|I'm new to the Diablo franchise, but that gameplay vid was awesome, looks alot like Baldr's Gate; Dark Alliance 2, though that gameplay vid makes it look like a huge graphical jump from D2-D3
Will certainly consider purchasing.

It's not only that.
I don't usually like these kind of games because they're not deep enough. Diablo 2 was the exception: Characters were so customizable skills-wise, there was thousands of possible strategies and builds.
Items were endless, and very original, not the usual +3 str +2 agi crap, but items with true personality. (For example, a fire sword would give you the ability to shoot fireballs regardless of your class, make you able to absorb fire damage, etc).
And we have runewords. Ooooh the runewords.
Diablo 2 was simply great, and 3 couldn't look better.

IT certainly does look alot deeper, no doubt, the graphics look awesome (Though thats probably been played on a mini-super comp) the UI looks fresh and minimalistic.
Defintly going to look at more thoroughly when more details are avaliable. |

Nah, I don't agree. The soulstones were artifical limits put on the Prime Evils by the Horadrim to stop them manifesting at will. this partly failed, since they could still take control of other peoples bodies, and use them to manifest. Recognising that the whole soulstone thing isn't working, Tyrael gets you to destroy the soulstones. Theres no real reason to assume this would kill them permanently.

Watching the gameplay trailers tells me that they're not holding back too much on the gore. Liberal splashings of red stuff, with plenty of squishy, crunchy, screamy sound effects. True its not all that graphic, but the graphics engine isn't likely to be completely finished at this point- I'm hoping the lack of detail is just a symptom of it's incompleteness.

While it looks great and seems to look like it has the diablo feel to it ect. I do hope they kept to the whole concept of Diablo 1 and 2 that no game would ever be the same with random spawns and random map generation ect, tbh after looking at the gameplay trailer especially for the outdoor area and the fact the dev narrating it seemed to know alot about what was coming up it feels like they might have done away with random maps.

you can't expect any randomness in a controlled demonstration trailer. it could've even been an area specifically created for demonstration purposes.

Actually be glad they are making money off WoW. How much of D3s current budget is coming from WoW do you think? My guess, all of it.
(the game has been in development for 4 years already, so not all of it is from WoW probably, but they don't have to worry about the budget as such.)
Its their ultimate cashcow, they can make every game they ever wanted and still have more money left than they honestly know what do with, its the dream of every developer. |

i'd guess they'll keep some classic characters like elemental sorc, pala, nec, ama. druid and assassin could get sacked though and replaced by witchdoctor and whatever else they have, those are mixed classes anyway and not really unique when it comes to playing style.
