Originally by: Ryco Looking around on the web I think its an issue with Excel 2000 and XML(meaning that Excel 2000 is not designed as well as later Excel versions are for XML importation.) My guess is a bunch of scripting has to be done in the background to import XML properly, but I have no idea how to do this.
Excel 2000 would require the use of the Microsoft XML, version 2.0 (or greater) library for XML parsing. This provides the DOMDocument class.
I would also use the Microsoft WinHTTP Services, version 5.1 to retrieve the XML file. This provides the WinHttpRequest class.

If so - just skip the chart.
Negative, a double-click on the file imports the whole document, and I can't find a way to open it from the Spreadsheet viewer in such a way that I would have control over which tabs I import.
The graph ends up taking two tabs of space instead of one which offsets all of the other tabs by that extra one. If you were to move the graph tab to the very end of the list, it would probably fix issues with OpenOffice. At the same time, I understand that also messes with how 1) you've got the graph grouped with the skill tabs, and 2) the fact that you've been reserving the rightmost tab for informational stuff. I guess it comes down to whether or not you're willing to give up those two things for compatibility.
OR you could just maintain two sheets. :P Heck, I'd maintain the second for you, but I don't have MS Office installed on this computer and I'd like to avoid it if possible.

Girard : I prefer the spreadsheet layout of this than the char manager in that link you provided...
I guess its personal preference

WOW
Nice work with the Excel sheet but the Character Manager totally blows my mind, what a fantastic piece of program!

Well lets see.... 1) It's a spreadsheet 2) People can look and see what is going on at the back-end if they choose to at any time 3) It can be changed at a whim to suite your personal needs/desires/requirements (assuming you know how to use excel) 4) If someone already has excel it doesn't require them to install 'yet another program'
Does it matter if it differs or does the same thing? Frankly I've never even looked at the 'Character Manager' and don't care to since it would require I install 'yet another program' on my system, and one with single purpose functionality... eg - EVE. I can do anything with excel... whether its eve related or not... shrug - doesn't matter much to me in either case.... I put the Eve Skills Spreadsheet together originally with myself in mind, ended up sharing it with a few people - and it was suggested I post it. Thus, I continue to develop it.
Nice try at hijacking my thread by the way. Cheap - but nice. (Oh - and thanks for the bump )

Thanks.... but it's ok if you use the "character manager", really.... I don't mind. I am sure it's a lovely piece of work.... I just refuse to use any compiled code that can have access to my password and login for a game or service I pay for with a credit card. Something that isn't at all necessary with my spreadsheet since you can log on to the eve website seperately and it can then go and open a web session to grab the info it needs (not to mention look at the code at any time since it's not compiled.)
Call me paranoid....

Since all the formulas are based on the 'Tab Name' and not location - it's not a problem for me to move the Chart tab to the 'end' of the row... I am curious however as to what the name of the 'second' tab that is generated for the chart is called.
I may have to install OpenOffice to see for myself...

Hey LL have you tried running Skill Checker in the spreadsheet that comes with the open source programme OpenOffice v1.1? I'm not using excel, would you mind taking a look at it ? I just wanted to know if skill checker performs worse under OpenOffice.

That's the nasty part. The second graph tab ends up taking the tab name of the tab immediately after Skillset Graph (Skill Descriptions). The contents of every tab gets bumped to the right by one. Basicly, every tab after the Skillset Graph tab ends up with the wrong contents. The last tab ends up with a default name of "Sheet17" since the bump created a requirement for another tab to hold data.

I like it.
My time does not seem to match what even is saying though. I have added all my attributes. All the learning skill values. (Figure out to enter skill points and not skill level) And the current value of the skill. But Eve is saying i have an extra day or so from what the spread sheet is saying.
Example, I have learning 5 and the rest learning skills at 4. To train one of them to 5 eve: 7D 3M 29s sheet: 5D 30M
Any idea whats up?
mem 15 int 11 per 15 cha 11 wil 12 ____ If your not dyin' your not tryin'. |
