I always tell everyone "Yeah I have this awesome x-type Domi" and never, ever use it. Why? Because it's a liability. Yeah, I know me saying an expensive ship is a liability has you all in stitches by now but the fact is I didn't want to lose it... and something about it just didn't feel finished. Where does the finishing touch come in? My new Augmented drones, of course! Allow me to share my ship with you. Core X-Types along with the active tanking lows delivers an overwhelming 1534 rep per cycle. Which is pretty kickin' rad :) The fact that I can active tank that much means I can keep a solid tank going long enough to do any multitude of things... kill my target, call for backup, or get to the gate and gtfo. Fact is I'm not probably going to barge into 0.0 with this due to the risk of losing it that much faster. So think lowsec. Anyway, originally I didn't have the 30km neuts so I used a Shadow Serpentis Warp Disruptor to match the neut range. Then my friend INSISTED that Crows can orbit Dominixes at 30km and keep me tackled. Though the chance is extremely remote, I decided to heed his advice and fit a Brokara and Dark Blood heavy neut to swat ceptors, and then pushed the rest of the neuts up to faction as well. May as well keep things inline. But yeah, I would have liked to fit a larger neut but this thing is so tight on grid it's practically screaming. The Nos keeps me happy when I get in range to suck on things, and with a high refire time on the Dark Blood injector I can keep cap happy for all purposes forever with only one rep running and the mwd off. But sometimes the MWD has to be on. So tackling at 30km is lol, I can overload the disruptor if I need to and it will stretch to 31km, which is sufficient. The Domination web keeps others in line, and the microwarpdrive allows me to overcome the ill effects of my armor rigs. But, where does this ship shine? THE DRONES!! <33 Let's check out the fierceness of these little monsters: 'Augmented' Warrior Top Speed: 8662.5m/s Tracking: 3.24rad/s EHP: 1500 Yeah, Crows are gonna freak out when they see this nightmare after them. 'Augmented' Ogre Damage mod: 7.92x Rack DPS: 475 EHP: 8602 lol 'Augmented' Berserker Top Speed: 2165.6m/s Damage mod: 6.44x Rack DPS: 386 EHP: 4438 Armor tanks fear Berserker IIs, and this step up makes them fast. 'Augmented' Hammerhead Top Speed: 2887.5m/s Damage mod: 7.92x Rack DPS: 238 EHP: 4652 A modest and quick drone, rawr

Anyway, this setup makes me wish the Gallente Navy Dominix that was mentioned back during the Gallente Presidential Election existed... because so many people I'm afraid are going to tell me "what a waste!" You aggress target, gate guns aggress you, your deploy drones, gate guns cycle to drones and BAM. :-( Unless I'm missing something about the plan you may love to try a Megathron.

EFT made people create setups with insane stats but most of them are useless. It's not about having insane stats but about making the most out of the least investment. (In my opinion atleast) You could buy a carrier complete with fit and fighters for the price of this domi and lets be honest: It's killable by a Curse and Arazu/Huginn - or even less. Even a Minnie-HAC/BC stands a good chance vs you because you will run out of cap-charges some time and popping drones is not a challenge. :< Well, enjoy flying it while it lasts, NeoNeTiC [MORTS]-EFT-Warriors ._.

Yes, I'm expecting some fights in lowsec at gates proper, but the possibilities of getting people to engage me happens from time to time. I mean, what happens if I'm in a belt and a crow warps to me. Crow is stupid to engage a domi so they have to bring in a bigger tackler. Once that happens you have a fight. I mean there's lots of issues with the facts of lowsec. It can be flown anywhere, but I -likely- will not fly it into 0.0 unless I need a rush that possess the chance of putting me in the hospital. Yeah. I guess we'll just have to see how it goes. I've always had excellent drone control skills, and I usually don't like to pop drones at a gate unless I'm right next to them or in scoop range. So there's possibilities there. But yeah, finding the right target is what this ship is about. Not every person is a target when you're working with special equipment. Also, I have tried Megathrons and I like them a lot, but I have lackluster gunnery skills. Actually, the whole idea that reinvented this ship was me flying around in a neutron Brutix with my Augmented Hammerheads and I realized it! AUGMENTED X-TYPE DOMI! It's what my Dominix has been needing to get that uber edge. Cut the crap, the Dominix has more Structure HP than Armor so putting a DCUII on there just adds to your effective HP. At least when you are going down flaming the 60% resistances across the board will save your ass as you try and bug out or call for help while without it you are dead, no questions asked. Math time! 130 HP x 38 seconds = 4940 HP ***** Structure on a Domi: 8301 8301 (HP) * 1.6 (DC Resists) = 13281.6 13281.6 (EHP) - 8301 (Domi Structure) = 4980.6 (Resisted HP) ***** I can tank better. So that means in 38 seconds I am doing better than I would with a damage control. I think I know what I'm talking about. Just saw your edit: lol, I seriously want to scream at you. First you say "in almost every way" now you just say it's the damage types. Let's see.. kinetic works better against armor than it does against shields. Thermal works better against shields than it does armor. So not only am I getting flexibility by getting to do two damage types with one rack of drones, but they are getting the HUMONGOUS damage modifier of an Ogre with Kinetic AND Thermal damage. On the Berserker, it's even better! They kick armor's ass and do a pretty good job against shields too. So please do me a favor and do some research before posting. www.siigarikitawa.com

I do understand the concept of the damage control. It is to save your ass. But listen, if I am able to rep more armor than the damage control can offer, I am ahead of the game in terms of survival for every rep that I make after 38 seconds of repping (or about 5 reps). So... I think it is you who needs to open their mind and read what I posted again. After you read it, tell me if having that 5000 extra HP from the damage control is going to matter if I can "make" more HP with an armor rep. Okay? www.siigarikitawa.com

Posted - 2008.05.30 06:04:00 - [24] Dunno what you two are arguing about but it just depends on the situation: If they out-DPS your tank but you manage to maintain your cap then you're better off with the EANM once you rep for 40 seconds, which sounds doable unless you jump into a big fleet. If your cap folds since they neut the ** out of you then you're better off with the DCU II (unless you're not in jumprange on a gate, waiting for the aggro-timer to run out. You're **** then anyways.). Some people believe they might get neuted to hell, some believe in pure active-tanking. Nothing new, just a question of luck wether the situation suits your fit or not. :\| Now get back to mocking the general usefulness of the setup instead of nitpicking about the old "DCU or not"-issue.
