Why are some of the corps here asking that new recruits have a faction standing of at least 0.5?
I understand that this is necessary for an individual joining a faction directly, and for a corp joining a faction, but it shouldn't be necessary for an individual joining a corp that joined the faction. For example, on Sisi the developers created four dummy corps, one for each faction, that characters can join in order to try out Faction Warfare, even if the character doesn't have 0.5 faction standing.

Furian, it is my understanding that the corp also has to maintain at least a .5 standing. Since corp standings are calculated using an average of member standings, bringing in members with less than the current corp standing will reduce the corp standing. If you bring in a bunch of folks with less than .5, it's possible to drop the corp standing below .5 and lose militia eligibility. This may not be a huge concern with large corps that have some buffer, but with new corps like mine, it is.
At least that's how I understand it to work.

Yeah, FW gives big faction gains, so once corps have a bit of a buffer, it won't be an issue, and then it may be a good way to get players with 0 standing (or even a bit negative) into FW.

If you are interested in a corp loyal to the Caldari State Strategic Syndicate is it. We just merged with a good group of PVPers from DQE and have a lot to offer. With the majority of our corp Caldari, our fleet strategy is for everyone to have some sort of shield logistic skills.We also ask that you have a 0.5 standing with the caldari state or higher. Our future plans are to join the Caldari militia after the next major patch. We have a great group of mature pilots who have direction, firepower, and love to have fun. This sounds interesting. So do you plan to do mining and hauling as members of the militia, or for the militia? Seems like making yourself a target would be bad for business if you intend on being a primarily industrial corp. But it also sounds like a lot of fun if you're up for a challenge I guess :)

The dev blog here says "...provided that your corporation as a whole has a faction standing of 0.5 or higher (it's an average across all non-zero standings of individual members)...".
So that means you can allow chars with 0.0 standings to join your corp and they will not drag down the corp's faction standing. Once they gain (or lose) a bit of faction standing they will start to affect the corp's standing, but it shouldn't take long for them get over 0.5 standing once they get going. Another player on Sisi told me he gained 0.26 faction standings from capturing just one enemy installation. Assuming that rate holds on TQ, a player would only have to participate in the capture of two enemy installations to get his standings over 0.5. You may therefore want to consider allowing 0.0 standings chars into your corps.

Thanks for clarifying. I did remove that restriction from my own corp earlier today after realizing the non-zero part. This is actually a good point for recruiters, because it means folks can bring alts or noob characters into FW right away through corps instead of running dozens of missions to get into a militia.

This sounds interesting. So do you plan to do mining and hauling as members of the militia, or for the militia? Just to be clear, this post is only for player corporations that are enlisted with a factional militia. The purpose is to give players the ability to directly take part in FW by joining a corp, i.e. running militia agent missions, taking faction complexes, etc.

Update: My buddy with 0.0 standings joined a faction-aligned corp. He recaptured a friendly FW plex without firing a shot (12 minutes) and gained 0.23 faction standings. He then solo-captured two enemy minor installations with a destroyer. Final standings after 60 minutes of work--exactly 0.50.
There's no reason for a corp to deny recruits entry based on their standings unless their standings are really bad, or they don't plan to capture FW installations.

Thanks for the info. I've just been telling my new recruits with low standings to make it a priority to get up to 0.5, and as you point out, it doesn't take very long to do.

Frappiato is a dutch corportation, functioning as a ad-hoc organisation. We are beginning a fresh start today and looking for new members. As freelancer and friends we help eachother to grow in there financial as game knowledge. The members together form the identity of the corp and are responsible for the path we follow.
