Okay,
So I was inspired by Vogon's "Customer Service Announcement" post and decided to try my hand at ore thievery tonight. Opened up the map and looked for a big blob in high sec space. A few jumps away, 8 pilots in space - NICE. The system was Vouskiaho.
So I jump in my iteron mk5 and hit autopilot to that system. Took me about 5 minutes to find their little mining operation. At this point, my pulse is racing, heart pounding . . . I get to the belt, WOW . . . they have quite a big operation going. 3 apocs and two dominixes, services by two badger mk2s.
So I head straight for their ore containers. Funny. The containers all have multiple piles of the same amount of ore. Also . . . they are all named 001, 002, 003, 004, etc. Somethin's fishy . . . So anyway, I start loading up my mk5 with their ore, nobody says anything, they just keep mining away and jetting their ore into space. Nobody says anything in local either.
So I put two and two together and figure out that this is just one, big, automated mining operation. Yep, a huge macro mining party. Anyway, so I stayed for several hours and filled many iteron mk5 cargoholds full of ore . . . but it really ****es me off that these guys are exploiting like this.
The worst part, is I opened a petition about it at the very start when I figured it out. Still haven't received an answer hours later . . . you would think that "exploit" petitions would be high priority. Anyway, on with business . . .

LOL.
Should have got some friends to help haul, man would be interesting to see thier faces when they come back from AFK to find all thier ore gone.
(NOTE: I dont support 'ore thieving' but people using macro scripts deserve to lose thier ore.)

My approximate profits tonight from this miniature mining fleet have been:
200k plagioclase
115k pyroxeres
250k scordite
750k veldspar
Not bad considering I've had my own personal fleet of 3 apocs and 2 dominixes mining for me tonight . . . and trust me, macro'd badger 2s are nothing for competition! Lol.

That's interesting (and worrying).
I've had several occasions where people ignore me when i steal their ore and carry on mining. I thought they were probably just being high minded and treating me with comtempt, or calling up their buddies in Kestrels so I didn't hang around. Makes me think though that at least some of these guys were running macros.
OK I'm a thief so should probably relish the idea of macro miners working all night for me, but IMHO this isn't at all good for the game and I hope they get kicked for it.

it s sad.
we met some guys like this early in the game. huge mining operations.
try to throw a container out far away and check wether the indys will try to pick it up.
don t expect ccp to act on it. we petioned big time, but have been told that nothing could be proofed. (and this was even though a GM was present when the ships left the belt very slowly, one after each other, as if being controlled by the same player sequentially, if i remember right.)
this is what high sec safety leads to!
if they have even only 1 player present, they are completly safe, even from ccp.
it s killing the game.

This is just ****** up.
CCP have said that if you accidentally release 9 drones instead of 8 with Drones Interface 3 it's an exploit and bannable.
Yet here is a CLEAR example of a marco-mining setup and they do nothing.

there have now been 2 petitions put into ccp telling them that they can catch them in the act and ccp have not responded yet even to say they are looking into it.
Oh well needed some ore for some more battleships so I guess back to making sure that these exploiters dont benefit

If anyone knows of other macro mining corps, please let me know. If CCP won't do anything about them I guess its down to other players to do it for them.
I feel no shame in attacking players that are afk strp mining empire systems

Just pick up their ore after nudging their indies aside or just shoot the cans.

ive petitioned this as a bug 3 times, so imo its not a exploit. this was ages ago as well, so as its not been fixed while things that do work are being changed they musta looked at it

Yeah, Cao Cao may be at war with us, but I have to admit this is classy stuff. Well done for ripping off those cheating sods. That kind of thing is sad sad sad. I love the imagery of you making their mining fleet your slaves for the evening. You should probably send them and eve-mail saying you have their "cut" of the take somewhere in 0.0 if they want to pick it up. Knowing these clowns they'll probably write an afk macro to come to the station ;)

Not sure why but I often wonder what kind of person would write a macro to play the game for them? I mean, i know mining is boring, but why play a game if your not really playing it? The closest I ever came to this was afk mining in my Badger back when I was a newb, but to set up a whole hauling macro and all is a bit overboard. This means they got like 7 accounts, thats like $85/month roughly.
