Ok I'm still new to the game and don't know roids respawning habbits that well, but usually they come back after downtime and some seem to come back randomly duting server ontime, but over the last few days there seems to be less and less roids coming back, a few systems I go mine have no omber left at all, and I stipped 24k of a belt in renynt he other day and nothing has respawned back there either.
anyone else notice anything unusual?

I've noticed the same thing and was having the same concerns. Since the 'changes' last week or whatever they did there seems to be no respawn. |

On Sunday evening I mined a couple of crokite roids down to just over 1000 units remaining. Checked them again after downtime on the Monday and they both still had exactly the same ore remaining. Checked them again today after downtime and they are still sitting at exactly the same size, just over 1000 units remaining.
I thought that if you left some ore in them and didn't pop them, they would start to slowly regrow. Anyone know what sort of time frame we are talking about for regrowth?

I've also noticed this, some really big gaps in what were once large belts. Maybe a ruse to make the ore/minerals markets more lucrative? |

the system that my corp used to hang out in "several weeks ago" was pretty striped thanks to a big corp operation and the fact it only had 4 belts. there are only a few people the go to that system now and its still stripped. i get up there about 1-2 a day and usually stop in the belts for a little npc snack, never see anyone mine but i dont see anything new to mine either. i sorta wonder if this is some way to clear out the roid fields for the "shiva" system wide fields. _______________________________________________

Only a few of us mine, but those that do have cans setup for corp use. I went to one yesterday and noticed that the belts were not only VERY tiny, they were completely devoid of the best ore there (Omber in this case, still Veld, Plag & Scor). I figured a megacorp hoovered through, but maybe something else...?

Since the hardware upgrades of last week i have yet to see an omber rock respawn in my usual mining systems, areas which have never been omber free since i started mining there over a month ago. There definately seems to be a slowdown of the respawn.

Yes they should respawn i ahve made same test long ago and a 500 unit crockite grew after dt to 667.

Sometime ago a patch changed respawn behaviour. From there on roids stopped respawning right after dt and instead made the respawn rate more random over time. This to prevent the europeans to clean up before us could log on
Then the issue of ore type respawn. Belts can olny hold a fixed quantity of ore. What happens usualy is ppl stripping belts of the highest ore and neglect the lower ones. The ignored ore can keep on growing and eventualy will hold the full quantity of ore available for that particular belt.
I have comfirmed reports that when mining the bigger Veld roids, smaller high ore will/can respawn. Another thing to keep in mind is to let at least 1 of the high end ore rocks untouched, this will facilitate respawning of this ore type.

I've been mining Omber in a particular system, then haven't been mining there for a week or so. When I got back to the belts all Omber was gone and it hasn't been respawning at all.

Correct, after last extended downtime, roids are not respawning at all. The system I mine in, with over 10 asteroid fields are almost stripped for any higher ore now.

Many sectors are NOT respawning. This problem began last week on wednesday after the hardware upgrade. A few sectors have had a respawn, but it's small and very sporadic. many sectors are being stripped, even of veldspar/scordite/pyroxeres/plagioclase and even they are not respawning. This is a genuine problem and needs to be addressed soon, otherwise this game will lose new and lower lvl players. How can they make money? How can they mine in sectors designed for high lvl players? They don't have the skills, ships, shields or weaponry required to survive. Granted this is to the advantage of high lvl players, as the market prices increase for minerals that now only they can mine, minerals that are normally refined from omber and kernite. This will create an imbalance and make the game.. undesirable.

doubtful as its happening in most of the systems I goto, although it seems to be getting better, I don't think much omber/jaspet is respawning though.

Edited by: Scorpyn on 20/05/2004 15:48:21 Since I'm not a miner, I should probably not make a comment here, but I feel like I have to somehow...
Theory 1 : As far as I understand it, the security status changes made some low sec systems with good ore turn into 0.5. In 0.5, there is not supposed to be that much of good ore (this is what I believe, not based on any fact whatsoever). When the ore in those systems is gone, it will not respawn because the system is not supposed to have that kind of ore. This does not appear to explain why 0.0 ore is not returning, if we don't take into account the fact that 0.0 is also divided into "invisible" security zones - some areas are in fact -1, but it will show up as 0 because that's how it look in the eyes of concord. If you hunt npc:s, you will see the difference by how difficult the spawns are.
Theory 2 : Everything respawns in the unreachable 0.0 areas (jove + whatever the other big area is).
Theory 3 : CCP wants ppl to explore and move around more or something.
Theory 4 : Something is broken in the code
Theory 5 : Someone hacked the game servers and made all high end ore respawn in his home system, where he is happily afk-mining in an Iteron Mark V with a lot of nice expanders.
Theory 6 : The amount of low-end ore makes it impossible for high-end ore to regrow. Solution : Eat veldspar.
