span style= font-size:7pt i Edited by: Gandar Kimokanen on 25/07/2005 14:43:59 /i /span br Hey, br br I m hvaing a problem with the ingame broweser when uploading the value of a textarea to the database. I m running PHP and I get this error when hitting the submit button: br br charmap codec can t encode character u \ufffd in position 52: character maps to br br That s all I get back. Nothing more. THen when I go to the page that actually shows this content, every new line ends with a questionmark ? whenviewing it ingame and a square symbol when viewing it in a regular browser. It doesn t happen when submitting the textarea out of game MSIE , only ingame. Anyway. It s weird. br br I ve changed all the variables used to store the data in the DB if my vars interfer with the EVE ones, but it didn t work either. On the page that downloads the text from the DB, I run the text through a function which runs the txt through these functions: br br $text = htmlspecialchars $text br $text = stripslashes $text br $text = nl2br $text br br I know it sounds stupid, but does the nl2br do something else when using it ingame??? br br I m also running it through a function I made myself which makes the most common BBCode into HTML. These tags are changed: br br b text /b becomes < b> text< /b> br [i]text[/b] becomes < i> text< /i> br u text /u becomes u text /u br [url=link]text becomes <a href="link">text</a> link becomes <a href="link">link</a> becomes <img src="source">
I mean. Does the IGB lay heavy weight on using XHTML? Cus I could do that. :P
Though I think it's quite weird, really.

Forgive the intrusion .. but .. is there ANY way to enforce links in say the Pilot's bio to open in a new view, and not inside the bio area itself? Just like with the normal methods in html for instance?
I'm getting severely frustrated with the comments of sites not "fitting in the browser where I clicked the linky" ^^

Edited by: Raaki on 31/07/2005 16:04:47 Hi,
Will the speed of <table> processing be fixed anytime soon?
I got several IGB projects that are painfully slow due to this bug.
Just displaying a table with items is something thats almost impossible now
Is it in the pipeline for fixing ?

Try to use <pre> instead of table.

I tried it, unfortunately the ingame browser doesn't support <PRE> for some reason.
Thanks for the tip anyway m8
I just hope they will fix these bugs soon.

You could use GD to render the table into a picture.
Very bad workaround, tbh.
Fix teh tables!

ALT pop-ups for images for some reason have fixed max width and long ALT text is broken on several lines. Also for some reason ALT text maintains spaces as entered in source, but line breaks do not. I dont have problems with these, just a fact.
Question is, for alt pop ups is there any way to format the text? I mostly need linebreaks and tabulation. The problem for me is that font in popups is not fixed width, so any formating based on N spaces fails and since text in pops also is all caps, its really hard to create readable info of any decent size.
Could any1 help me with that?

For that particula infor you dont need table. A very nice way would be
<p> Alloy name: <icon of mineral> N, <icon of mineral> M </p>
Just a thought

For me it takes a little more than that. I get two extra characters (0x9d, 0x5c) at each new line. For now, I'm working around this by doing things like:
$foo = preg_replace("/\x9d\\\\/",'',$_POST['foo']);

Edited by: Grismar on 10/08/2005 14:28:39 Text input is broken for characters that are part of markup. For instance, if you write a form that allows for text input and then shows the form again, with the input, it doesn't escape the input.
Try opening http://grismar.net/error/index.php from the IGB and entering something like 'test'. It will tell you what you entered and will show it in the inputbox again. Now try and enter something like an ampersand or a greater than symbol '<&'. It will mess up the form.
I've already wrapped the posted values in a htmlentities from my PHP, but there's no way to show an input box containing a greater than symbol, for instance. Either it messes up the surrounding HTML (the double quotes don't escape it apparently) or it shows as '>' due to the htmlentities encoding.
It's messing up my new project, http://eve.grismar.net/explorer, which I would very much like to work from the IGB...

Edited by: Grismar on 10/08/2005 14:38:21 Edited by: Grismar on 10/08/2005 14:37:43 Oh, and by the way, this may or may not be related to the bug in chat. Try saying something like "I'm an R&D specialist!". It will render in chat as "I'm an R&D;specalist!".
It didn't take long to figure out that was easily remedied by typing "I'm an R&D specialist, but that's not obvious to everyone and may yield some surprising results...
I love the possibility of typing html entities into chat btw, so don't go breaking it, unless that fixes the IGB :)
(lol, I found out this forum has a similar problem, hard to write this post like I want it...)

Edited by: Gutsani on 14/08/2005 19:47:15 I was just trying to play with the IGB a bit and i bumped on 4 things that i find uppermost irritating for developing good pages:
1) body bgcolor="#XXXXXX" does not works the way it should be, when i use #FFFFFF (white) it makes a "grey" background, if i use the bgcolor in a table it does it the way its supposed to be, is irritating to make pages with a nice bgcolor
2) background images are places verry badly, there is space between each item (ea, 15*15 has a border of 1-2 px) and also a border above the item.
3) link colors need fixing!! its irritating to develop a page if you cant set the link color to whatever you like
4) % sizes do not take the size of the parant. example: <table width="40%"> <tr> <td width="20%"> Something </td> <td width="80%"> Something else </td> </tr> </table> this example would use the whole length of the browser (20% + 80% = 100%, normally 100% of 40%)
fixing this will make it alot easyer for me to develop for the IGB, oh and fix table rendering speed even though thats not so much of an issue if you dont use nested tables. thank you!

Don't know if it has been mentioned before (haven't found it in the last few pages):
Listitems (<li></li>), which are too long for a line and get broken around repeat the last character of the previous line on the new line. This is quite hard to read in most cases and very annoying.

