How can they name it Diablo III when he died in the second one?
I mean, his soulstone was destroyed and everything... It will be interesting to see how they will explain his yet another resurrection.

It was just a dream....
ala JR, shower scene.
English doesn't borrow from other languages. It follows them down dark alleys, coshes 'em, and rummages in their pockets for loose bits of grammar. |

Wow, I have a friend that works for Blizzard and he didn't tell me about this.
(Although I never got into Diablo, I was really young and just never got into it)
All he does is tell me how awesome StarCraft II is (Can't wait for that)
But this is something I definitely am looking forward to

Fast combat and character animation: check.
Dozens of mobs on screen: check.
Fun-looking powers: check.
Feeling of crushing enemies left, right and center without breaking a sweat: check.
Random-generated levels: check.
Hard to judge from just one cinematic, but it does look like Diablo 3 will succeed where it's handfull of competitors failed, and be a worthy successor of Diablo 2.

My predictions a few months ago came to fruition. Friggan Sweet. To those that were to young, Diablo and Diablo II were the greatest hack-en-slash games since Gauntlet paved the way.

It could be that they are going to revisit the whole storyline in MMO style maybe.

Edited by: Ashira Twilight on 28/06/2008 13:21:41 I would also like to point out that the original Diablo was part of the reason for the internet boom. It's contribution wasn't as big as Quake, but it was still part of the equation. Of course, both were dwarfed by pron but meh.

I appear to be spamming the thread, so I'll add this tidbit into this post.
They better have paladin as a class, go go Zeal + Fanaticism! Poor necromancer seems to have been replaced. Sad face. |

I will agree with this at this point since it just says Multiplayer in the description.
It would probably be hard to make that story line work in an MMO. But then again EVE is only my second MMO ever. Other then that I played Wolfenstein, DOOM, and the Diablo series. So I can not wait for this....I friggan hope that they friggan buff the assasin.

From what I understood in the story, destroying his soulstone didn't kill him, it just banished him back to the lower depths of hell and prevents him from manifesting himself outside of there (same with his brothers).
So if he gets a new soulstone he's free to move about again.
It'll be interesting to see how Blizzard handles the franchise. Personally I disappointed with Warcraft III (with it's focus on single super-units with a supporting army), and with WoW starting to face some real competition they try to turn it into another MMO (hopefully one much less carebear but MMO nonetheless).
We'll see though. |

That's the silliest thing I've ever heard. The internet boom was due to the internet being opened up to commercial access and graphical web browsing. Napster and **** far outweighed any game's influence on the popularity of the internet.
