.
The first few days saw a good deal of action, with the KIA and the Daisho Titan getting some action, and the Fleet getting a few large engagements, Hydra determined to keep us out, jammer being repped reguarly, fleets bridging in, and all in all a good first few days.
We tested them hard, and the attrition wore them down fairly quickly. Reports coming in from our spies that they had been oredered to get back "home" and sit n wait the contract out... this was not in our plan, and therefore not in theirs ;)
So as the first weekend appraoched, we moved to thier station system TVN.
The response was good, with Hydra ganging up in large blob fleets, out numbering us 2 or 3 to 1 at times, we were forced to live behind the shields of our active Titans.
Hydra put our tower into re enforced!, capitals were deployed by them, we had them fighting back. Perfect.
As soon as it dropped off a little, we threatened their pos, putting several into re enforced, and finishing them off when the chance occurred, again this created combat, with Hydra fighting hard for thier POS, never the less KIASho managed to kill 3 Large and 1 small, and each kill creating a skirmish of some sort.
The 2nd week was full of many of these skirmishes, some small, some very large, culminating Friday night with a huge Hydra and majestic empire fleet.
Majestic empire had come to "specifically have a go at the KIA Titan".. so we introduced them to her, up close n personal. Whilst they swam about in their pods, the main Hydra fleet was engaged by the KIA/Daisho fleet on a different gate. KIASho heavily outnumbered, but remote repping and solid Fc'ing, took down the Hydra fleet with consumate ease, and the fight was over.
Overall this contract was good for KIA, our morale was already flying after the feeling of relief of the Tortuga experiment being over and a sense of freedom returning to the ranks, but we got to exercise our small fleet tactics and the KIA Titan got to see some action.
We improved and solidified our relationship with Daisho but most of all, and in everyway, KIA fulfilled the contractual obligations. A return to a high profile job, and a succesful one for us, is pretty much all we wanted from the last 2 weeks.
So what of Hydra?
Well despite what others may say, these guys fight, a lot, and are not that far away from being a competent and organised bunch, they just need a mindset change and an injection of experience into a fleet that has heart and guile, and wants to be more than it is.
I tip my hat to them, and a lot of so called "PvP" alliances could learn a few lessons from Hydra, when the crunch comes, when ya ass is on the line, Heart>All.

It was good of your 'Contractor' to allow you to make up your own goals.
Shame you had to do an ok write up and finish it with smack, even worst is you giving out advise to other alliances....thats gota hurt.

I do not know Hydra, but if things are the way Eddz say. Hydra earned a lot more that the Bil they lost, in the form of experience and fun that is.

I must admit that having KIA on our doorstep can be quite funny. We had some good fights and learned a lot of lessons. However, I was really disappointed by the second week of the contract when one of the Titan pilots started his hit-n-run tactics. Sorry guys, but logging in, doomsday-ing three to four of our reppers and then logging off for another hour is not what I regard as having a nice battle in space.
Besides of this it was quite fun.
