I find this act of negative discrimination to be distasteful.
U.S. citizens are charged 14.95 USD for the same service i pay 14.95 EUR for.
Maybe you havent seen the news, but 14.95 U.S. dollars = 9.63583629 Euros
Don't like it, then why not just buy the game time cards in the US? Here is the link to a seller of GTC: Shattered Crystal
On a side note, I would like to take the time to say that Capitalism is better than Socialism which means that the US is better than all of EU.

So you have to pay a bit more for EVE in Europe. My regrets.
Here in the US, however, we have our own problems. Our currency is dropping, people are whining about how it's becoming too expensive to drive their Hummer, two thirds of the population thinks that the Earth was created 6000 years ago, and we are graced with politicians who seem to think that suggesting the implementation of universal health care is actually a ritual to resurrect Joseph Stalin.

hahahahha, lets put it this way, I dont know you and I don't care if you have healthcare. I seriously doubt anyone out there has ever really thought or cared if I did or not. Lets not forget the other leeches we already have feeding off of the system. The unchecked flow of illegal immigrants, the reduced wages for Americans trying to compete with neo-slavery "workers". Gotta love the politicians that suggest that its a good thing by throwing a blind eye to it or outright pandering to the neoslaves.
Also how do people that whine about government spending plan to cut back on such spending when they wish to spend more money on a system that we DON'T need? Also what ever happened to CAPITALISM? The people crying for healthcare are targeting the wrong group. If the companies that provided healthcare were constantly nagged about it being to expensive they would come out with some cheap plans for those that can't afford all the bells and whistles. Much like car companies making low priced cars but still making $ off of their luxury or sports cars and suvs. Maybe the government should give out free cars to those that can't afford them???
Then again the "king of green" is eating up 20times the amount of energy of a normal U.S. household, per day and flying around in his personal, fuel guzzling ,polluting jet to take him to pick up his nobel peace prize.
Then we got these idiots that have no beliefs that think that they can push around those that have beliefs ,under the Constitution. cause lets face it there was NEVER anything about the freedom to practice any faith that a person decides to go with, in any important document of our nation.
Then theres the whiners that think we need to be green and energy independant and that we can magically do it all right now ,this instant without an actual plan or any kind of bridge between here(reality) and there(when we can actual run cars on air). Save the polar bears, whine about the gas prices, cry about the economy and blame anyone that isn't a democrat even though they have had their hand in whats going on without a doubt.
as for those driving hummers, im sure that a large percent are the very people that are whining about gas prices and blaming the current administration for every thing, all while suggesting everyone go "green".
Easiest way to fix all the problems here would to vote for me as President. certain people would be rounded up for treason and cleansed. hippies will find extra ingredients in their weed and the scourge shall dissapear, that or ill have people actually drop liquid soap on them and hose them down.
also its not the number of bombs you drop, its where you drop them....who you drop em on and what kind of bomb your using in the first place

I would think this would be a much bigger deal to you seeing as it's off by a factor of 3 or so and probably costs you quite a bit more cash than eve, maybe you should start a blog about that.
Also, currency values change every day, changing the prices constantly to reflect them would just annoy customers and cause confusion. Yes, the euro is probably worth a bit more fluctuations aside, but it's not as big a difference as it shows now, the US is in an election year economy slump that seems to happen like clockwork every 4 years.

So bottom line: they think they can get it out of you so they charge it.
American players are used to MMOs being $15. If you start going over that we are going to start reconsidering our subscriptions.
Just like the soda example, over here if a place nickles and dimes us to death and we find another that doesn't do that, we are going to the new place. If we can get a free refill we are going to think favorably of that place then the one that wants to charge us again. Lets face it, its highly unlikely that my stay in EVE is costing $14 ccp a month and they are only making $1 profit.
If ccp only made $1 profit per month per American player then they would need to figure a way to lower their costs. If they jack up their prices they are without a doubt going to lose subscribers over here. Add in the recent BSG ads that are going to lure new players from the U.S. to sub,it would be a really bad move to jack prices up for us.
As for the euro players, it might be conversion rates. It might be that CCP just hates you. The real question is how much of the adjustment is based on actual economics and how much of it is because "we can". By "we can" i mean that euro players arent going to raise hell about it and start leaving the game.
Last time some euro tried taxing us over here we raised hell about it,tossed their precious tea into the drink for the effort. Not to forget all the RL pewpew that came after that. Over here companies can die real fast when their reputation gets soiled by trying to screw over customers. Someone over here always comes out of nowhere to offer the same goods/services at a better price.
I'm in no way against CCP making money for their efforts. If i were them I would want to make as much $ as possible. The thing is finding the right balance where your happy and the customers are happy. Companies need to look at ways to expand their customer base and lowering their operational costs before raising prices in order to increase profits. If they can do that without sacrificing the quality of their product then they are golden.
Something the euros that are complaining should think about is how much do other mmos charge you? Is CCP keeping the price of eve in line with the price of other mmos over there? Is eve considered "cheap" before the adjustment or was it in line? If it was considered "cheap" then the adjustment is just moving in line with the industry norm. a product that is seen as "cheap" might be seen as poorly designed ,thus lower quality and that can tarnish the reputation of a good company. So the move might just be made to reduce that effect. Some times nubs assume that the market price = level of quality.

