Problem is still on-going (see pingpotter image for last night http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v488/WTM/Internet%20pictures/15April2012-015506.png )
Battleping is not a solution for me, as I would need to sign up at least 2-3 times due to both my wife and I playing, and the use of multiple machines within our house.
So, it seems that this really may be outside of CCPs control (3rd party infrastructure provider), so I have tracked them down, and am attempting to engage with them via twitter.
Anyone else wishing to "communicate" with them... http://www.level3.com/ and @Level3 on twitter.
Hopefully this gets us some action, if not then I guess I need to tidy up in eve as our 7 accounts cancel out. |

Apparently CCP worked with Global Crossing to resolve things last time this happened, in 2010. I'm hopeful they'll be able to put things right again. As others have said, we shouldn't have to use BattlePing just to get baseline service.
In the meantime, for me it's BattlePing in-game (5 days left in my free trial) and Tweeting at CCP and Level 3 out-of-game.

Getting frequent disconnects - data just stops moving - i used crtl+alt+shift+m monitor and it all just goes to - with 2-3 outstanding packets. At the same time eveonline.com website stops responding. Then i crash out . When I reconnect sometimes the launcher or the login screen says it can't connect/get server status. Issue clears itself up in around 1 minute or so.
Everything else (voice comms, web browsing, other network connectivity) works perfectly fine during these network issue with eve.

So many dropouts today ... rapidly approaching ragequit.
What is the point of an "Issues" forum if CCP is largely deaf to the issues?
Is there a better way to raise this problem? |

Yup - I'm having the same problem and so are many fellow Australian's in our corp.
Have been away since Thursday - first login in ages about an hour ago (Sunday night) and the eve client is disconnecting 2-3 times an hour - rest of my internet is stable/fine.
I'm with Iprimus, but the dudes in my corp are an even spread between all the aussie ISPs. |

Another Downtime and more crashes as soon as i turn battleping off.
Kinda getting a bit over this now.
I will be letting the first 3 accounts lapse in the next week or so and won't reactivate them until this is fixed, kinda pointless wasting either $$ or isk for something that is broken.

Some times only 1 client get's dc'd but most time it's both clients.
As you can imagine, it's getting a tad annoying. |

Noticed a huge hole in my pingplotter graphs from some time this afternoon (my time). Refreshed and restarted the trace....
the IP route has changed...

CCP, can't you just handle intermittent packet loss better?
If the connection dies, try and re-establish it for a second or two before killing the client? Lock the interface, put a "Connection Issue" message across the screen in big red letters and try and handle this situation a bit more gracefully?
Pinning it down to a specific ISP is a good short term measure, but EVE doesnt handle connections with hiccups very well at all. |

Yup, ditto here... last hops all the same for me given another routing change... pings all 2000-3000ms (from 300-350ms this morning on the old route), makes even PvE utterly frustrating.
Good news is though that the first of my accounts comes up for renewal next Sunday, so at least I won't be bleeding any more money from next week! :) |

Also, if you haven't already, please post your PingPlotter or traceroute if you're a) in Australia and with an ISP other than iiNet or b) not in Australia.
I've had a Tweet from @Erlendur, software director at CCP, that they're aware of this thread, and "players experiencing this appear to be from Australia and mention iiNet as their ISP". While there do seem to be a lot of Australian iiNet customers in this thread, looking at all of the posts I don't think everyone experiencing this problem is from Australia or uses iiNet if they are are... |

I've had a Tweet from @Erlendur, software director at CCP, that they're aware of this thread and "players experiencing this appear to be from Australia and mention iiNet as their ISP". While there do seem to be a lot of Australian iiNet customers in this thread, looking at all of the posts I don't think everyone experiencing this problem is from Australia or uses iiNet if they are...
Most definitely not just iiNet by the looks of it. I've seen mention of dodo and Telstra in this thread already just from memory. iiNet is big enough that they have mostly different infrastructure from Telstra, so the common points in the route here all seem to be once it goes off shore from the land down under... dunno, maybe the packets get turned upside down or something to correct for the northern hemisphere ;) |

As mentioned above, I am Telstra Bigpond (not iiNet, and before you say anything I live in the bush so it's the only provider out there for me).
Still getting large pings at reach.com--logging in one toon to get them safe and then no playing for me!

Actually it's New Zealand as well, not just Australia...
In my case I'm with Actrix, but they are I believe a reseller for Telecom NZ's product. |

Oh something seems to have changed on the pipe to CCP. Maybe reach.com fixed something up?

Logging in now to check playability, but this latency seems normal from Australia.

I assume you are on ADSL if thats the case than you can go with any provider you wish to. there are compitition laws that ensure this is the case. you are miss informed. just FYI incase you actualy want to change.
note: It apears internode customes are not getting the issue, they were recently bought by iinet perhaps iinet should start using internode routes to help afected users get around the problem. |

Played last night and today with no discos *knocks on wood*. Route seems to be back through Global Crossing but apparently they've changed the hampster, hopefully last another couple years
So far so good... I'll hold off for a thanks to CCP for another couple few days. |

Same here -- fired up the client without using BattlePing and so far no disconnections. And it's back to the route with Global Crossing.
They need to change the hamsters more frequently, I think... It would still be nice if someone from CCP dropped in and told us what the problem was and how they fixed it.
CCP Mort? ... Mort? ... Mort?
Guess he's sick... My best friend's sister's boyfriend's brother's girlfriend heard from this guy who knows this kid who's going with a girl who saw CCP Mort pass out at 31 Flavors last night. I guess it's pretty serious.
(Random question: why is there no CCP Bueller? There totally needs to be one...) |
