Feeling of crushing enemies left, right and center without breaking a sweat: check. Random-generated levels: check. Hard to judge from just one cinematic, but it does look like Diablo 3 will succeed where it's handfull of competitors failed, and be a worthy successor of Diablo 2. NEEED!!!!!

It's contribution wasn't as big as Quake, but it was still part of the equation. Of course, both were dwarfed by pron but meh. edit I appear to be spamming the thread, so I'll add this tidbit into this post. They better have paladin as a class, go go Zeal + Fanaticism! Poor necromancer seems to have been replaced. Sad face.

From what I understood in the story, destroying his soulstone didn't kill him, it just banished him back to the lower depths of hell and prevents him from manifesting himself outside of there (same with his brothers). So if he gets a new soulstone he's free to move about again. It'll be interesting to see how Blizzard handles the franchise. Personally I disappointed with Warcraft III (with it's focus on single super-units with a supporting army), and with WoW starting to face some real competition they try to turn it into another MMO (hopefully one much less carebear but MMO nonetheless). We'll see though.

The internet boom was due to the internet being opened up to commercial access and graphical web browsing. Napster and **** far outweighed any game's influence on the popularity of the internet.

I'm glad that they managed to maintain the gritty, gothic, dark fantasy style of Diablo instead of going all cartoonish like they have with the last couple of games. The Witchdoctor looks quite fun too.

Anywho the amazon and sorc and paladin classes probably wont be called the same names. For reality reasons u cant have a male sorc or male amazon. Amazon will prolly be rogue and sorc will be called mage. Paladin can have male/females in them. Either way there will be a close range physical and long range physical dps class. close and long range magic dps class then a class with both physical and magic. Then they will have d3 expansion with 2 new classes. Then blizzard will be really sleeping in gold, jerkin off on supermodels with big fake breats paid to be with their nerdy butts. And we will be in our mothers basements drooling on the screen playing Diablo 3. Playing for 15 hours a day with another 3 hours to eat, ****, drink and maybe shower then rest can be for sleeping. And when our friends come up to the doorstep n bother u to exit the house u will grab ur shotgun n yell at them like a 60 year old skitofrenzic....who was touched.

There's already the barbarian for melee, and the only thing a paladin would add is auras or something similar, something a barbarian can do with battleshouts maybe? Same thing for the sorcerer. The witch doctor already covers some bases that a sorcerer might, he blurs the line between sorceress and necromancer. I think that these classes will actually be released as something almost completely different, more along the lines of the witch doctor than something we already know, although a rogue/amazon is almost a certainty. It's not only that. I don't usually like these kind of games because they're not deep enough. Diablo 2 was the exception: Characters were so customizable skills-wise, there was thousands of possible strategies and builds. Items were endless, and very original, not the usual +3 str +2 agi crap, but items with true personality. (For example, a fire sword would give you the ability to shoot fireballs regardless of your class, make you able to absorb fire damage, etc). And we have runewords. Ooooh the runewords. The soulstones were artifical limits put on the Prime Evils by the Horadrim to stop them manifesting at will. this partly failed, since they could still take control of other peoples bodies, and use them to manifest. Recognising that the whole soulstone thing isn't working, Tyrael gets you to destroy the soulstones. Theres no real reason to assume this would kill them permanently. /geek mode off I don't care how much I fear a***** up on this game, I'M BUYING IT OH SO FAST.

I do hope they kept to the whole concept of Diablo 1 and 2 that no game would ever be the same with random spawns and random map generation ect, tbh after looking at the gameplay trailer especially for the outdoor area and the fact the dev narrating it seemed to know alot about what was coming up it feels like they might have done away with random maps.

Nah, I'd bet that the Necro is dropped, seeing as the Witch Doctor seems to have exactly the same specialities (poisons + undead). Shame (loved the Necro), but probably true, and no big tragedy. You've also got to bear in mind there are no "classic" Diablo classes- there have only been two games, and they both had entirely different classes. Plenty of people ***ed when D2 was released about the lack of a proper Rogue, but it didn't stop them switching it for the Amazon. They've already got the Barbarian and their Summoner in, so we can expect to see a main magic user and a ranged fighter in if nothing else, with probably a team-buff class (a la the Paladin) to join them.
