Hello,
my second account was inactive for few weeks and after I reactivated it, I started to get very low FPS and overall system performance. Before the pause, the two clients were working just fine with decent FPS. Both clients run premium and in windowed mode. One client alone runs around 100+ fps and when i start up the second client the fps of both clients drop to 10-11 fps. I also tried with uninstalling the optional patch but that didn't help. I haven't changed my video or any drivers in the mean time so I don't think the problem is related to that.
Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 3,2GHz Nvidia Geforce 8800GTS 512mb 4gb DDR2-800 Windows Vista Business 64bit SP1
Any ideas what might be the problem? Thanks |

I'm currently having the same problems, my spec is alot lower than yours but up untill the lastest patch i could run two clients @ 40 fps now i'm getting less than 6 fps running two clients. I've turned off cache and tried various tweaks but to no avail.
I've installed the new patch too.

If you are running on 2 monitors you need to set your second account to run on the second monitor, or framerates will suck, can be done ingame in the eve graphics tab |

That's not the case. It was working perfectly few weeks ago and now it's not just a bit slower but it's probably totally unplayable with two clients at the same time.

Edited by: Jojo Redana on 01/07/2008 12:14:28 I had same problem couple of weeks ago. Launched another client and both clients were lagging very badly.
Are you running both clients from same folder and same exe-file? I made a copy of my Eve-folder and i'm running my second account from the copy. My problems were fixed.
I also had to turn off the sounds from that second client because my comp crashed frequently.

I run the clients from separate folders. I might have solved the problem with disabling sound in both clients but I haven't tested it much. The fps meter is still pretty unstable even in stations and without moving the camera.

Nope, turning off sound didn't fix it. Running two clients with 9 fps at the moment.

can you please check the cache size and set it to high?
With the patch this week we added this fix:
Originally by: Patch Notes The Cache Size option in the ESC menu would always be set to High, no matter what value was selected/displayed, this has now been fixed. Note: Changing the Cache Size in the ESC menu to Low should reduce memory usage at the cost of possible longer loading times. Released 25 June 2008.
which was already released as a optional patch.
I hope we can figure out what the issue is. __________________________ CCP Sputnik CCP Quality Assurance QA Engineering Software Engineer

Ok, I set Cache Size in both clients to High. It worked normally at that time. Then I closed one client and started it later which took the fps down again. Both are running at around 18-19 fps right now. Closed one client and fps hopped to 140 again.

Also, it doesn't always hop back to 100+ immediately after closing one client. I had one client running at 100+ fps and opened the other then the fps dropped for both clients to about 20. Then I closed the client which had 100+ fps in the beginning and the other client is still running at around 20 fps.

Same issue here as well. Today was the first time I have run 2 clients since 6/28 and my FPS was pathetic, normally between 85 and 120 FPS, both dropped to under 20. Both are run in window mode.
Never had this problem before; I have turned settings off and dialed them down, no change...normally I can run both clients with high settings. The game is running from 2 seperate drives and no changes have been made to my system, no problems with anything else web related on any scale.

Found a new interesting thing today. I was in station. When I zoomed the camera in, the FPS dropped to 17. When I zoomed all the way out, the FPS hopped to 300 or even 600 for a second and then steady 170. Something's very messed up with EVE and/or the cache/memory stuff. It's definately not my system, cause even when I have two EVE clients running with that 15-17 FPS I can play whatever high-end game at the same time with no problem (Bioshock, Crysis, etc). || Gigabyte GA-P35C-DS3R | Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 @ 3.2GHz | 4x1GB A-Data EXTREME DDR2 800+ | BFG GeForce 8800GTS 512MB | WDC 500GB SATA-II | Windows Vista Business x64 SP1 | FSP BlueStorm II 500W || |

Didnt have that much trouble before, but after patch I can hardly run 2 clients at the same time. 1 client I get about 40-50 fps 2 clients I get 1-4 fps each.

Any of you running third party software firewalls ? got vista 64 home premium, transferred the licence from the xp machine to this one and watched the frame rate drop from 150 to 30 or so, dumped it and went ok.
Using windoze firewall and netgear router, no hassles so far
maybe try classic clients when running 2 clients ?
Run eve from the same client, ie not 2 separate copies of the folder

This is my system:
AMD x2 2,1ghz @ 3097mhz MSI K9A2 Platinum 4GB PC8500 HD3870 512mb
When i start eve i can run account without a problem and start a second client aswell. But if i run my first account stand alone for a few hours then start my second client i get heavy lag/FPS drop, then what I have to do is start both my clients simultaneously. Except for that I run both with Premium and pretty much max settings @ 1280 x 1024 without any problems at all. Somebody set up us the bomb |

Ive tried running with/without my firewall ( bullguard ), classic/premium client only think I havent tried is running Eve from 2 seperate folders, Ive always run from the same folder. But when I get the time/space etc Ill reinstall windows all over again and see if that helps. I run spybot/antivirus once each week just to be on the safe side. So after the 1st I should have reinstalled windows/Eve again to see if that helped.

Edited by: desintox on 10/07/2008 20:34:40 And also the same problem here..
I start the 1st client (running on D: drive): I get about 100 FPS on this client I start the 2nd client (running on E: drive): both clients drop to about 70 FPS (wich is still fine)
If I stay docked with both characters then I will always have around 70 FPS I can undock, do a mission, pvp, mine, whatever.. but once I dock again in the station the FPS on both clients drop to 20-30 FPS. When I close 1 client the FPS on the other client will just stay at 20-30 FPS, unless I close that client too and restart it.
As far as I know it doesn't affect me when I am jumping into different systems, only when I dock in the station the FPS drop occurs. I hope this can help you guys to fix the problem.. it's getting very very annoying...

Been toying around a little, and seems the problem really is showing itself when I run into AE or GE mission, the fps will stay stable for the first 1-2 rooms and then drop to 3-7 fps on both clients. Reboot machine start up and the fps will be okay again for 1-2 rooms, rince and repeat.

Still waiting for CCP's reply to this topic. Few days ago I had this fps dropping issue with even one client. We dropped a cap on some farmers. There were about 10 people in system. My fps dropped to about 20. I relogged and the fps was back to 100. Dont know if this will help you, but make sure that each of your clients has the sound set to off - also make sure eve voice is disabled for each client.
Otherwise the classic disabling trails/sun occluded by ships, running each instance in windowed mode, turret effects turned off... yadda yadda.

All audio is disabled, graphic settings lowered, cache size set to low... Now both clients are running at 23 fps, instead of 70-80 fps.

For people with dual/quad cores, split the two clients between affinities!
use one (or two) per game client, that should fix the problems.
