So Caracal Navy Issue wasn't really worth it when compared to the Cerberus, since cerb had an extra mount and better resists.
Now that it's getting the extra launcher mount, less some PG and superior shield recharge stats is it going to be a viable PvP option for it's price? |

It was worth it before, now you just have to waste a low slot on an RCU. |

Yes.
It's a good matchup to a Cerb, in that there's reasons to fly either. In my book, that makes it a very good ship. |

The only thing it had going for it was that it had better PG then the cerb. Now CCP have F***ed that all up. Thanks for nothing |

OK, so now go compare stats on the two ships.
6 Launchers goes a long way to evening up the relative firepower. The extra rig slot, better mass/agility, are also making me wonder if I still want to be flying a Cerberus. -- Crane needs more grid 249km locking? |

This qualifies it as a "bait and switch" nerf IMO. You get something extra which seems really nice, but they take away just enough of something else to make the bonus useless.
Give it some time to see what people come up with, but reducing the PG could be CCP's way of pushing people TO the Cerb instead of the Navy C. |

Edited by: FT Diomedes on 10/06/2008 22:17:18 My setup still fits - and it's even nicer now. Then again, it's a PvE fit.
6x Arbalest HMLs
2x LSE II 2x Rat Specific Shield Resistance Amplifiers 1x Invuln II
3x SPR II 1x BCU II
3x Core Defense Field Purgers
PS - and the best part - thanks to the extra CPU I can fit another BCU if I want more firepower. |

I was thinking along those lines, but regarding a PvP fit I was more thinking of a speed-tanked Heavy Missile kite, specifically for FW really.
If CCP meant this is a "bait and switch" nerf, it failed with me since it's got me actually interested in the ship now.

I don't mind the changes except for the skill requirement went up to caldari cruiser IV for some reason. So my alt has to train another 10 days on a ship she was already flying so she can undock again....when the other racial navy cruisers seemed to have unchanged skill requirements

I had purchased one for a decent HAM fit, and then the PG got nerfed. I suppose if you want to use Heavies it'd be nice with the extra launcher.
Worth it for a pretty PvE faction boat to be different in, unsure on PvP compared to a Cerb. |

EFT warrioring ftl I know, but i figure Heavy Missiles and HAMS do the same DPS (with max skills in both), and caracals are renown for being paper-thin, so using heavies allows for a better fit tank, and if it's so paper thin what better tank than a speed tank? |

Your figures are out of whack then . HAMs will get you a 20-25% damage increase over HMLs but at 1/3rd of the range (25-30km on the Caracal I think).
If grid is an issue use an extra PDU or maybe even a RCU. With the extra CPU it should be possible to get some truly nasty damage out of this using multiple damage mods, something the old version had problems fitting.
The decrease in shield recharge time makes the extended/hardened basic tank even better. Just remember the Caracal is a damage platform and is not meant for actual tanking .. sitting at 30km+ and pumping a continuous 3-400dps into a target has its merits. |

On my invention alt? Yes it does.
Boost patch...nerfs: 1) faction passive shield resistance amplifiers, 2) exploration radar sites, 3) faction co-processors |

Urrrr! Yeah, on the heavy launcher setup I had Kinetic missiles, but on the HAM setup i had EM missiles (don't get dmg bonus).
Still, I wouldn't mind having a look at a kiting setup. Will see,, |
