why don't you (CCP) just embed an IE control to the game? it's really easy to do. I'm not sure if you can add custom HTTP headers to the requests, tho. Have to pay license fees?
*or* you can do a quick hack for the sake of using IE's page renderer. Download the page externally, modify all the links (to relative ones) put it in a local http server (run by the game client -- to track-modify requests) and then when the IE control does the requests, add the custom headers and make the request yourself (libCurl is good-fast-easy-featureful for that kind of thing btw) All that work's way easier than coding an actual html renderer. :p

EVE uses it's own rendering machine - also for UI. There is no borked windows API in it. Hence IE renderer or controls will not work. It is also not a good idea to add such a borked rendering engine ;) - better fix the own one. :)

Is there a syntax definition for all the functions that can currently be called from the igb and a list of said functions like showinfo() ?.

I was going to ask that too, the link in the first post has no mention of this, and possibly other functions too.
On the ingame billing aspect, i.e. paying for service in isk, I think a header similar to the "trustme" one would be great.
Something like eve.payme:value::payto::paymentkey::description
Then the player has a popup appear that shows who to (payto), how much (value) and why (description), paymentkey being a freely definable key for the application to match a response.
The the responce header would include something like eve.payment=(paymentkey).yes/no, to allow the application to decide how to progress based on the "customer"'s response.
The biggest issue with this IMO though is that it's fairly easy for people to emulate the IGB and fool you into thinking that a payment was made.
To get around this, the only way I can really see making it work, is to have CCP implement some kind of clearing system, where the appliaction serve get's a key from the client, and can use this in combination with the charid (which is already available) to verify that the payment was really made:
e.g. eve.payment.(evekey)=(paymentkey).yes/no
The the application server has to verify this transfer inside of 5 minutes (will probably be instantious anyway) by connecting to an EVE server somthing like this:
http://clearing.eve-online.com/checkpayment.asp?charid=1234&payment=bla1&appid=bla2
and a simple yes/no as a response. -- Intergalactic Teeth Pullers "Only two things are infinite, the universe and human stupidity, and I'm not sure about the former." Albert Einstein |

Traveller, is it possible to add a 'evewallet:playername?amount=1234' function? This would increase commerce on sites like big lottery, donations for igb tools etc. etc.

There will be no ISK payment functions in Shiva. Hilmar already noted the security issues connected to it in one of the CSM chats. However, there is a showinfo function. I will release details later after i made sure you can only query for items that are public.
Btw, the IGB will get a nice speedup in the next patch. Scrolling should be very smooth then. This patch also includes fixes to relative file path addressing.
More improvements comming in the next days. I will also update the documentation to reflect the changes.

Edited by: Martinus Crimson on 25/08/2004 16:24:26 Might be me, but there is no bugreport function for shiva yet so i'll do it here :
Build : 2.01.2595
Bug : Complete client crash when page containing "somthing" (unable to find that out) is trying to load.
Reprocessing : Start the shiva client, press the "news" button on the right of the loginwindow. Then try to either acces the "support" link or the "links" link. And the complete client crashes.
Seems to me both those pages are PHP while the rest being ASP.
Just filled a bugreport thanks to redundancy adding the shiva option in it.

The IGB bug that I posted yesterday is also in the current Shiva branch and the planned patch level that's on entropy.
I don't think it's a browser bug, if I link everything statically it works fine. It looks like a problem in the browser cache management.
Is there a way to give you guys a bug report ID for reference ? -- Intergalactic Teeth Pullers "Only two things are infinite, the universe and human stupidity, and I'm not sure about the former." Albert Einstein |

Are these showinfo functions only going to bring up a regular ingame window or will there be associated functions to be able to intergrate that data into html pages too. So for example you would be able to create a page to compare the stats of diffrent modules in a more formatted manner.

will this include smoothing scolling for the mousewheel too? ATM in castor the scroll speed isnt constant with mouse wheel and jumps a lot like theres some sort of accleration going on. Havent checked recent shiva builds to see if its the same.

Is it possible to make the IGB display the parsing-errors ASP-pages generates? When there is an error now i only get the '500 internal server error' page..
That is the so-called 'friendly' error page, as Microsofts MSIE calls it. MSIE has the possibility to display the parsing error, such as 'missing operator in ... '. Would be handy if i could see that info igb (make it also a option as in msie to display the friendly or not friendly message?)
Why it would be nice to see the parsing error? Cause i use the http-references the igb gives to trusted sites.. that data is unavailable when i test my page in msie. -------------------------------- Agent Auto Locator for the IGB: New: http://eve.nexus-zone.com

The '500 internal server error' Error meesage is generated server side. The IGB can not do anything about it. Please check your scripts. |

I know it is created server side.. But in that page there is also a message from the server explaining what wend wrong. In the IGB i cannot view that message, with msie i can, but than all the info about the eve_headers isn't use to reproduce the error. The message what wend wrong is coded into the html, but the igb doesn't know how to handle that coded. Same for the debug-function of php. Same effect. Only getting the 500 error, not a text saying what wend wrong, because the igb cannot show it.
I can maken you a test page you can view with msie to see what i mean. -------------------------------- Agent Auto Locator for the IGB: New: http://eve.nexus-zone.com

Would be more helpful to have a link to such a page. Then we would be able to fix it.

Using build 2.01.2785
1) <OL> and <LI> tags do not stack correctly. http://www.usmc-mga.com/eve/mining.html has nestet OL LI tags at the vary begining, IE and FireFox both display the page correctly
2) The browser does not resolve links in the form /mypage.html correctly. Its should take you to http://www.rootdomain.com/mypage.html instead it takes you to /mypage.html which does not exist. Found by reading the dev blog in the IGB and clicking on the activate your account link. Unsure if ./mypage.html or ../mypage.html work correctly.
3) <h1><b> combo makes the text vary mushy - not sure if this is realted to the <h1><b> comment in the first post.
Keep up the good work the new IGB is vary nice.