What fantasy land are you living in? CCP is a company. Company's charge their consumers as much as they can get away with. They are charging Europeans the going market-rate for MMO subscriptions.
What CCP would like to do is increase the subscription cost in the US. The US dollar has been decreasing in value, therefore CCP has been making less off the US subscriptions then they did in the past. However, they know they cannot increase the amount they charge people in the US because it would exceed the going market-rate for MMOs in the US and drive away subscribers. It's the same reason Nintendo has been shipping more Wiis and Wii Fits to Europe then the US, because now they make less off the sales in the US because the US dollar is worth less.
CCP is not going to give Europeans a discount because another country's currency devalues. That's just f-ing ********.
Also, you are vastly oversimplifying the issue. Americans earn their salaries in US dollars and Europeans earn their salaries in Euros. EVERYTHING in the US is cheaper if you are using Euros to buy it. But Americans are not using Euros, they are using US dollars. If Americans could somehow earn their salary in Euros (which the vast majority don't) and then pay for their accounts in the US dollars, that would be an advantage. But that's not how it works. ----------------------------------------------------

By that logic the Pound shouldn't be stronger than the Euro.
I suggest that CCP hire someone to adjust the price every day based on the monetary changes. That sounds like a great idea.

Okay, so if i live in a country, where the average salary is 120000 HUF, thats about 790 USD or 507 EUR.
Based on the above logic, i should get the game for 3.76 EUR, as proportionally thats the same as what americans pay compared to their average salaries.
As for the rest of you trolls: glad to see theres so many people with so much free time on their hands. I envy you really. Obviously you are paying in USD in some way or the other, either cuz you are living in the U.S. or you managed to use one of the methods with which you can trick CCP's billing system to believe you are living in the US.

Somehow online shops manage to get around this every day.. i wonder how that might be.. oh yea, they charge you in one currency, and your bank converts it to your currency. That way they do not have to worry about changing their prices based on exchange rates, and ironically enough they do not have to worry about customers moaning about their stuff costing twice as much in one currency as it would cost in another.

This is correct. Get all of CCP's US competitors to raise their US prices, or lower their EU prices, and CCP will follow suit. However, if CCP were to raise US prices fact is, they would alienate their US market, and would lose a significant portion of their market share to their competitors. On the other hand, if CCP were to lower EU prices, would they gain any market share at all? You are dealing with a corporation here. Their *ONLY* concern is profit. The customer is only a means to an end. If they stand to make more money by alienating a portion of their customers, they will do that.

Uhhhhhhh... IIRC, the "official" complaint wasn't taxes. It was taxation without representation. Several of my old high school teachers also said something about the taxation of middlemen was doing something screwy with the price of tea, and was making the smuggling of "illegal" tea less profitable, and that was also a major cause of the Boston Tea Party.

Perhaps it's because the US Market is larger than the Euro Market?
Perhaps CCP has higher prices in Europe to cover the costs in incurs providing it's services to you?
If you have more of something, then you can charge a lower price to recover your losses and make a profit. However, if you reduce the quantity, the price you much charge to recover your losses and make a profit increases.
Economics, it's not that hard.
According to what resources I was able to find, and excluding the United Kingdom, the remainder of Europe holds 23.89% of the subscriber base, whereas the United States holds 37.06%
23.89% is 64.46% of 37.06%
and
if you add 64.4% to the price (as it would be in Euros, equally coverted ) of Ç9.63 you end up with Ç16.33.
It's not far off, based upon the demographics. If my thoughts are correct, I would stop whinning as they could be charging you more. Corporate Owned Stargates

European taxes are higher for now. However in order to meet projected growth of its many entitlement programs the United States will have to double to triple its taxes in the next 40 years (and this is without the proposed National Health Care the current presidential candidates are talking about).

I also find it questionable why I should have to pay nearly 30% more (incl. VAT) for the same service.
I used to be able to pay in USD but that was changed at some point in time. I wish CCP would simply give me this option back since neither Euro not Dollars are my local currency (so I have to pay money to the CC company either way for the exchange) and then I at least could chose which currency I want.
If CCP is not ripping us EU-customers off then there is no good reason not to allow EU people to pay in dollars. If they are ripping us off then ofc they won't want to give us that option so we have to continue to fork out more then the US guys.