Today I tested patch 2.07.3564 and I felt a speed up in table rendering on my pages
Must be about 100% faster than before. Still takes a while, but hey, 100%, seriously.
Can anyone confirm that? -----

The new patch contains an improved font rendering engine for the IGB. You will notice a good speedup when rending text. Also, word wrapping now works as it should and the double text rendering in lists is gone too.
I will have a deeper look into layouting engine in September. This should speedup tables and divs. You will see the result in Kali.

for the corp logo I used
Quote: <IMG SRC=öcorplogo670513982ö SIZE=ö100ö>
This one comes up with a blank page and nothing shows and never loads. If you make it smaller like size="64" the page comes up and there is a space were the logo should be but it never shows
for the small icons I used
(anti matter m icon)
Quote: <IMG SRC=ötypeicon:230ö width=ö64ö>
this one show were the icon should be but it never shows up.
both times, you can hover over the pick and you can right lick it and it shows "reload image" but nothing reloads.

Absolutely everyone copies text for scr="showicon:123" with the ô and ö quotes which do not work. Why can't you just put normal streight quotes " the way it should be in the source anyway?

use <IMG SRC="corplogo:670513982" SIZE="128" width="100" height="100">
Corp logos can only have a size of 64 or 128 but you can rescale them with the width and height attribute. Btw, it is always a good idea to add the width and height attribute to images. This allows the IGB to render the page while the images are still loading. Otherwise it would have to wait until the image arrives to retrieve the image size.

Could you please point me to the location of the extended access rights mask doc? The current one only covers first 42 bits. I'm looking for the info on rest of them which came with the patch (Container access HQ, Container Access Based At, Container Access Other, Hangar Access HQ, Hangar Access Based At, Hangar Access Other, etc). Also a word on the size of that number just to satisfy my curiosity :) Do I need to provision for more than 64 bits or not?
Thanks!

Actually, i don't know the exact meaning of each of the newer bits. The IGB only forwards the value to the webserver. The only list i have looks like this: 'corpRoleDirector',1L 'corpRolePersonnelManager',128L 'corpRoleAccountant',256L 'corpRoleSecurityOfficer',512L 'corpRoleFactoryManager',1024L 'corpRoleStationManager',2048L 'corpRoleAuditor',4096L 'corpRoleHangarCanTake1',8192L 'corpRoleHangarCanTake2',16384L 'corpRoleHangarCanTake3',32768L 'corpRoleHangarCanTake4',65536L 'corpRoleHangarCanTake5',131072L 'corpRoleHangarCanTake6',262144L 'corpRoleHangarCanTake7',524288L 'corpRoleHangarCanQuery1',1048576L 'corpRoleHangarCanQuery2',2097152L 'corpRoleHangarCanQuery3',4194304L 'corpRoleHangarCanQuery4',8388608L 'corpRoleHangarCanQuery5',16777216L 'corpRoleHangarCanQuery6',33554432L 'corpRoleHangarCanQuery7',67108864L 'corpRoleAccountCanTake1',134217728L 'corpRoleAccountCanTake2',268435456L 'corpRoleAccountCanTake3',536870912L 'corpRoleAccountCanTake4',1073741824L 'corpRoleAccountCanTake5',2147483648L 'corpRoleAccountCanTake6',4294967296L 'corpRoleAccountCanTake7',8589934592L 'corpRoleAccountCanQuery1',17179869184L 'corpRoleAccountCanQuery2',34359738368L 'corpRoleAccountCanQuery3',68719476736L 'corpRoleAccountCanQuery4',137438953472L 'corpRoleAccountCanQuery5',274877906944L 'corpRoleAccountCanQuery6',549755813888L 'corpRoleAccountCanQuery7',1099511627776L 'corpRoleEquipmentConfig',2199023255552L 'corpRoleContainerCanTake1',4398046511104L 'corpRoleContainerCanTake2',8796093022208L 'corpRoleContainerCanTake3',17592186044416L 'corpRoleContainerCanTake4',35184372088832L 'corpRoleContainerCanTake5',70368744177664L 'corpRoleContainerCanTake6',140737488355328L 'corpRoleContainerCanTake7',281474976710656L 'corpRoleCanRentOffice',562949953421312L 'corpRoleCanRentFactorySlot',1125899906842624L 'corpRoleCanRentResearchSlot',2251799813685248L 'corpRoleJuniorAccountant',4503599627370496L 'corpRoleStarbaseConfig',9007199254740992L 'corpRoleTrader',18014398509481984L

and it is still not working. Any idea if this is going to be added in soon, or if you have another fuction for the region maps?

A question and idea...
Is there anyway to do a lookup on CorpID, or CharID other than your own? I would like to be able to utilize corp logos of ally corps without having to ask someone from each corp "uhh, can you go to my site so I can record your corpID please?". Same with building a corp roster as it would be tough to get every player in the corp to visit the page to capture their charID. I tried looking through this thread for an answer, so I apologize if I missed it.
Also for my 2 cents on the wanted feature of making ISK payments via a website. What about an EVE component that can be launched by the site using something like an EVE HTML tag <EVEPay> where you can pass attributes of amt of ISK being charged, description of charge, transaction ID, and a unique website ID (each website would need to register with CCP to get the ID). The component would launch something similar to a market purchase. The website/player/corp they are paying would be displayed from what is pre-registered to the website ID being used (to confirm to the purchaser they are paying the proper site). ISK can then be transferred to the proper account. After payment the IGB can redirect to a URL specified in the website ID registration to signal that a payment was made. It will pass along the transaction ID that the site can then verify by accessing an XML feed from CCP which will contain the transaction ID and amount paid. (XML idea came from another post I read a few pages back) The XML feed would only be returned to the site if the site passes their site ID and a password (specified in site registration). I'm sure that a number of us that would love this feature would be more than happy to assist traveler in developemnt.
